GULFPORT - Myrtle Crews Derryberry, 87, of Gulfport, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Derryberry was born October 3, 1912, in Bond, MS, and had been a resident of the Gulf Coast since 1975. She was a former resident of Hattiesburg where she retired from Hansley Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Gateway United Methodist Church in Lyman.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ford Crews; her second husband, Oscar Derryberry; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sideny J. Holston; a brother, J.D. Holston; a sister, Frances Peterman; a son, Madison Crews; and grandson Michael Crews.
Survivors include a daughter, Janette Bush and husband, Homer Bush of Gulfport; sons, Robert Crews and wife, Carolyn, of Perry, GA, Sid Crews and wife, Connie, of Laurel, and Ford David Crews of Melbourne, FL; a daughter-in-law, Melonee Crews of Moss Point; a stepdaughter, Marilyn King and husband, David King of Long Beach; sisters, Elsie Blackwell of Gulfport, Catherine Blackwell of Clinton and Nita Malley of Gulfport; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-granddaughter; one stepgreat-great-granddaughter; and several ieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be today at 11 a.m. at Gateway United Methodist Church in Lyman where friends may call an hour before service time. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Ladner-Mucklerath Cemetery in Lamar County.
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
Penny Gunn
Funeral: Graveside at 11 a.m. today in Biloxi City Cemetery.
BILOXI - Penny Gunn, 84, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mrs. Gunn was born in Bay Springs and had been a resident of the Coast since 1970. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Biloxi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Gunn; and a daughter, Nelda June Gunn.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynda Marie Bain of Newport Richie, Fla., and Sandra Carol Avery of Gulfport; a son, Dr. Curtis Dale Gunn of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a brother, Daniel Blackledge of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today in Biloxi City Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
Joyce Ann Leger

BILOXI - Mrs. Joyce Ann Leger, 64, of Biloxi, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mrs. Leger was born in Welsh, Louisiana, and had been a resident of Biloxi for the past 30 years. She and her husband were co-founders of Amos Air Conditioning of Biloxi. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Biloxi.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Edmaze Mallett Leger; a son, Chuckie Monday; a daughter, Charlotte Leger; and a stepdaughter, Dora Leger.
Survivors include her husband, Amos Leger Sr. of Biloxi; her father, Alva Leger of Welsh, Louisiana; three daughters, Dolores Leger Businelle of Ocean Springs, Stephanie Doucet of Miami, Florida, and Candy Giles of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a son, John Leger of Biloxi; seven stepdaughters, Mary Jane Leger of Bay St. Louis, Judy Leger and Shirley Leger, both of Baytown, Texas, Dorothy Ardoin and Doris Beadle, both of Lake Charles, LA, Loretta O'Keefe of Virginia Beach, VA, and Janet Spell of Lake Charles, LA; three stepsons, Amos Leger Jr., Randy Leger and Keith Leger, all of Biloxi; 41 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2000, from 12 noon until 10 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. On Saturday, May 6, 2000, there will be a 1 p.m. chapel service at the funeral home where friends may call from 8 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Biloxi City Cemetery.
Virgil S. Lucky Jr.
Funeral: 2:30 p.m. in the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi.
BILOXI - Virgil S. Lucky Jr., 69, died Friday, May 5, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mr. Lucky was born in McGee and had been a longtime resident of Biloxi. He was a truck driver with John Fayard Fast Way Systems. Hew was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Gerry Lucky of Biloxi; two daughters, Kathy Lucky of Canton and Brenda Lucky of Mississippi, at the age of 69.
Services for Mrs. Noland will be held at the Riemann Memorial Funeral Home on Beauvoir Road in Biloxi, Oklahoma, on September 30, 1930, the daughter of Cecil Andrew Roberts and Gladys Leah (Woods) Roberts. She graduated from Stillwater High School and attended Mississippi, on June 11, 1949. Mr. and Mrs. Noland moved to the Gulf Coast during the early 60s and quickly became active members of the community.
Mrs. Noland was a member of the National Association of Executive Women and the Kappa Delta Sorority Alumni Association serving the national sorority as Province President, Chapter Education Director and National Director of Scholarship Programs during the late 1970s and early 80s. She was the recipient of the Order of the Emerald Kappa Delta Award in 1988.
She was an avid genealogist and an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as Regent of the Biloxi Chapter from 1995-1998, Colonial Dames XVII Century most recently serving as its Treasurer and previously as Chapter President for two terms; Daughters of American Colonists as a Charter Member, Chapter Regent for the past three years and most recently as State Chairman for the College of the Ozarks; United Daughters of Confederacy most recently serving as Division Recording Secretary and Past President for the Biloxi Beauvoir Chapter; Sons and Daughters of Pilgrims as State Elder; U.S. Daughters of 1812, Magna Charta Dames, and Colonial Order of the Crown of Charlemagne. She was also a member of the Biloxi Yacht Club most recently serving as Secretary of the Auxiliary, founded the Bonnie Debs Social Club and is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
Upon hearing of her death, the Biloxi Chapter UDC 623 established an Anngie Noland Scholarship Memorial Fund.
Mrs. Noland's professional career continued up until her death. She was retired from WLOX-TV as a ational sales executive and most recently worked as a sales associate for McRae's Department Store at Edgewater Plaza.
Mrs. Noland was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Vaughan Noland Sr.; her father, Cecil A. Roberts; mother, Gladys Leah (Woods) Roberts; and her in-laws, Webb M. Bruce and Florence (Martin) Noland Bruce.
She is survived by her daughter, Nanette Noland Crocker-Holmdohl of Birmingham, AL; two sons, Thomas Vaughan Noland Jr., and Bruce Andrew Noland of Biloxi, MS; her sister, Jill A. Roberts of Fort Worth, Mississippi Regional Center, 1170 West Railroad, Long Beach, MS 39560; or to St. Peter's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 1912 East Beach, Boulevard, Gulfport, MS 39501.
Frances Rivers
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday in the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi.
BILOXI - Frances "Vera" Rivers, 60, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mrs. Rivers was born in Goodway, AL, and had been a resident of Biloxi for the past 33 years. She was a waitress at the Hook, Line and Sinker for 11 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer J. Rivers.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Frances Darlene Doty of Biloxi, Rebecca L. and Allen Mann of Jackson, TN, and Nina Elizabeth and Joseph Paul Maschi of Montgomery, AL; three sisters, Audia G. Fleming of Mobile, AL, Earlene Savory of Calif., Marlon J. Flowers of Georgia and Jackolyn Turberville, Ala.; a grandchild, Jennifer Lynn Dalgo of Biloxi; and a great-grandchild, Taylor Nicole Dalgo of Biloxi.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurel at 2 p.m. Monday.

Mrs. Schelp was born in St. Louis, Mo. She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her husband, Norbert Schelp; two sons, Joseph A. Schelp of Gulfport and Louis M. Schelp of Virginia Beach, Va.; and three grandchildren.

Herbert Walters

BILOXI - Herbert Walters, 78, died Friday, May 5, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mr. Walters had been a resident of the Gulf Coast since 1968. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Walters; his mother, Jessie Porter Walters; and his sister, Betty Walters Hurd.
Survivors include his wife, Corrine Walters of Biloxi, Missouri Valley, Missouri Valley, Iowa; and a grandson, Keith Roberts of Biloxi.
A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, where friends may call an hour before service time. Burial will be in Southern Memorial Cemetery in Biloxi.
