Services were held Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home for Thelma McMurphy, 81, of Gulfport, formerly of Laurel, who died June 16 at Gulfcoast Medical Center.
Burial was in Memory Gardens in Moss.
Mrs. McMurphy was a homemaker and a retired artist and musician. She was of the Assembly of God faith.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, al Scott and Carl McMurphy, and parents, John W. Myrick and Nancy Myrick.
Survivors include two sons, R. J. Scott and Jimmy Scott, both of Laurel; a daughter, Shirley Jackson of Gulfport; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
ETTA LOUISE MEEKS
RICHTON
Graveside services were held Friday, June 20, 2003, at Highland Cemetery for Etta Louise Meeks, 73, of Richton, formerly of Stonewall, who died June 18 at M.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital in Quitman.
Mrs. Meeks was a native of Laurel and was a sales agent for Liberty National Life Insurance Company. She was Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Meeks, and a son, Wayne Meeks.
Survivors include a son, Allen Meeks of Stonewall; two sisters, Pauline Fulkerson and Winfred Holliman, both of Hattiesburg; a brother, Demp Smith of Laurel; and two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Meeks and Brittany Lee Meeks, both of Stonewall.

ELLISVILLE
Services were held Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church for Marilyn T. Moore, 43, of Ellisville, who died June 12 at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.
Burial was in Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Donnie Moore of Ellisville; her parents, Bobbie Star of Laurel and the Rev. Shirley Wright of Ellisville; two sons, Cory McDonald of Hattiesburg and Timothy McDonald of Laurel; three daughters, Donna Hawthorne of Collins, Teresa Moore of Ellisville, and Kaleeda Star of Laurel; two sisters, Joyce Star and Patricia Musgrove, both of Collins; six brothers, Christopher Star of Laurel, Tracy Keyes of Jackson, Emmit Star and David Star, both of Collins, and Ricky Cole and Kenneth Keyes, both of Ellisville; her grandmother, Mary Allen House; and nine grandchildren.

HATTIESBURG
Graveside services were held Thursday, June 19, 2003 at Hillcrest Cemetery for Lola McMahan Morin, 100, of Hattiesburg, who died June 17 at Forrest General Hospital.
Mrs. Morin was a former Greyhound Bus Lines terminal manager and a member of Main Street Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Morin.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were held Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Bernice Morrow, 56, of Purvis, who died June 14 at Wesley Medical Center.
Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery in Purvis.
Mrs. Morrow was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Morrow.
Survivors include her mother, Marie Johnson of Lumberton; a son, Eric Morrow of Purvis; a daughter, Amy Nobles of Purvis; a sister, Carolyn Lee of Lumberton; a brother, Ricky Johnson of Lumberton; and a grandchild.

Services were held Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at Jones Funeral Home for Rosie Mae Cox McSwain Norris, 67, of Laurel, formerly of Richton, who died June 21 at Jones County Rest Home.
Burial was in Sunset Cemetery in Richton.
Medrick Savell and Robby Johnson officiated.
Pallbearers were Bryan Walley, Lance Williams, Scott Fenton, Dempsey Brewer, Lavon McLain, and L. W. Warden.
Mrs. Norris was a homemaker and a member
of Calhoun Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Norris; a great-granddaughter, Kinsley T. Walley; two sisters, Hatte Hancock and Mattie Clark; a brother, George Cox; three half sisters, Ada Gors, Nola Jones and Minnie B. Walley; and three half brothers, Levi Cox, Oscar Cox, and Loranzi Cox.
Survivors include a son, Denny McSwain of Virginia; three daughters, Ruthie Anderson of Laurel, Darlene Walley of McComb, and Mary Walley of Richton; two sisters, Gladys Hillman of Richton and Dorothy “Dot” Cooley of Pass Christian; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

JOHN ALLEN OGLESBEE
COLUMBIA
Services were held Friday, June 20, 2003, at North Columbia Baptist Church for John Allen Oglesbee, 38, of Columbia, who died unexpectedly June 15 in Columbia.
Rev. Brian Stewart officiated.
Interment was in New Brushy Creek Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Columbia, Mr. Oglesbee served in the U.S. Air Force and attended Pearl River Community College. He was a laboratory technician and a member of North Columbia Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth L. Oglesbee.
Survivors include his father, Sedgie Oglesbee of Columbia; his mother, Helen S. Oglesbee of Columbia; a brother, Brian Oglesbee of Columbia; and a nephew, Cole Oglesbee of Columbia.

