Graveside services were held Monday, June 2, 2003, at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Covington County for Lonnie McDaniel, 68, of Ellisville, who died May 31 at South Central Regional Medical Center.
Mr. McDaniel was Baptist.
Survivors include a sister, Eva V. Breazeale of Hattiesburg; and two brothers, J. C. McDaniel of Petal and Harrison McDaniel of Hannibal, Alabama.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three nephews, Charles T. Munn and wife Sharon, Lamar C. Munn and wife Donna, and Frankie Joe “Joey” Munn, all of Richton; four nieces, Sibyl Harrington and husband Cleve, of Gulfport, Mary S. Munn of Richton, Brenda Eiland and husband Tim, of Moss Point, and Janet L. Stanley of Pascagoula; sisters-in-law, Susan I. Lamar Munn, and Anna L. Travis Munn, both of Richton; six great nieces and nephews, and two great-great nieces and one great-greatnephew.

Services were held Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Greater Mount Bethel Baptist Church for Lacondra Peterson, 23, of Hattiesburg, who died May 31 at Forrest General Hospital.
Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Survivors include her mother, Sandra Peterson of Hattiesburg; her father, Robert Williams of Hattiesburg; a son, Rashad Peterson of Hattiesburg; two brothers, Kelvin Peterson and Shamari Peterson, both of Hattiesburg; and a sister, Terrinesha Peterson of Hattiesburg.
Century Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
MATTIE PITTMAN
COLUMBIA
Services were held Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church for Mattie Mae Pittman, 83, of Columbia, who died May 31 at Myrtle’s Nursing Home.
Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Pittman was a seamstress.
She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women’s WMU.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom T. and Ettie Mae Pittman.
Survivors include eight nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and great nephews.
Colonial Funeral Home of Columbia was in charge of arrangements.
EMILY RAWLS
PETAL
Services were held Monday, June 9, 2003, at Moore Funeral Home for Emily Rawls, three months, of Lumberton, who died June 6 at Forrest General Hospital.
The infant is survived by her parents, David and Cindy Rawls of Lumberton; grandparents, William and Brenda Page of Petal, Gary and Linda Rawls of Deanville, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
Brown Mortuary of Laurel was in charge of arrangements.
BOB REYNOLDS
LUMBERTON
Services were held Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home for Bob Reynolds, 78, of Lumberton, who died May 30 at his residence.
Burial was in Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Reynolds served in the U. S. Navy and was grounds keeper of King’s Arrow Ranch. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlis Reynolds.
Survivors include his caretaker, Larry Stanford of Lumberton.
Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home of Purvis was in charge of arrangements.
HORAACE F. ROGERS
LAUREL
Services were held Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home for Horace F. Rogers, 88, of Laurel, who died June 4 at South Central Regional Medical Center.
Burial was in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Laurel.
Mr. Rogers retired from the Masonite Corporation.
Survivors include a son, Terry Rogers of Laurel; two daughters, Diane Boleware and Jocye King, both of Laurel; a sister, Mildred Myers of LeVerne, Mississippi Public Schools.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mason J. Stewart.
Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Bess of Surprise, NY; a brother, Erskine Gandy of Madison; a number of nieces; two grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

HATTIESBURG
Services were held Monday, June 9, 2003, at Jordan Cemetery in Jones County for Dorothy W. Sorey, 72, of Hattiesburg, who died May 31 at Bedford Care Center.
Burial was in Jordan Cemetery.
She was employed at Big Yank as a seamstress and a member of Beacon Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brother, Tom Woodard of Taylorsville and Marvin Woodard of Soso; and a number of nieces and nephews.
BILLY G. VARNADO, SR.
PURVIS
Services were held Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Moore Funeral Home for Billy Gene Varnado, Sr., 75, of Purvis, who died June 5, 2003, at Forrest General Hospital.
Interment was in Highland Cemetery.
Mr. Varnado was a longtime resident of Purvis where he retired as maintenance installation supervisor after 38 years with Bell South. He was a Baptist, a Mason, and a U.S. Merchant Marines veteran of World War II.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Betty Lou Varnado; parents, Franklin A. and Ellen McKenzie Varnado; a brother, Frank Varnado; and a sister, LaRita Pigott.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Gene Varnado and Frank Varnado, both of Purvis; a daughter, Vicki Sheffield of Purvis; a sister, Marvel Ruth Trussell of Hattiesburg; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

HELEN S. WATTS
HATTIESBURG
Services were held Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Moore Funeral Home for Helen S. Watts, 75, of Hattiesburg, who died June 4 at her home.
Rev. John E. Watts and Rev. Ken Hopkins officiated. Interment was in Improve Cemetery in Columbia.
Pallbearers was Chris Watts, Brent Watts, Earl Watts, Winfred Watts, Marshel Hodges, Ronny Thomas, Ted Pearce, and Jon Pearce.
Born in the Improve Community, Mrs. Watts was a department head in customer service at McRae’s where she had worked for 15 years. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar L. and Mary Gracie Coulter Stringer.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis R. Watts of Hattiesburg; a son, Tommy E. Watts of Pineville, La.; a daughter, Melissa L. Hoefler of Houston, Texas; a sister, Hazel Watts of Petal; and five grandsons.
