GULFPORT - Johnnie Applewhite, 66, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mr. Applewhite was a native of Bassfield and had been a resident of the Gulf Coast for over 33 years. He was self-employed as a landscaper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doc Applewhite and Mandy Applewhite; two brothers, Joe Applewhite and Willie Applewhite; and a sister, Mae Ruth Bonds.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Applewhite; a son, Milton Godine; two stepsons, Rhory Etienne and Brad Etienne; eight daughters, Janell Wallace, Mary Jane Williams, Betty Floyd, Johnnie Mae Applewhite, Jackie Applewhite, all of Long Beach, Jo Ann Pearson of Garland, N.Y.; four brothers, Issac Applewhite of Gulfport, Williams Applewhite, Edward Applewhite and Robert Applewhite, all of Buffalo; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church in Gulfport where friends may call an hour before service time. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Garden in Gulfport. Lockett-Williams' Mortuary in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.

GULFPORT - Leila Jane Edwards, 88, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Edwards was sent from Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport to the Swicegood Funeral Home in Danville, Va., for services and burial.

PASS CHRISTIAN - Eva Fayard Koolsbergen, 85, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, in Pass Christian.
Mrs. Koolsbergen was a native and lifelong resident of the Coast. She was retired kitchen supervisor at Angelo's Restaurant in Gulfport. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Pass Christian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Boy" Koolsbergen; and her parents, Dennis and Onezia Necaise Ladner.
Survivors include a son, C.J. "Buck" Fayard of Pass Christian; a daughter, Mary Frances Lennox of Selma, Ala.; a stepson, Will Koolsbergen of Calif.; two stepsons, Robin Charles Smith of Houston, Texas; a stepdaughter, Serena E. Owens of Oak Hill, Va.; a stepbrother, Ulrich Buck of Hamburg; and three grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday, Aug. 12, at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North, Gulfport. A service will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Smith Family Cemetery in Perkinston.

GULFPORT - Mrs. Irma P. Taylor, age 81 and a resident of Gulfport, died Friday, August 4, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Taylor was a native of Pearl River, LA, and was a lifelong resident of the Coast. She was retired as a clerk for Edgewater Hotel, and was active in the Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Taylor, Jr.; and her parents, Martin Porter and Caroline "Carrie" Porter.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca A. Taylor-Winsor and William J. Winsor III, of Slidell, LA; and a special friend, Margie Lanier, of Saucier.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 19, in Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue in Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral: 2 p.m. today at the Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Moss Point.
OCEAN SPRINGS - Juanita Carroll Tindell, 78, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Tindell was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Mobile and was a resident of Orange Grove in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of Midway United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pleasant May Tindell Jr.; and her parents, Frank and Estella Carroll.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Noblitt of Ocean Springs; and four brothers, Edward L. Carroll of Helena, Alvin E. Carroll of Orange Grove, Henry B. Carroll of Houma, La., and Richard E. Carroll of Moss Point.
Visitation was held Saturday, Aug. 12, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. A service will be at 2 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in Orange Grove Cemetery in Jackson County. The family prefers memorials to Midway United Methodist Church Building Fund.
