Mildred Ann Ester
Funeral: 1 p.m. today at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
GULFPORT - Mildred Ann Simmons Ester, 47, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Ester was born April 7, 1952, in Kosciusko, and was a 1970 graduate of Harrison Central High School. She attended Alcorn State University from 1970-1974 where she majored in music. She was employed with the Harrison County School System for 25 years as an accounting clerk. She was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for 42 years where she was pianist for 35 years, was the minister of music for the senior choir, gospel chorus, junior choir, male choir and the inspirational choir. She was a member of the Sunday School Class No. 11 and the NBC.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie C. Simmons.
Survivors include her husband, Robert B. Ester; a daughter, Montrece L. Ester; her mother, Sallie D. Simmons; three sisters, Willie J. Patton, Lovie M. Allen and Linda J. Lindsey; two brothers, Willie F. Simmons and Jesse W. Simmons; and a grandson.
A service will be at 1 p.m. today at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Gardens in Gulfport. Lockett-Williams' Mortuary in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
Gene L. House
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Faithview Baptist Church in Saucier.
SAUCIER - Gene L. House, age 68, died Tuesday, February 22, 2000, in Hattiesburg.
Mr. House was a native of New Orleans and served in the U.S. Army as a veteran of the Korean War. He was an educator for the Gulf Coast for 31-1/2 years as a teacher, counselor, and coach for Saucier, Lyman, and Advance. He also pioneered the Saucier Youth Association. Mr. House served as Commissioner of the Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District for over a quarter century. He was a member of JL Power Masonic Lodge for over 35 years, and in 1985 he established Robin's Nursery with his daughter. His customers will miss him dearly because he gave them a personal, honest touch. His whole life was devoted to his family. He helped many people in his lifetime, some even strangers. We will miss him dearly but are glad to know he's at home in Heaven with our Lord Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ebb House; his biological mother, Blanche Garrison Gross; his uncle, Frank Garrison; and a son-in-law, William Anthony Mulherin.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise House of Saucier; two sons and their families, Gene E. and Mary Ann House and their two children, and Frank and Dianne House and their two children and two grandchildren, all of Saucier; two daughters and their families, Shirley Mulherin and her two children, and Robin and Jeff Gates and their three children, all of Saucier; and his aunt, Dorothy Newman of Decatur, IL.
A visitation will be held Friday, February 25, 2000, at Faithview Baptist Church, 2nd Street, Saucier, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Faithview Baptist Church in Saucier where friends may call after 8 a.m.
A mule-drawn carriage will carry Mr. House from the church to House Cemetery in Saucier for committal services and U.S. Army Honors.

Robert L. Howze
Funeral: Noon Saturday at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Gulfport.
GULFPORT - Robert L. Howze, 72, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mr. Howze was born Nov. 26, 1927, in Shubuta, and had been a resident of Gulfport for over 50 years. He attended Euricka High School in Hattiesburg and was employed with Jay-Jay's and Turan Foley in Gulfport over a period of 51 years. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Howze Sr.; and his mother, Bettye Daughtery Howze.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Howze; a daughter, Paula M. Isabell; two sons, Ray E. Howze and Rickie L. Howze, all of Gulfport; a sister, Minnie Howze Williams; a brother, Martin Howze, both of Bronx, Mississippi Gulf Coast resident for over 20 years. He was employed as a mechanic for a Lincoln-Mercury dealership 20 years and was affiliated with the Church of God of Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William T. McCrory and Callie California; two brothers, Jimmy Milstead of Portland, Ore., and Anthony Milstead of Parker of Picayune; and a grandchild.
A service will be at noon today at Picayune Funeral Home Chapel where friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Burgetown Cemetery in Carriere.
Ruby Jewel Mitchell
Funeral: Graveside at 11 a.m. Saturday at Biloxi City Cemetery.
BILOXI - Ruby Jewel Mitchell, 47, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mrs. Mitchell was a lifelong resident of the Coast.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louisiana.
Mr. Pilley was born in Montevallo, Alabama, July 3, 1948. He served in the U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Zone Manager for 15 years with the Defense Commissary Agency and lived on the Gulf Coast for five years. Mr. Pilley had previously lived in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harris P. Pilley and Myrtle Campbell Pilley; and his sister, Nancy Taylor.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Kathy Pilley of Gulfport; his fiance, Sherry Tackle of Biloxi; his son, Allen Pilley of Gulfport; his daughter, Rachel Pilley, also of Gulfport; a brother, Robert Pilley of St. Petersburg, FL; five sisters, Charlotte Rose of St. Petersburg, FL, Shirley Hoch of Cargo, FL, Hazel Coyle of Oneonca, NY, Nita Johnson of Cantonment, FL, and Francis Pilley of St. Petersburg, FL.
A service will be at 12 noon Saturday, February 26, 2000, at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, where friends may call one hour before service time.
