William Earl Barnes
Graveside services for William Earl Barnes, 66, of Kosciusko were held April 11 at 11:30 a.m. at Seneasha Cemetery.
Barnes, a retired truck and school bus driver, died April 9, 2002 at his residence. He was a native of Goodman and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jones Barnes and a son, James Earl Barnes, both of Kosciusko; three daughters, Sharon Abel of Pulaski, Michele Mae McDaniel of Zama, and Stacy Aileen Barnes of Kosciusko; two sisters, Polly Pridmore of Commerce, Woods Jones of McCool; a sister, Tene J. McQuirter of Kosciusko; two brothers, Robert A. "Bob" Jones of McCool and Travis Jones of Collierville, Tenn.; three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edsel Ray Jones.
Officiating ministers were the Rev. Tony Black, the Rev. Jimmy Threadgill and the Rev. John Armstrong.
Pallbearers were Dwight Brantley, Charles Thomas Pender Jr., Roy Goss, Arlis "Bubba" Steen, Elvis Brantley, Bobby McKnight, Charles Kelly Black, Mark Bradberry, Larry Black, Mike Hutchinson, Pop Lawrence and Larry Milner.
Honorary pallbearers were personnel of the Attala County Sheriff's Department.
Memorials may be made to Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.
Burin Kimbrough
Services for Burin Kimbrough, 84, of McCool were held April 3 at 2 p.m. at Abraham Chapel M.B. Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Kimbrough, a retired farmer, died March 27, 2002 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Attala County and a member of Abraham Chapel M.B. Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Gerthia G. Kimbrough; a daughter, Mary Helen Texas; seven grandchildren one great-grandchild; three step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild.
Minister Paul Sparks officiated.
Pallbearers were Jason Burroff, Bailey Simpson, Buddy Simpson, Johnny Simpson, Shane Tucker and David Earl Hudgins.
Southern Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Clarence A. Cook
Funeral services for Clarence A. Cook, 98, of Kosciusko, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Culpepper-Nowell Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Providence Cemetery.
Cook, a native of Attala County, died June 8, 2002 at the Attala County Nursing Center. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by a son, Donald Cook of Vaiden; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Billy Little officiated.
Serving as pallbearers were Ed McDonald, Stewart McDonald, Johnny Cook, Clark Cook, Anthony Cook and Patrick Cook.
Stephanie Jobe
Services for Mrs. Stephanie Jobe, 35, of Satartia, were held Friday at 10 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mrs. Jobe, a clinical technician, died June 5, 2002 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Robert Jobe Jr. of Satartia; her mother, Johnnie Carolyn Dallas of Satartia; three brothers, Bryce Dallas of Jackson, Phillip Dallas of Satartia, and Terence Dallas of Milton, Fla.; a grandson, Clayton Dallas Jobe.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Pierce Dallas.
The Rev. Larry Harvey and the Rev. Harvey Overstreet officiated.
Pallbearers were David Montgomery, Ken Mangrum, Jeffrey Mangrum, Mark Curtis, Duaine Evans and Jarvis Poche.
Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
James Ralph Johnson
Services for James Ralph Johnson, 62, of Atlanta, were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Traveler's Rest M.B. Church with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
Johnson, a factory worker, died June 3, 2002 at Craft Long Memorial Hospital in Atlanta following an illness of several days. He was a native of Attala County and a member of Traveler's Rest M.B. Church.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Hannah Johnson of Kosciusko; a daughter, Janice R. Johnson of Gary, Ind.; a son, James Ralph Johnson Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Sandra Murrell of Kosciusko and Mrs. Evelyn McCurty of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Terry Johnson of Kosciusko and Melvin Moore of Chicago; one grandson.
The Rev. Cleotis Wood officiated.
Pallbearers were John Bayne, Henry Hawthorne, Tyrone McAfee, Charles Hull, Lawrence McDonald and Sammie Adams.
Mary P. Kirkland
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary P. Kirkland, 94, of Kosciusko were held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Parkway Cemetery.
The Rev. Ed Hartman and the Rev. John Armstrong officiated.
Mrs. Kirkland died June 11, 2002 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Green ville Garden Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Bobbye Kate King of Green ville; a son, John D. Kirkland of Lewisburg, Pa.; a brother, O.K. "Bully" Power of Jackson; four half-sisters, Jane Rodgers of Sun City, Fla., Sue Power, Helen Virginia Power, both of Kosciusko, and Elsie Ann Sturtevant of Memphis; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
