Cleveland Douglas Cumbest
Funeral: 2 p.m. today at Caswell Springs United Methodist Church in Wade.
HURLEY - Mr. Cleveland Douglas Cumbest, 71, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Hurley.
Mr. Cumbest was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Wade. He was a retired maintenance foreman of International Paper Company and served two years in the military during World War II. He attended Carter of Ocean Springs and Ruthie Mae "Doll" Faggard of Wade; a brother, Denoris "Bub" Cumbest of Wade; and four grandchildren.
Visitation was held Saturday evening at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. A service will be at 2 p.m. today at Caswell Springs United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Michael Ward Davis
Funeral: Memorial at 4:30 p.m. today at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, Peachtree Chapel, in Norcross, Ga.
DULUTH, Ga. - Michael Ward Davis, age 51, of Duluth, GA., died Saturday, February 20, 1999.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. today from Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel. Rev. John Duke will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. until the hour of service.
A native of Biloxi, MS., Michael was a United States Army Veteran serving in Vietnam in 1970, and was an avid Fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Carol Davis.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynn and Tom Morris of Duluth, GA., Merry and Buzzy Owen of Biloxi, MS., and Susie and Steve Williams of Lawrenceville, GA.; two nephews; four nieces; and an uncle, Glen P. Ward Jr. of Biloxi, MS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gwinnett County Unit, 3545 Cruse Road, Suite 102, Lawrenceville, GA. 30044.
Arrangements are being handled by Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, Norcross, GA.

Clara Evans
Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday at Nativity BVM Cathedral in Biloxi.
GULFPORT - Clara Lamas Evans, 89, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Evans was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and a member of Nativity BVM Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Evans; a daughter, Patricia Meaut; four sisters, Kay Cerra, Marge Sekul, Marie Straughn, and Louise Wagner; three brothers, Joseph "Dinkas" Lamas, Ralph "Son" Lamas and Harry Lamas; and her parents, Rudolph and Catherine Lamas.
Survivors include five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Nativity BVM Cathedral in Biloxi where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in Biloxi City Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
Peter F. Farve
Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis.
BAY ST. LOUIS - Peter F. Farve, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. Farve was a native and longtime resident of Bay St. Louis. He had been a member of St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis since 1925 and was a member of Knights of Peter Claver for more than 50 years. He was a veteran of the Navy and was a cook for St. Augustine Seminary in Bay St. Louis and Veteran Hospital in Gulfport, where he retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide and Dora Maurice Farve; a daughter, Vanette Acker; a brother, Dennis Farve; four sisters, Edna Farve, Mae Farve, Dorothy Simms and Clara Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Elvira Fairconnetue Farve of Bay St. Louis; five sons, Joseph Farve, Thomas Farve and Harry Farve, all of Bay St. Louis, Dwight Farve of Columbus, Washington, D.C., and had been a Coast resident for 21 years. He was a retired 20-year veteran of the Air Force and worked at Keesler AFB in civil service for more than 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emma Jester.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Floyd of Gulfport; two sons, Edward L.E. Jester of Mobile and Alexander P. Jester of Vancleave; a sister, Maryanne Ferencze of Tennessee; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Biloxi National Cemetery, with full military honors.
Cecil Maggard
Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Barham Funeral Home in Newton.
NEWTON - Mr. Cecil Maggard, 73, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Meridian.
Mr. Maggard was member of Hebron Baptist Church and was retired from Mason/Dixon Trucking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, West and Corina Maggard; and three brothers, Eugene, J.W. and Jimmy Maggard.
Survivors include his wife, Addie M. "Pete" Maggard of Newton; a daughter, Linda Hunt of Churchill, Tenn.; a son, Stephen Maggard of Charlott, N.C.; three sisters, Stella McRae of Causeyville, Doris Moffett of Water Valley and Mildred Pennington of Little Rock, Ark.; two brothers, James Maggard of Gulfport and Charles Maggard of Meridian; his stepmother, Alma Maggard of Meridian; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Barham Funeral Home in Newton. A service will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial in Newton County Memorial Gardens.
The family prefers memorials to Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian.
David McDaniel
Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Moss Point.
PASCAGOULA - Mr. David McDaniel, 68, of Lily Orchard Community, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Pascagoula.
Mr. McDaniel was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Piave. He was a retired shipfitter at Ingalls Shipbuilding and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Hurley and Live Church in Gautier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ida Hattie Powe McDaniel; a daughter, Debra Sue McDaniel; a brother, Arnold McDaniel; and two sisters, Mamie Mae Raines and Minnie Mae Burnes.
Survivors include his wife, Marie McDaniel of Lily Orchard; a daughter, Branda K. Williams of Pascagoula; four sons, David Earl McDaniel of Seattle, George Calvin McDaniel of Helena, Dennis McDaniel of Big Point and Jerry McDaniel of Hurley; four brothers, Lonnie McDaniel and William McDaniel, both of Barton, Alvin McDaniel of Wiggins and Edward McDaniel of Wade; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. A service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow in Johnson Cemetery in Wade.
Donald Cleary O'Neill