Services were held Friday, June 20, 2003, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home for Pauline R. Rawls, 86, of Laurel, who died June 17, at Jones County Rest Home.
Burial was in Lake Park Hills Cemetery in Laurel.
Mrs. Rawls was the retired owner and operator of Polly’s Drive Inn and was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Canton Rawls.
Survivors include a son, Lavelle Rawls of Laurel; three daughters, Pat Dickerson of Laurel, Lanelle Reddoch of Hebron, and Barbara R. Elmore of Hawaii; three sisters, Jewel Hanberry of Hattiesburg, Verna Mae Aultman of Jacksonville, and Inez Brown of Lawton, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Colonial Funeral Home for John L. “Jay” Raybourn, 84, of Columbia, who died June 15 at Prentiss Regional Hospital.
Burial was in Mount Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Raybourn was a retired salesman and a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Annie Raybourn.
Survivors include his wife, Verdee Bennett Raybourn of Columbia; three sisters, Dorothy Bonner and Mary C. Kendrick, both of Columbia, and Jettie V. Stogner of Petal; and three brothers, Shelton Raybourn of Petal, Hilton Raybourn of Columbia, and Delton Raybourn of Oloh.

Services were held Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Truelight Baptist Church for Willie Rogers, 72, of Hattiesburg, who died June 15 at Forrest General Hospital.
Burial was in Community Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy H. Rogers of Hattiesburg; six daughters, Cassandra Rogers Darby of Petal, Jill Rogers, Bessie Duncan, and Carolyn Mickels, all of Hattiesburg, Jacqueline Griggs of Durant, and Deborah McFarland of New Orleans; a sister, Lela Mae Dobbs of Milwaukee; two brothers, James Rogers of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and John Rogers of Milwaukee; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, June 20, 2003, at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home for Mary M. Snowden, 94, of Hattiesburg who died June 17 at her residence.
Burial was in Roseland Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Snowden was a retired teacher and a longtime member of Main Street Baptist Church and Willow Pointe Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall A. Snowden.
Survivors include a son, John M. Snowden of Columbus, Texas; three sisters, Grace Tolar of Columbia, Marcia Wasson of Kosciusko, and Daisy Higgins of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Melvin Meek of Columbia; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Poplarville First Baptist Church for Robert Howard Turnage, 70, of Poplarville, who died June 18 at his residence.
Rev. Butch Knight, Clifford Lazenby and Kenny Peavy officiated.
Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia.
Mr. Turnage was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Poplarville. He taught school at Poplarville High School, West Marion, Columbia and Card Loftin Vo-Tech Center in Columbia and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn M. Turnage of Poplarville; a son, Robert Turnage of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Cathy T. Lee of Petal and Brenda J. Morris of Gulfport; and eight grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Hulett-Winstead Chapel for Mrs. Mildred M. Watts, 97, of Hattiesburg, who died June 15 at Hattiesburg Convalescent Home.
Burial was in Roseland Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Watts was a homemaker and a member of Parkway Heights United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford King Watts.
Survivors include a son, James M. Watts of Jackson; a daughter, Sue Phillips of Hattiesburg; seven grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday, June 18, 2003, at roseland Park Cemetery for Charles S. “Chuck” Wheeler, 74, of Hattiesburg, formerly of St. Charles, Va., who died June 17 at Forrest General Hospital.
Mr. Wheeler wa a retired civil service worker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ada and Charlie Wheeler.
Survivors include his companion, Margaret C. Davis of Petal; a son, Raleigh Logan of Brandon; and a daughter, Lyla Rae Saucier of Ocala, Fla.
