Milford Hall
Nettleton -- Milford Hall, 83, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at his residence. He was born on Dec. 7, 1919, in Lee County to Dillard and Ollie Richards Hall. He was a lifelong resident of Nettleton, a retired school bus driver and handyman, and a Methodist.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Liberty Cemetery with the Rev. James Gibson officiating. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton will be in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Earline Hester Hall of Tupelo; one son, John T. Hall and a special friend, Kaye, of Nettleton; three sisters, Lucille Caldwell and her husband, Charles and Frankie Jean Mann, both of Nettleton, Maynard Shackelford of Plantersville; one sister-in-law, Lula Hall of Amory; one granddaughter, Chanis Murphree and her husband, Allen, of Nettleton; a former daughter-in-law, Linda Carson of Plantersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marba Golterman; two brothers, Johnny Merle Hall and John D. "Junior" Hall.
Pallbearers will be J.W. Humble, Tommy Mann, Mike Mann, Brad Gilmore, Skip Frances and Terry Patterson.
Visitation will continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m.Friday at the funeral home.
JIMMIE TAYLOR
GREENWOOD SPRINGS -- Services for Jimmie Easter Taylor, 87, who died Tuesday at her residence, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial of Aberdeen with Rev. Bob Wilburn officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor was a lifelong resident of the Green wood Springs community, a 1935 graduate of Green wood Springs High School and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Amory. She retired from Sharp Manufacturing/TIL as a seamstrees.She was employed at the Gulf Ordinance Plant in Prairie and at Ingalls Ship Yard during World War II.
She leaves a daughter, Pat Tubb and her husband, Robert, of Columbus; two sons, Steve Taylor and his wife, Claudette, of Amory and Allen Taylor and his wife, Diane, of Green wood Springs; seven grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Bernice Easter of Verona and a special caretaker, Libby Luker.
Pallbearers will be Doug Taylor, Tommy Taylor, Greg Tubb, Chris Mims, Kenneth Taylor, Allen Wayne Taylor and Phillip Taylor.Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Michael Boland.
Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Church in Amory.
MARGUERITE BROWN
COLUMBUS - Services for Marguerite Atkins Brown, 84, who died Wednesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial in Aberdeen with Revs. David Westmoreland and R. D. Cline officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was born in Lamar County and lived in Aberdeen many years before moving to Columbus. She worked at Alabama ; a brother, Sam Atkins and wife, Lavae, of Great Falls, Montana; a sister-in-law, Juanita Atkins of Columbus; a step-daughter, Carol Newell and husband, Charles, of Columbus; a step-son, Billy Brown and wife, Bonnie, of Gardner, Kansas, six grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
RAY TAYLOR
HATLEY - Services for Emal Ray Taylor, 56, who died Monday at North Texas. Visitation will take place from 5 until 8 p.m. Saturday at Tisdale-Lann Memorial in Aberdeen. Complete arrangements will be announced later.
SARAH GRIMES
BARTAHATCHIE - Services for Sarah Zelma Ray Grimes, 70, who died Thursday at North Alabama. She was a retired seamstress and a former waitress at Bright Star Restaurant. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
She leaves her husband, Arvel Grimes of Gattman; a son, Sammy James Norris of Talladega, Mississippi; three brothers, Barton Ray, Jr. and Roy Ray of Hamilton; and Dennis L. Ray of Gattman; two grandsons, Eric and Alan Norris and a great grandchild, Devin Norris; a stepson, Mark Grimes of Amory and a stepdaughter, Deanne Grimes of Amory; five step grandchildren and one step-great grandchild.
Pallbearers are Alan Norris, Jerry Ray, Danny Sanders, Ricky Ray, Richard Ray, Roger Ray, Glen Ray, Tony Taylor and Steve Taylor.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
EVELYN STODDARD
ABERDEEN - Services for Evelyn Sue Brown Stoddard, 53, who died Thursday at North Kentucky with Rev. Brad King officiating. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery with Tisdale-Lann Memorial of Aberdeen in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stoddard was born in Eubanks, Kentucky. She was a homemaker.
She leaves her husband, Carl Cary Stoddard of Aberdeen; her father, Charles Dean Brown of Waynesburg, Kentucky; and Sharon Carney and Rita Maddox of Stanford, Kentucky; and Charles Brown and Randy Brown of Waynesburg, Missouri, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial in Aberdeen with Dr. Roy McHenry officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Duckworth was born in Mississippi, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was retired District Sales Manager for Farm Bureau Insurance anda member of River Bend Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Eugenia Cleo Bryan Duckworth of Aberdeen; a daughter, Sarah Ann Duckworth Stearns of O'Fallon, Mississippi Medical Center Women's Hospital, will be held at the Nettleton Cemetery with Dr. Keith Dowden officiating. Tisdale-Lann Memorial of Nettleton is in charge of the arrangements.
She leaves her parents, Yinessa Brunson and Jessica Skelton Gray, both of Nettleton; maternal grandparents, Patti Bishop Barber of Nettleton and Tim Skelton and his fiance, Teresa Thompson, both of Tupelo; paternal grandparents, Michael and Donna Brunson of Nettleton, and a half-sister, Jasmine Gray of Nettleton.
WARD BRANDON JEFFERSON, JR.
ABERDEEN -Services for Ward Branson Jefferson, Jr., 64, who died Sunday at Pioneer Community Hospital of Aberdeen, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at First Pentecostal Church in Aberdeen with Rev. Ricky Bowen and Bro. Robbie Ross officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Sardis Cemetery in Winston County.
Mr. Jefferson was born in West Point and had lived in Aberdeen the past fifteen years. He served in the Alabama.
He leaves three daughters, Vicki Barnes and husband Jay of Aberdeen, Denise Smith and husband Leon of Belk, Mississippi; two sons, Delane Jefferson of Aberdeen and Tyrone Jefferson and wife Deborah of Aberdeen; a sister, Joyce Laverne Warren and husband Sloke of Dekalb, Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial in Aberdeen with Rev. Charles E. Coggins officiating. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Hill was born in Newton, Ohio and Mt. Holyoke College in S. Hadley, Mississippi; 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and ten nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to French Camp Academy, French Camp, Mississippi, or to a favorite charity.