GULFPORT - Donald Cleary O'Neill, 51, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. O'Neill was a native of New Orleans and had been a longtime resident of Gulfport. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Cleary O'Neill.
Survivors include his mother, Florence Gowers O'Neill of Gulfport; and a sister, Kathleen O. Fernandez of Bay St. Louis.
Private services were held. Burial was in Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery in Metairie, La. Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis was in charge of arrangements.
Ryan Blake Parker

PERKINSTON - Ryan Blake Parker, 18, died Friday, February 19, 1999, at his residence in Perkinston.
Ryan was a senior at Parker of Perkinston, MS.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lori and Dale Griffin, Myla and Dale Main, all of Perkinston, MS., and Treba and David Davis of Wiggins, MS.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Donny Britt and Leigh Parker, Jeffrey Todd and Aletha Parker, Obey Wade Parker, all of Perkinston, MS.; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Wade (Reta) Parker and Tristen Parker; and two nieces, Dasha Parker and Madison Main.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. tonight, Sunday, February 21, 1999, at Moore Funeral Home in Wiggins. A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 22, 1999, at First Baptist Church in Wiggins, with burial in Brown Cemetery in Perkinston.
Jacob O. Pearce Sr.

PERKINSTON - Jacob O. Pearce Sr., 65, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, in Perkinston.
Mr. Pearce was born in Brookln and had been a longtime Coast resident. He attended school in Brooklyn and was a retired truck driver for Bond Paving Company. He was Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Jacob O. Pearce Jr. of Lyman; a daughter, Tina Pates of Sandersville; a brother, Ruben "Bennett' Pearce; two sisters, Eula Mae Dedeaux and Annie Mae Dangler, all of Saucier; and five grandchildren.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North in Gulfport, where friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in First Free Church of God Cemetery (corner of O'Neal and Three Rivers roads) in Gulfport.

GRAND BAY, Ala. - Mr. Louis H. Sippy, 68, died Friday, February 19, 1999, in Grand Bay.
Mr. Sippy was a native of Sauke Center, MN. He was a retired Staff Seargent of the U.S. Air Force as well as a retired Ingall's Shipyard Employee. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local No. 733, retired N.C.O. Association, and was an active member of the Grand Bay United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mrs. Mariko M. Sippy; a son, Steve Sippy; a daughter, Shirley (Richard) Vest; a brother, Bert (Joan) Sippy; a sister, Eva Mae (Ken) Kramer; two grandsons, Shawn (Tina) Jeffries and Christopher Vest; two great-grandsons, Kurk and Nathan Jeffries; nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 22, 1999, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 1999, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home, followed by entombment at the Chapel of the Chimes Mausoleum at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

David Clifton Sloan Sr.

GULFPORT - David Clifton Sloan Sr., 75, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in Gulfport.
Mr. Sloan was a native of Decatur, Ala., and a resident of the Coast since 1982. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was an automotive salesman. He was a member of the Family Worship Center in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eliza Sloan; and a sister, Louise Sloan.
Survivors include his wife, Cecil Alexander Sloan of Gulfport; six sons, Sanford Clark Sloan of Friendship, Tenn., David Clifton Sloan of Decatur, Randall Sloan of Nashville, Jeffery Lynn Sloan of Biloxi, and Timothy Dewayne Sloan and Clay Thomas Sloan, both of Gulfport; two daughters, Roxanne Sloan and Deborah Ann Strickland, both of Gulfport; a sister, Maggie Hazelrig of Decatur; 16 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A service was held Saturday at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North, Gulfport. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Larry Bob Wade
Funeral: Memorial at 2 p.m. today at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.
PASCAGOULA - Larry Bob Wade, 61, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Pascagoula.
Mr. Wade had been a resident of Pascagoula for the past 57 years. He was a member of the Methodist faith and was a ceramic tile setter by trade. He served four years in the Navy and was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Earl Wade and Virgie Gross Wade; and two brothers, Willie Jeff Wade and Jessie M. Wade.
Survivors include a brother, Jack E. Wade.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.
