William C. Slade
Brandon
William C. Slade, 87, died Feb. 28 at Rankin Medical Center.
Services were held March 2 at Bethel Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Slade was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and former co-owner of Gray and Slade Automotive in Brandon. A veteran of the Army, he was also a member of Tyrian Masonic Lodge of Brandon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Burnham Slade, and great-granddaughter, Mallorie Renee Nations.
Survivors include sons, Harry Slade of Flowood, Glen Slade of Walters, Gerald Slade and David Slade, both of Brandon; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 128 Bethel Church Road, Brandon, MS 39042.
Dr. Will M. Brown
Brandon
Dr. Will Moore Brown, 75, died Feb. 28 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Services were held March 3 at Brandon Presbyterian Church, with burial following in Lakeland Place Cemetery.
Dr. Brown was a native of Sharon. He was a member of Brandon Presbyterian Church. Dr. Brown was a member of the American Dental Association, a member of the Mississippi and also a graduate of the University of Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson after an extended illness.
A memorial service was held March 1 at Grace Baptist Church in Richland, with the Rev. Scott Walters officiating, followed by a private committal service for the immediate family at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Hazlehurst. Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram was in charge of arrangements.
A native of Hazlehurst, Mrs. Overstreet resided in Pearl for many years and was a member of Jesus Name Tabernacle Church in Florence. She spent the past two years at Brandon Nursing and Rehab Center, where she made many friends.
Survivors include her brother, Ray Peacock of Clinton; children, Nita Blankenship of Birmingham, Ala., Jeanette Dozier and Betty Dougalwicz, both of Richland, Jimmy Hyatt of Pearl, James Berry of Ellisville and Edward Hyatt of Jackson. Mrs. Overstreet had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Brandon Nursing and Rehab Center, River Oaks Hospital and Calif.; step-daughter, Cindy Lynch and husband Dave of Little Rock, Ark.; and 11 grandchildren.
Shirley Ann Sledge

Shirley Ann Sledge, 63, died Feb. 18 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Services were held Feb. 22 at Brandon's First United Methodist Church, with burial following at Hillcrest Cemetery in Petal. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sledge had been a resident of Rankin County since 1968. She was a member of Brandon's First United Methodist Church. A retired nurse, she was one of two nurses who opened and operated the first kidney dialysis center in Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries Inc., 450 Towncenter Blvd. in Ridgeland, 39157.
Gilbert Joseph Breaux Jr.
Richland
Gilbert Joseph Breaux Jr., 62, died Feb. 17 at the University of Mississippi Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Suite 103, 405 Fontaine Place, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the many medical personnel who have provided him care over the past years.
George 'Tommy' Reynolds
Pearl
George "Tommy" Reynolds, 70, died Feb. 17 at his residence in Pearl.
Mr. Reynolds, a native of Yazoo City, was a welder.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas Reynolds of Pearl and David Reynolds of Houston, Colo., Vivian Thomas of Florence and Deborah Wooster of Florence; brothers, Pryor Berry of Harrisville and Tally Berry of Brandon; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Charles O. Lewis
Star
Charles O. Lewis, 68, of Star died Feb. 19 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Services were held Feb. 22 at Star Baptist Church, with burial following in Star Cemetery. The Rev. Vic Bowman and the Rev. Vance Dyess officiated.
A native of Brookhaven, Mr. Lewis had lived in Star for the past 40 years. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was a retired machinist at Vickers and a member of the Star Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lewis, in 2003.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his son, Jimmy Lewis of Brandon; daughters, Robin Wigginton of Jackson, Lisa Dunn of Star and Tracy Brown of Florence; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to the National Alzheimer's Association.
