Catherine Sims Patton
Services for Mrs. Catherine Sims Patton, 92 of Topeka, Kan., formerly of Kosciusko, were held Monday at 3 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Bear Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Patton, a native of Attala County, was the daughter of Henry and Leola Huffman. She was a graduate of Weir High School and East Central Junior College in Decatur.
She was married to Leon Sims of Kosciusko in 1936 in Carthage. He was killed in a tractor accident in 1966. She married Roy C. Patton, formerly of Springfield, Ill., in 1972. In 1992, she moved to the Tucker Apartments in Carbondale, Kan. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kosciusko where she was president of her Sunday School class for several years. She attended the Christian Fellowship Church of Carbondale.
She is survived by a son, Jerry L. Sims of Topeka; step daughter, Ester Patton Kirby of Buffalo, Ill.; a sister, Leolene Hann of Waverly, Texas; his mother, Catherine Sharpe of Kosciusko; two sisters, Shauntee Mosley of South Korea and Tonya Hill of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Rev. Charles Smith officiated.
Pallbearers were Cornell Richmond, Raymond Fondern, Phillip Coffee, Emit Dodd, James Skinner, Greg Lipsey and Detrick Harmon.
May Bell Mitchell
Funeral services for Mrs. May Bell Mitchell, 87, of Lansing, Mich., were held Jan. 18, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with burial in Deepdale Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Mitchell, a native of Ethel was the daughter of the late Herbert T. and Rhoda May Burns. She died Jan. 13, 2005 at Ingham Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Portland Chapter No. 258 OES, a life member of Auxiliary Post 701, VFW, and a member of MOCA No. 5.
She was preceded in death by her husband Victor A. Mitchel Sr. to whom she was married two months short of 69 years; her parents; son, victor A. Mitchell, Jr.; five brothers and one granddaughter.
She is survived by three daughters, Margie Gladding, Dorris Click and Norene White; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, all of the Lansing area; a brother, Thornton Burns; sisters Carnell Rodgers, Effie Jones and India Sanders of Kosciusko; numerous nieces and nephews.
Ms. Pecolia Carr
Services for Ms. Pecolia Carr were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill M.B. Church with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Clarence Benton Minyard
Services for Clarence Benton Minyard, 92, of Lexington were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery. He died Jan. 27, 2005 at the Texas; two daughters, Velma Ann Kernop of Camden and Sally Mae Summers of Kosciusko; five brothers, James Edward Burrell of McAdams, James Willis Burrell of Goodman, Arthur Ellis Burrell of Walnut Grove, Clyde William Burrell of Slidell, La., and James Leon Burrell of Broken Bow, Okla.; six sisters, Stella McNeil, Wilma Irene Van Winkle of Kosciusko, Ollie Mae Yarborough of Waveland, Elsie Marie Jones of Houston, Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a native of Choctaw County and a member of Wake Forest Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Cress Collier and Henry Collier of Ackerman; two brothers, James K. Collier and John D. Collier of Ackerman; a sister, Ruby Butler of Maben; 10 grandchildren; a stepson, Scott Wise of Starkville; two stepdaughters, Dawn Fulce of Purvis and Amelia Moore of Starkville.
Memorials may be made to Wake Forest Baptist Church in Sturgis.
James F. Davis
Services for James F. Davis, 80, of Kosciusko were held Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Tipton Street Church of Christ with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
Davis, a native of Attala County, died Jan. 25, 2003 at his residence. He was a member of the Tipton Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Warleana Bentley Davis; sisters, Hattie Sue Grams of Kosciusko, Johnnie Pearl "Honey" Jackson of Vaiden; a brother, Charlie Davis of Detroit.; a stepson, four step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Rev. Eric V. Dawkins officiated.
Winters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Leroy Watson, Paul Greer, J.R. Clark, Prince Lewis, James Riley, Albert Nickerson.
Mary Estelle Hegwood
Services for Mrs. Mary Estell Hegwood, 92, of Ocala, Fla., will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Ocala.
Mrs. Hegwood, lived at Court Square Village in Kosciusko for many years before moving to Ocala to live with her son. She died Jan. 31, 2003 at Monroe Regional Hospital in Ocala. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Kosciusko.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Hegwood, and a son, Cleatus Earl Hegwood.
She is survived by a son, Richard Cockrell and two grandchildren, all of Ocala.

Mary Alice Boyd Hughes
Services for Mrs. Mary Alice Boyd Hughes, 81, were held Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. at Owens Chapel AME Zion Church with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
Mrs. Hughes, a native of Holmes County, died Jan. 25, 2003 at the Attala County Nursing Home. She was a member of Owens Chapel AME Zion Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Perteet-Watson, Margurette Copp, and Bettie Perteet; two sons, James Perteet and George Perteet; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rev. Gowndly Hampton officiated with Winters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were George Perteet, Lonnie Watson, Cecil Copp, Edward Earl Brantley, Robert Earl Jamison and Tyrone Jamison.
Lorene Jenkins Jones
Graveside services for Mrs. Lorene Jenkins Jones, 85, of Byram were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Seneasha Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones, a native of Holmes County, died Jan. 28, 2003 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was a member of Jehovah's Witness.
She is survived by three sons, John Allen Jones Jr. of Kosciusko, James F. Jones of Hattiesburg and W.T. Jones of Byram; two sisters, Sally Jean Daniels of Louise and Inez Turoff of Gainesville, Fla.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Culpepper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Geneva Montague
Services for Mrs. Geneva Montague, 72, of Winona were held Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Friendship Cemetery in Attala County.
Mrs. Montague died Jan. 28, 2003 at the Green wood Leflore Hospital. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Annette Burden of Mary Esther, Fla., Lillie Mae Laney of Winona, Mary Jane Palmertree of Pearl; a son, Bennie S. Montague of French Camp; two sisters, Maedee Allen of Kosciusko, Qujette Evans of Winona; a brother, Johnnie S. Weeks of Kosciusko; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Rupert Ingram and Rev. Gary Jackson officiated.
She was the widow of Henry D. Montague.
Jeanette Odom
Services for Mrs. Jeanette Odom, 84, of Carthage were held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Peeler Memorial Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Odom, a retired inspector, died Feb. 2, 2003 at the Leake Memorial Hospital in Carthage. She was a member of Peeler Memorial Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Marzine Odom of Carthage; a daughter, Johnnie Odom Brock of Carthage; a brother, Choice Burkes of Edinburg; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Rev. Lamar Burkes and Rev. Sammy Ray officiated.
Pallbearers were Rodney Pinkard, Ronald Pinkard, Pete Burkes, Gwen Adams, Clinton Brock and Dale Johnson.
