T.B. Brunson

GULFPORT - Mr. T.B. Brunson, 76, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, in Gulfport.
Mr. T.B. Brunson, the son of the late Mr. Clarence and Emma Brunson, reared by his uncle, the late Mr. Leslie Henderson, was born July 27, 1922, in Cotton Plant, Ark. In addition to his parents and uncle, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Rosa Brunson and two sisters, Mrs. Zula Mae Worsham and Clara B. Simon. He attended school in Cotton Plant. He was a past worshipful master of the Progressive Good Heart Lodge No. 64. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Rosa Brunson and made their home in Gulfport, where they became members of the First Missionary Baptist Church. Brother Brunson was a very faithful member serving for many years as an usher and a member of the Board of Trustees.
He will be missed by all who knew this kind and gentle man. He leaves to cherish his memories one brother, Mr. William Brunson of Cotton Plant, Ark.; one granddaughter, Ms. Alesia McDuffie of San Francisco, Ohio, Mary Magalene McMillian of Fayetteville, Sharon Reed and Andrea Reed, both of Vancleave, Pamela Burch of Arlington, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Good Hope Baptist Church, where friends may call an hour before service time. Gravesides services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church cemetery. Richmond Funeral Home in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.

Murphy Luke Dufrene

ESCATAWPA - Murphy Luke Dufrene, 76, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Pascagoula.
Mr. Dufrene was born June 21, 1922, in Des Allemands, La. He was a retired boat Captain and was a member of Escatawpa Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maloney and Stella Dufrene; and a brother, Alvin Dufrene.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Dufrene of Escatawpa; two sons, Melvin Dufrene of La Rose, La., and Jason Dufrene of Kodak, Tenn.; four daughters, Cheryl Miller of Spanish Fort, Ala., Lorraine Goff of Orange Grove, Linda Turner and Shelly Gregory, both of Escatawpa; four brothers, Raymond Dufrene, Lloyd Dufrene and Wilmer Dufrene, all of Des Allemands, and Willis Dufrene of Hammond, La.; three sisters, Alma Dufrene, Loretta Landry and Leta Joy Dufrene, all of Des Allemands; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. A service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Serene Memorial Gardens.
Dixie Landrum Hilsher
Funeral: Noon Monday at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel in Picayune.
BOGALUSA, La. - Mrs. Dixie Landrum Hilsher, 69, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in Bogalusa.
Mrs. Hilsher was a native of Logtown, Miss. She was a restaurant worker in the food industry and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Bogalusa, where she served as the church organist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Harry Hilsher; and a son, Henry Joseph Hilsher.
Survivors include a daughter, Donnette Dawsey of Bogalusa; a son, Darwyn Hilsher of Picayune; three brothers, Lou Landrum and Gary Landrum, both of Picayune, and Kellis Landrum of Goldthawite, Calif. He was an Air Force Special Operations C-130 Loadmaster and veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and Persian Gulf War.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Meta Jean Kellerhals; and a brother, Michael Mackie.
Survivors include his wife, Daphne Starr Jackson; a son, John Dustin Jackson, both of Ocean Springs; his father and stepmother, Chester Jackson and Shirley Ralls; two brothers, James and Robert Jackson; and five sisters, Connie Baptista, Cyndy Mackie, Suzy Case, Cathy Stein and Christy Jackson.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Biloxi National Cemetery, with full military honors.
The family prefers memorials to Quality Hospice of Biloxi.
Clara Parker Jones, 91, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Pascagoula.
Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 10, 1907, in Wade. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and was retired from the Jackson County Personal Care Home in Hurley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Parker; her husband, Honor Jones; and three sons, Clinton, Guy and Johnny Jones.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Jones and Gerald Wayne Jones; three daughters, Frances Roberts, Mary Ruth Merry and Ina Mae Lundy, all of Hurley; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. A service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hurley United Methodist Church, where friends may call an hour before service time. Burial will follow in Magnolia Springs Cemetery.
Quoi Thi Le
GULFPORT - Mrs. Quoi Thi Le, 87, of Gulfport, died Friday, November 6, 1998, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Le was a native of Vietnam and had resided in the United States for over 20 years. She was a Buddhist.
Mrs. Le was a loving mother and grandmother who was always ready to give of herself until the end of her life.
Survivors include a daughter, Tuyet Le Ha, and her husband, Dr. Quan Huu Ha of Gulfport; four sisters, Le Thi Loc of France, Le Thi Anh of N.Y., for services and burial.
Louis Stewart McCaleb Jr.
GULFPORT - Mr. Louis Stewart McCaleb Jr., 78, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in Gulfport.

James Keith Mitchell

PICAYUNE - James Keith "Jimmy" Mitchell, 39, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in Slidell.
Mr. Mitchell was a native of Picayune. He was a postal clerk in Picayune and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the University of Southern Texas; two sisters, Nettie Beth Green of Lucedale, and Katherine Baertich of Petal, Miss.; a grandson, Robert Clay Mullin Jr., of Arlington, Texas, April Mare Hartnett of Hurst, Texas.
He was a member of the Union Avenue Baptist Church of Bogalusa, La. He was a retired Mississippi Southern Alumni Hall of Fame.
Visitation was held in the chapel of Brown McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa, La., Saturday, November 7, 1998. Visitation will continue Sunday from 9 a.m. until time for the service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa. Rev. Nelson Bracey will conduct religious services.
Active pallbearers are Clay Mullin, Joel Pipkin, Sidney Baertich, Bret Smith, Mark Green and Patrick Mullin. PASS CHRISTIAN - Leona D. Smith, 96, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Avera, Miss., and had been a resident of Pass Christian since 1948. She was a member of DeLisle Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theo Smith; a son, Alton D. Smith; a daughter, Willie Mae Ladner; her parents, Andrew and Louisa Meadows Dunnam; three granddaughters; five brothers; and six sisters.
Survivors include a son W.T. "Smitty" Smith of Long Beach; a daughter, Burtile S. Powell of Pass Christian; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; many great-great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North in Gulfport. A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at DeLisle Baptist Church, where friends may call an hour before service time. Burial will be in Evergreen Gardens Cemetery in Gulfport.
Dora Lee Wainwright

GULFPORT - Mrs. Dora Lee Wainwright, 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Wainwright was born in New Orleans and was a longtime resident of Pass Christian. She was a graduate of Pass Christian High School and was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport. She was employed in the Chancery Clerk's office and later was a County Court reporter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Daisy McDonald; and a brother, Kenneth McDonald.
Survivors include her husband, David Wainwright; a son, Chris M. Wainwright of Ocean Springs; a daughter, Debbie Lonnborg of Gulfport; a brother, William F. McDonald Jr. of Wiggins; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue in Gulfport. A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church where friends may call after 9 a.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.

Mattie Lois Woodson
Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Wiggins.
WIGGINS - Mrs. Mattie Lois Franks Woodson, 74, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Hattiesburg.
Mrs. Woodson was a Baptist and was a retired garment factory seamstress.
Survivors include three daughters, Earline Parker of Perkinston, Joan Farmer of Bond and Norma Woodson Lee of Wiggins; a son, Loyd Franks Jr. of Perkinston; her stepmother, Lula Hilton of Conyers, Ga.; three sisters, Opal Morrison of Lafayette, Ga., Lula Bell Grisham of Conyers and Stella May Braun of Hiawassee, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Moore Funeral Home in Wiggins. A service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wiggins.
