Services were held May 21, 2003, at Community Funeral Home for Ray Alford, 74, of Foxworth, who died May 19 at Marion General Hospital.
Burial was in Foxworth Cemetery.
Mr. Alford served in the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Alford and Nettie Alford.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Alford of Foxworth; two sons, Keith Alford of Foxworth and Kenneth Ray Alford of Columbia; a daughter, Lea Nance of Foxworth; two stepsons, Gerald Leming and Joe Leming, both of Columbia; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Missionary Baptist Church in Arkansas for Thomas Dale Beavers, 57, of Del Rio, Thompson beavers of Del Rio, Texas; his stepmother, Robin L. Farmer of Laurel; his stepfather, Charles Arrambide of Richardson, Calif., and Ken of Jackson; a daughter, Gerry Edwards of Hattiesburg; a sister, Helen Chadima, of Iowa; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Moore Funeral Home for Wanda Hatten, 60, of Wiggins, who died June 23 at Parker Jr., and Gary Parker, both of Wiggins; and three grandchildren.

POPLARVILLE
Services were held Saturday, June 28, 2003, at White Funeral Home Chapel for Mary Jan D’Hemecourt, 85, of Poplarville, who died June 26 at Picayune Convalescent Center.
Rev. Allen King officiated.
Mrs. D’Hemecourt was a retired society editor for the Jefferson Parish Times of Metarie, La., and a society editor of the East St. Louis Journal of East St. Louis, ILL.
Survivors include her husband, Jules D’Hemecourt; and a son, Jules a. D’Hemecourt, IV.
White Funeral Home of Poplarville was in charge of arrangements.
MARY E. HOLIFIELD
ELLISVILLE
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Springhill Cemetery for Mary Ellen Holifield, 74, of Ellisville, who died June 26 at South Central Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Holifield was a homemaker and a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Vowell of Ellisville; three sons, Darryl Holifield and Thomas Holifield, both of Laurel, and Glen Holifield of Biloxi; a daughter, Barbara Jo Roney of Laurel; a brother, Warren “Buck” Valentine of Laurel; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Jones Funeral Home of Ellisville was in charge of arrangements.

SOSO
Graveside services were held Friday, June 27, 2003, at Union Line cemetery in Jones County for A. L. Johnson, 85, of Soso, who died June 25 at Cedar Personal Care Home in Soso.
Mr. Johnson retired from Wayne Poultry in Laurel and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice G. Johnson of Soso; a stepson, Bobby Williamson of Soso; a stepdaughter, Jeanette Craft of Soso; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
