MARY RUTH BYRD
ABERDEEN -Services for Mary Ruth Byrd, 62, who died Monday at North Alabama and had lived in Aberdeen the past ten years. She was a homemaker.
She leaves two daughters, Jo Ann David and husband George of Aberdeen and Donnia Davis and husband Ronnie of Ecru; a son, Kenneth Wayne Beard of Aberdeen; two sisters, Frances Long and husband Bobby of Aberdeen and Maxine Mason of Chesapeake, Virginia; two brothers, Raymond Barnett and wife Alene of Amory and Marlin Junior Barnett and wife Lavon of Aberdeen; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
CHARLES E. SIMS, JR.
ABERDEEN - Services for Charles E. Sims, Jr., 86, who died Saturday at Pioneer Community Hospital of Aberdeen, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial in Aberdeen with Rev. Bob Secrist officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Sims was born in Smithville, was a graduate of Aberdeen High School, a Mason and a member of the Baptist church. He was a retired U. S. Air Force Master Sergeant and a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, serving for 29 years.
Pallbearers are Walter Lann, Jr., Murphree Evans, Ed White, Jr., Wren West, Ed White, Sr. and Billy Herndon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to a favorite charity.
MINNIE LOU SAVAGE
HAMILTON - Services for Minnie Lou Winders Savage, 95, who died Monday in West Point, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial in Aberdeen with Brothers Mike Mathena and Dennis Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Savage was a lifelong resident of Hamilton, a homemaker and member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
She leaves three daughters, Leta Hill and husband, Hugh of Prairie; Louise Miller and husband, Marshall of West Pointand Judy Gaskin of West Point; a son, Ed Savage of Hamilton; two sisters, Ruby Jewel Boyd and husband, Red of Hamilton and Tennie B. Collins and husband, Anderson of Hamilton; a brother, Carl Winders and wife, Aileen of Hamilton; a daughter-in-law, Julie Savage of Hamilton; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Glen Savage, Mike Savage, Tony Miller, Robert Gaskin, Dan Harris and Matthew Owens. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Winders, Randy Boyd, Bobby Winders, Terry Winders, Charles Wayne Winders, Eugene Winders, and Robert Owens.
JAN PATTERSON
ABERDEEN - Services for Jan Pegues Patterson, 75, who died Saturday at the Pillars of Aberdeen, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Episcopal Church with Father Jeff Reich officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery under the direction of Tisdale-Lann Memorial of Aberdeen.
Mrs. Patterson was born in Lee County. She graduated from Tupelo High School, attended Mary Baldwin College and graduated from Blue Mountain College with a degree in religion. She received her juris doctorate from the University of Alabama before moving to Aberdeen in 1950. She taught school in Aberdeen and Hamilton. She practiced law with her late husband, Robert D. Patterson, in the Patterson & Patterson law firm. She was a a member of the Monroe County, Oklahoma and Mary Reed Evans and husband, Franklin of Aberdeen; a son, Robert D. Patterson, Jr. and wife, Jackie of Gulf Shores, Alabama and moved to Hamilton in 1939. She was a homemaker.
She leaves two daughters, Elsie Marie Parish of Okolona and Sandra K. Poole of Hamilton; a son, Charles W. Crump of Hamilton; a sister, Dorothy Latture of Kennewick, Alabama.
Mrs. Ottwas born in Lamar County, Alabama.
Mrs. Sizemore was born in Birmingham and was raised by her grandmother, Ida Wright Johnston. She had lived in Aberdeen 35 years. She graduated from Sulligent, Mississippi University for Women and graduated from Vaughn's Beauty College. She was a member of Sulligent Freewill Baptist Church. She was a hairdresser and was employed at EKA Chemicals in Columbus.
She leaves a daughter, Shaine Sizemore Donoho of Columbus; two grandchildren, Christian and Tyler Donoho, and several cousins.
Pallbearers are Dr. Henry Watson, Dr. Richard Evans, Leonard Hussey, Mickey Mayo, Robert Williams and Tyler Donoho.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
JOE LEE DEAN
ABERDEEN - Services for Joe Lee Dean, 45, who died Monday at his residence, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Aberdeen High School gymnasium with Rev. Todd Bowen officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery with full military rites. Tisdale-Lann Memorial of Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dean was a lifelong residence of Aberdeen and a graduate of Aberdeen High School. He served in the National Guard for 18 years and was a patrol officer with the Aberdeen Police Department for 25 years. He had served as a Monroe County constable for the past sixteen years. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Debbie Butler Dean of Aberdeen; a son, Joseph Reed "J.R." Dean of Aberdeen; a brother, Phillip Eugene Dean of Aberdeen; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Bruce West, Ray Atkins, Justin Peters, Phillip George, Michael Robinson, Jimmy Pace and Dewayne Wells.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Aberdeen Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff Department, and constable association.
JUDY STEVENS
NETTLETON - Services for Judy C. Mask Stevens, 55, who died Tuesday at North Mississippi to own her own clinic.
She leaves her husband, Jerry Stevens; her mother, Anna Clayton Mask; daughter, Rhonda Karlsson; a son, Dale Stevens; two brothers, Leon Mask and Larry Mask; and five grandchildren, Erica Logan, Alex Logan, Joslan Stevens Savannah Stevens and Cheyenne Stevens, all of the Carolina Community.
Pallbearers are Leo Mask, Tony Mask, Joey Mask, Jonathan Mask, Brad Mask and Gerald New York. Tisdale-Lann Memorial of Aberdeen is in charge of local arrangements, and Carleton Funeral Home of Hudson Falls, New York for 82 years and in Aberdeen for the past five years. She was a county home nurse in Saratoga, Connecticut; four grandchildren, Tammy Huff, Jeff Fitzpatrick, Joseph Banlaki and Ava Banlaki; two great-grandchildren, Kati Huff and Jack Huff, and several nieces and nephews.
RITA LOVELL
HAMILTON - Services for Rita Rooks Lovell, 58, who died Tuesday at her residence, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Fig Hill Church of God in Hamilton with Sister Helen Smith and Brother Ricky Kendrick officiating. Burial will be Fig Hill Cemetery under the direction of Tisdale-Lann Memorial of Aberdeen.
Mrs. Lovell was born in Green sboro, North Carolina; four brothers, Tony Rooks of Hamilton, Charles Rooks of Detroit, Georgia and David Rooks of Columbus, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Cody Wayne Honeycutt, Madison Dawn Huffman, Taylor Grace Phillips and Thomas Daniel Huffman.
Pallbearers are Phillip Elam, Wayne Bailey, Sterling Coleman, Rick Chaffin, Steve Chaffin, David Reiland, James Smith, Tony Rooks and Patrick Rooks.
Visitation will take place from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
HORTIS JOHNSTON
NETTLETON - Services for Hortis Johnston, 80, who died Saturday at his residence, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial in Nettleton with the Revs. Aubrey Boren and James Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park in Verona.
Mr. Johnston was a lifelong resident of Nettleton and a retired 30-year employee of Deviney Construction. He was a Baptist.
He leaves his wife, Patsy Craft Johnston of Nettleton; three daughters, Lynda Payne of Olive Branch, Janey Aiena of Columbus, and Sharyn Knight of Shannon; a sister, Dollie Caldwell of Aberdeen; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 5 until 8p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
