Ruby Alline Schuman
Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi.
OCEAN SPRINGS - Ruby Alline Schuman, 74, of Ocean Springs, died Wednesday, February 23, 2000, in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Schuman was a lifelong resident of the Coast and was retired as head nurse from the Biloxi V.A. after 32 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Schuman; her parents, Alfred and June Miller; and a brother, Alfred Miller.
Survivors include a son, Junie Schuman of Ocean Springs; five sisters, Marilyn Miller, Betty Miller, Dot Luther, Margaret Orr, and Elanor Edwards; a brother, Jerry Miller; and two grandchildren, Robbie Schuman and Ellen Schuman.
Visitation will be Friday, February 25, 2000, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. On Saturday, February 26, 2000, at 1 p.m. there will be a service at the funeral home chapel with burial in Southern Memorial Park.
Robert Louis Simpson Jr.
Funeral: Memorial service at 11 a.m. today at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Pass Christian.
PASS CHRISTIAN - Robert Louis Simpson Jr., 70, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000.
Mr. Simpson was a native of Birmingham, Ala., and a resident of Pass Christian.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Schaumburg Simpson.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Clerc Simpson; three daughters, Beth Hesse, Bridget Simpson and Rayne Simpson; two sons, Bobby Simpson and Billy Simpson; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Pass Christian where friends may call one hour before service time. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family prefers memorials to Oschner Cancer Institute, 1516 Jefferson Hwy., Jefferson, LA 70121.
Whalon Stewart
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in D'Iberville.
BILOXI - Mr. Whalon Stewart, 66, of 284 Magnolia St., Biloxi, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mr. Stewart was a native of Tylertown and was a former student at Pine Grove High School in Kokomo. He was retired from the City of Biloxi, Public Works Department. He was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the usher board and attended Sunday School. He also served as chief usher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Alma Stewart; five brothers, James Stewart, Lehmon Stewart, Lavell Stewart, Gene Austin Stewart, and Odell Stewart; a son, Whalon Donald Stewart; and two sisters, Mammie Stewart and Lillie Stewart.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth Stewart; six daughters, Mrs. Larry "Glenda" Morgan, Mrs. Alfred "Carolyn" Lewis of Gulfport, Janice Brown, Lynn Stewart, Tynita Stewart of Biloxi, Mrs. Bernard "Lisa" Cannon of Mobile.; two sons, Robert Dixon of Los Angeles, and Kara Stewart of Odenton, Md.; two sisters, Wilkie Fortenberry and Audrey Adams, both of New Orleans; two brothers, Cornettel Stewart of Biloxi and Frazier Stewart of Chicago; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in D'Iberville. A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church where friends may call one hour before service time. Interment and graveside services will be at the Brandon Bay Baptist Church Cemetery in Tylertown. Richmond Funeral Home in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
Geneva Stockstill
Funeral: 3 p.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel in Picayune.
PICAYUNE - Geneva Stockstill, 92, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in New Orleans.
Mrs. Stockstill was a native of Necaise Crossing and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Picayune.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Daniel Stockstill Sr.; and a daughter, Hettie Lou Stockstill.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Walker of Picayune, Rosalia Knecht of Olive Branch and Doris Walters of Carriere; a son, James Daniel Stockstill Jr. of Pass Christian; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel in Picayune where friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery.
The family prefers memorials to a favorite charity.
Patricia F. Swinney
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Marys Catholic Church.
BILOXI - Patricia F. Swinney, 56, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mrs. Swinney had been a resident of the Coast for 21 years and was the owner and operator of Domestic Housekeeping Service in Biloxi for four years and was the manager of the Dining Hall at Keesler Air Force Base for several years. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Woolmarket.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Quixie Foote; and a brother, Buddy Foote.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Wilson of Saucier; a son, Jay Callis of Memphis; three sisters, Frances McCullar and Juanita Kennedy, both of Selmer, Tenn., and Barbara Jernigan of Meridianville, Ala.; a brother, William E. Foote Jr. of Selmer; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Marys Catholic Church where friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in White Plains Methodist Church Cemetery.
Doris Ernestine Wells
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Moss Point.
MOSS POINT - Doris Ernestine LeMaitre Wells, 75, of Moss Point, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, in Moss Point.
Mrs. Wells was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Escatawpa and was educated in the Moss Point School System. She was employed by the Singing River Hospital System for several years, but for the most part of her life was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of the Kreole United Methodist Church of Moss Point.
Doris was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Lee LeMaitre; a brother, Arnold Lee LeMaitre; and two sisters, Christine Kallsten and Gloria Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, James Edwin Wells Sr. of Moss Point; four sons and daughters-in-law, James Wells Jr. (Cathy) of Helena, Robert Wells (Donna) of Ocean Springs, Ernest Wells (Stephanie) of Roseville, CA, Thomas Wells of Gulf Breeze, FL; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Smith (Joe) of Gautier; her mother, Mrs. Flora Canfield LeMaitre, a centenarian of Escatawpa; three sisters, Lorrie Leslie (Cecil), Edwina LeMaitre, both of Escatawpa, and Betty Redmond of Mobile, AL; a brother, Larry LeMaitre (Ann) of Escatawpa; 10 grandchildren, Tres' Wells, Lesleigh Wells, Chad Wells, Judy Wells, Olivia Wells, Scott Wells, Emily Wells, Timothy Wells, Julie Smith Tanner, and Jason Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Tanner and Teigen Wells.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Cumbest and the Rev. Roy Barlow officiating. Burial will be in Griffin Cemetery. Pall bearers will be her grandsons, Jason Smith, Scott Wells, Chad Wells and Tres' Wells and her nephews, Howard Tanner and Joey LeMaitre.

