Jerrilene Wheeler

Jerrilene Wheeler, 70, died April 9 at Rankin Medical Center.
Graveside services were held April 12 in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Newton County. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl was in charge of arrangements.
Jerri had resided on Barnette Drive in Pearl since 1964. She was a wonderful inspiration to many people. She bore her burden of cerebral palsy with grace and dignity. Many were touched by her loving ways. She will be remembered by many who never knew her name but waved at the special lady sitting in the doorway in her wheelchair.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Lee and Jessie Mae Wheeler; and sister, Mable Wheeler Calhoun.
Survivors include her sister, Doris Wheeler of Pearl; two nieces; two nephews; two great-nieces; four great-nephews; three aunts, Wydell Clark of Rome, Ga., Lucy Gibbs of Brandon and Merle James of Bay Springs.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the wonderful people who made Jerri's life more enjoyable by taking the time to wave at her. Please know that she loved each and every one of you.
James Ott Lovitt

James Ott Lovitt, 83, died April 10 at his residence.
Funeral services were held April 12 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, with burial in Antioch Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Lovitt had been a longtime resident of Rankin County and a member of Crossgates United Methodist Church. He retired from the G.V. Sonny Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center as an electrician after 21 years. He also was a Mason, York Rite Bodies and member of the Wahabi. He was a World War II veteran, where he served in the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Lovitt of Brandon; sister, Inez Prine of Terry; brother, I.A. Lovitt of Raymond; brother-in-law, Rev. Tom Pace and wife Faye of Johns; sister-in-law, Doris Everitt of Pearl; niece, Pete Mapp of Pearl; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Tracy Vanlandingham
Dentville
Tracy Vanlandingham, 45, died April 9 in Copiah County from injuries from an auto accident.
A memorial service was held April 11 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.
Tracy was a native of Sunflower County and a resident of Dentville for the past year, moving from Brandon. He was Baptist. Tracy was the body shop manager for Copiah Body Shop and was an avid sportsman. He especially enjoyed hunting and playing golf. A passion that Tracy had in his life was simply being surrounded by his family and friends. Tracy was a very caring brother, uncle and loyal friend to those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sonny and Mary Lee Vanlandingham, and brother, Roy Vanlandingham.
Survivors include his sisters, Sandra Parham of Brandon and Janet Harmon of Ruleville; brothers, Don and Byron Vanlandingham of Brandon and Myron Vanlandingham of Wesson. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, T'Cee Vanlandingham of Brandon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield as a nursing supervisor in July of 1936 and was named the first Employee of the Year in 1978. She later retired after 44 years of service. Mrs. Flaherty also worked two years at Parchman. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pearl and the Eastern Star. Eloise was also preceded in death by her husband, Loyce Flaherty, in 1976.
She is survived by six cousins, Anse Barber, Wayne Barber, Delores Burns, George Burns, Barbara McMahan and Mary Elizabeth Ridlehoover; four nieces, Wilma Sheets, Mary Tapia, Billie Townsend and Sharon Wilt; and great nieces and great nephews.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Pearl or First Baptist Church of Brandon.
Hazel Huff
Pearl
Mrs. Hazel Huff, 76, died April 9 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were held April 11 at Clear Branch Baptist Church in Florence, with burial following in the church cemetery. The Rev. Raymond Jeffcoat officiated.
A resident of Pearl for more than 50 years, Mrs. Huff was a retired bus driver for the Pearl Public Schools and had retired from Wilson's as manager of the jewelry department. She attended Clear Branch Baptist Church.
Mrs. Huff was preceded in death by her husband, James Huff, and son, Wayne Huff.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa McWilliams and husband Kevin of Richland; brother, Leo Smith of Pearl; sisters, Mary Hudnall and husband Billy of Pearl and Darlene Watkins and husband Mike of Florence; grandchildren, Kevin Huff, Keith Huff and wife Amy, Timothy McWilliams and Samantha McWilliams; great-grandson, Mitchell Huff; and her special friend, Sue Wiggins.
Memorials may be made to Clear Branch Baptist Church.
Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence was in charge of arrangements.
Marian Weaver Powell

Marian Weaver Powell, 62, died April 10 at Woods Methodist Church. She was a former member of Alta Parker of Canton.
Pallbearers were Michael Brown, Larry Hamel, John Brandon Wynn, Bill Christ, Conrad Gilmore and Kevin Gilmore.
Kenneth R. Kelly
Brandon
Ken Kelly, 47, died Jan. 14 in Scott County from injuries of an auto accident.
Funeral services were held Jan. 17 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, with burial in Johns Cemetery. Dr. Frank Thomas officiated the services.
Ken was a native of Hinds County and grew up in the Jackson area. He moved to Rankin County a year ago from Slidell, La. He worked as a production facilitator at Milwaukee Electric Tools in Jackson and had been previously employed as a supervisor for Lockheed Martin in New Orleans for 13 years.
Ken attended Pinelake Baptist Church in Brandon. He was a graduate of Wingfield High School in Jackson and graduated from TX 75062.
