Ollie Mae Hamilton
Funeral services: Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pauls Catholic Church.
PASS CHRISTIAN - Ollie Mae Hamilton, 90, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Hamilton was born Nov. 5, 1907, in Morgan City, La., and had been a resident of Pass Christian since 1959. She worked in the accounting and IBM departments of United Fruit Company in Bananera, Guatemala for 17 years. She was transferred to Tela, Honduras until she retired in 1959. Mrs. Hamilton was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church and the Pass Christian Yacht Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur C. Hamilton; her parents, Alex and Laura Picou Bourgeois; and a sister, Bessie Wilder.
Survivors include a stepson, John R. Hamilton of Hammond, La.; two stepdaughters, Barbara Lynn Hurlbut and Charlotte Faye Hamilton, both of Chicago; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Wednesday at Riemann Funeral Home in Pass Christian. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:50 a.m. for 11 a.m. Mass at St. Pauls Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Hope Mausoleum in New Orleans.
Mary Genevieve Miller
BILOXI - Mary Genevieve Miller, 88, of Biloxi died Saturday, September 12, 1998, in Biloxi.
Miss Miller was born in Natchez, MS., and had been a resident of the MS. Gulf Coast for the past eight years. She was formerly a resident of Walker's Chapel of Fultondale, AL.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Doretta Hollingsworth and father, Bill Hollingsworth.
Survivors include four cousins, Gladys Kennedy of Gulfport, MS., Susan McFarland and Lori Ros, both of Saucier, MS., and J.R. Williams of Memphis, TN.
Burial will be in Walker's Chapel Cemetery in Fultondale, AL.
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
Paul E. Morgan Sr.
Funeral services: Memorial at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the U.S. Navy Home Chapel in Gulfport and Mass at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kirby, Indianapolis and had been a resident of Gulfport for two years. He retired as a Master Sergeant with the Air Force after over 20 years of service. He received the following awards: European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (w/Bronze Star), American Defense Service Medal, Air Medal (w/three OLC), National Devense Service Medal (w/two Bronze Loops), Good Conduct Medal (w/five Bronze Loops), and Air Force Longevity Service Award (w/three OLC). He was a member of the VFW Post in San Antonio, Texas State Militia. He was Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Morgan; and his parents, Steve and Sally Morgan.
Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Williams of Carpentersville, Ill., Vicki Wiseman of San Antonio and Beverly Morgan of Corpus Christi, Texas and John E. Morgan of Texas; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Morgan was sent from Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport to Delcrest Funeral Home in San Antonio. The Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kirby, Calif., Hugh David Ward of Gulfport and Mike Ward of Florence, Miss.; a daughter, Mary Jayne Herfurth of Gulfport; a brother, Ray Ball of Hattiesburg; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Roseland Park Cemetery.
Annie R. Wilkerson
Funeral services: Graveside at 10 a.m. Monday in Biloxi City Cemetery.
BILOXI - Annie R. Wilkerson, 83, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, in Biloxi.
Mrs. Wilkerson had been a lifelong resident of the Coast and had attended school at Gorenflo Farms in N. Biloxi. She was employed as a seafood factory worker with Seacoast Seafood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amanda and Aristide Richard; her husband, Ben Joseph Wilkerson; a daughter, Josephine Wilkerson; and four brothers, Wallace Richard, Abdon Richard, Ellis and Mouise Richard.
Survivors include four daughters, Ida Mae Simmons and Lois Ann Phelps, both of Biloxi, Gerldine Oliver of D'Iberville and Francis Ann Cutten of Walla Walla, Wash.; three sons, Jimmy J. Wilkerson, Eddie A. Wilkerson and Johnny M. Wilkerson, all of Biloxi; a sister, Leona Daniels of Niceville, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. Graveside services were followed in Biloxi City Cemetery.
Harriet Asalean Moody
Funeral: 2 p.m Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune.
PICAYUNE - Harriet Asalean Moody, 70, died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, in Picayune.
Mrs. Moody was a native of Picayune. She was a retired line worker with Standard Container and was a member of Westlawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Amanda D. Moody of Picayune; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Dian Lott of Carriere and Carolyn Ann Hammons of Gulfport; a stepson, Maurice Moody of Picayune; a sister, Verna Mae McCormick of Picayune; three brothers, Labrie Mitchell of Derby, Miss., Thalus Mitchell and Hollis R. Mitchell, both of Picayune; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune. A service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial in Thigpen Cemetery.
Geraldine Hickman Prine
Funeral: 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Long Beach.
LONG BEACH - Mrs. Geraldine Hickman Prine, 67, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Prine, a native of Wiggins, had been a resident of Long Beach since 1961, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Long Beach. She worked at the A & P in Long Beach for 17 years, and worked as a paraprofessional for three years at Reeves Elementary School in Long Beach.
She was preceded in death by her father, Matthew J. Hickman.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Prine of Long Beach; a son, Gerald Stephen Prine of Belle Chasse, La.; a daughter, Christine P. Crouch of Mobile; her mother, Christine Hickman of Wiggins; a brother, Earl H. Hickman of Lake City, Fla.; two sisters, Maxine Spiers of Poplarville and Norma Rodgers of Wiggins; and two grandchildren.
Visitation was held Saturday evening at Riemann Funeral Home in Long Beach. A service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Long Beach, where friends may call an hour before service time. Burial will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in Long Beach.
David Zimmerman Ring Jr.
Funeral: Graveside at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Louden Park Cemetery in Baltimore.
LONG BEACH - David Zimmerman Ring Jr., 80, a resident of Long Beach, died Thursday, September 24, 1998, in Diamondhead.
Mr. Ring, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, was a retired sheet metal worker and had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Coast Rifle and Pistol Club and the Choctaw Creek Hunters Association.
Mr. Ring was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Ring. Survivors include his son, the Rev. Dr. David Z. Ring III of Odessa, Texas; and a cousin, H. Donald Householder of Baltimore, Maryland.
Mr. Ring will be sent to Hubbard Funeral Home in Baltimore, Maryland, for graveside services at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Louden Park Cemetery in Baltimore.
Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue in Gulfport is in charge of local arrangements.
Rhodora Robberts
Funeral: Private services will be held.
OCEAN SPRINGS - Rhodora "Dody" Robberts, 57, died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Robberts was born in Kansas City, Mo., and had been a resident of Ocean Springs since 1991. She was previously employed with the Isle of Capri and was a Protestant.
Survivors include her husband, Darrel Robberts of Ocean Springs; two daughters, Loella Friend of Neosho, Mo., and Darla Foster of Ignacio, Mississippi State University, where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate, a member of Scabbard and Blade Pershing Rifles and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
A captain in the U.S. Army, he served four years as an instructor at the U.S. Army Missile and Munitions Center and School, Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Ala. Afterwards, he worked for Booze Allen Applied Research as a Senior Analyst at Fort Rucker, Ala., transferring in 1968 to the Fort Walton Beach office. Two years later he began a 28-year career as an Operations Research Analyst at Eglin AFB, serving with the original Air Force Armament Laboratory and its successor, the Munitions Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Mr. Taconi was a longtime member of the Air Force Association and served as ticket chairman for the many Bob Hope Show Benefits. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Mr. Taconi was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan Edward Taconi Sr. and Opal Faulkenberry Taconi.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Sylvia F. Taconi of Ft. Walton Beach; a son, Nolan E. Taconi III of Atlanta, Ga.; and daughter, Angela R. Taconi of Orlando, Fla.
The family will receive friends at McLaughlin Funeral Home in Ft. Walton Beach from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Raymond Mullins at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ft. Walton Beach at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 1998. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
