Thomas C. ‘T.C.’ Evans
Thomas Charles “T.C.” Evans, 83, of Summit, died May 28, 2000, at Beacham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb, and 9 a.m. Wednesday until services in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Bob Lynch will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb.
Mr. Evans was born Feb. 12, 1917, in Amite, La. He was the son of Frank Edward Evans and Mary Lou Weaks Evans.
He was a retired conductor with Texas; two nieces, one nephew, three great-nieces and five great-nephews.
Pallbearers were Roy Lang, Allen Parnell, Snuffy Smith, Pymm West, Joey Allen and James Hucabee.
Elizabeth Johnston
Elizabeth Johnston, 51, of Jackson, died of cancer May 26, 2000, at her residence.
Visitation is 2-6 p.m. today at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson, and 10 a.m. Tuesday until services there at 11 a.m. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. Hartman Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of local arrangements.
Ms. Johnston was born Aug. 28, 1948, in New Orleans. She was the daughter of Willene Johnston of Jackson and the late Garvin H. Johnston, the last elected state superintendent of education in Mississippi Medical Center, where her main duties included training physicians in the practice of family medicine. She had several articles published in different journals of medicine and several medical school textbooks. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Social Sorority and M.E.N.S.A. She had lived in Jackson since 1976. She was a graduate of Poplarville High School and Pearl River Junior College. She graduated from Delta State University with a bachelor’s degree in education.
Survivors include her mother; one son, Philip Walley of Ridgeland; one daughter, Lisa Redditt of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; one sister, Bobette Holcomb of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jimmie ‘Tina’ Goodwin
Jimmie Nell “Tina” Goodwin, 64, of Baker, La., died May 28, 2000, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La.
Visitation is 1 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster until memorial services there at 3 p.m. The Rev. Dennis Fink will officiate. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery in Gloster.
Mrs. Goodwin was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Bogue Chitto. She was the daughter of Bernard Calif.
Mrs. Goodwin was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Bernard “Butch” Ewing; and one brother, F. Lee Carter.
Survivors include one daughter, Fay Ayers of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Jacob and Kaitlyn Ayers; two nephews, Rob Calif., and Randy Calif.; two aunts, Clara Freeman of Picayune and Pearl McNeil of Gloster; and an abundance of loving cousins, including the Lawrence and Kyzar families.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