GULFPORT - Allen Barnes, 60, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, in Gulfport.

Helen Bishop

BILOXI - Helen Sheehan Bishop, 84, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, in Biloxi.
Mrs. Bishop was born in Bristol, Conn., and was a graduate of New Britain High School in New Britain, Conn. She was a longtime resident of Philadelphia, Pa., and had been a resident of Biloxi for the past five years. She was a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer R. Bishop; and a brother, John Sheehan.
A service will be held in Church Hill, Md. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
James Allen Bowlin
Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.
PASCAGOULA - James Allen Bowlin, 49, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Gautier.
Mr. Bowlin was born Sept. 8, 1950, in Lake Charles, La., and had been a resident of the Pascagoula area for 34 years. He was a student at the University of Southern Texas; his mother, Eva Wiggly of Helena; a sister, Charlotte Henderson of Panama City, Fla.; two brothers, Robert Glen Bowlin of Helena and Michael Bowlin of Lucedale; and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. A service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel with burial in Crestlawn Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
Theresa H. Evans

GULFPORT - Mrs. Theresa H. Evans, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Evans was retired from the Cabana Gardens in Biloxi and was a former member of St. James Baptist Church in Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie E. Evans; her mother, Alma Hunter; and two sisters, Ethelene Russel and Alfredia Jefferson.
Survivors include a son, Clifton Manning of Atlanta; a daughter, Alveria Haynes of Gulfport; a longtime companion, Jessie Bell Jr. of Gulfport; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at J.T. Hall Funeral Home Chapel in Gulfport where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Gardens in Gulfport.
Ella Mae Fields
Funeral: Noon Saturday at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church.
GULFPORT - Ella Mae Pittman Fields, 85, died Saturday, Nov.. 6, 1999, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Fields was a native of Columbia, Miss., and a member of the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church where she was a deaconess, a member of the choir, and a member of the Mission. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Fields; a daughter, Luvergia Allen.
Survivors include three sons, Luvern Pittman of Biloxi, Jack L. Pittman of Nashville, and Rowlie Pittman Jr. of Gulfport; three daughters, Reverdia Posey of Texas, Ruby Morgan of Gulfport, and Johann Crosby of Chicago; two brothers, Levi Henry and L.J. Peters; two sisters, Virgie Mae Crumedy and Ethel Mae Henry, all of Foxworth; 51 grandchildren; and 90 great-grandchildren.
A service will be at noon Saturday at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Gardens. Hartwell's Christian Mortuary in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
