Irene Mae Korthals Bohlman
Brandon
Irene Mae Korthals Bohlman, 80, died Jan. 1 at the Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brandon.
A private family memorial service will be held later. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bohlman was born in Bristol, Conn. and lived most of her life in Milwaukee, Wis. She was a Lutheran. She loved cross stitching and knitting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Bohlman, in 1994; one son, Robert E. Bohlman Jr., in 1949; her parents, Karl and Hazel Korthals; and a brother, Karl E. Korthals.
Mrs. Bohlman is survived by one son, Richard W. Bohlman and wife Charlotte of Pearl; and two grandchildren, Robert A. Bohlman of Brandon and Karen Duke of Brandon.
Ernest Edward Orman Sr.
Pearl
Ernest Edward Orman Sr., 93, died Jan. 4 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were held Jan. 7 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, with graveside services at Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale. Dr. Bob Dominy and the Rev. Wade B. McCarley officiated the services.
Mr. Orman was born June 12, 1912 and grew up in west Mississippi. As a young man, he worked briefly for Mednikow Jewelers in Memphis, Tenn., before enlisting in and serving his country in the Army Signal Corps for four years. It was while in the service that he became an avid motorcyclist.
After his discharge from the Army, with the help of his older jeweler brother, Edgar H. Orman, he began a career in the jewelry business. He and his wife, Lavonia, owned and operated Orman Jewelers in Clarksdale for almost 50 years.
A few years after the death of his wife, he moved the business to Brandon, and later transferred the business to his son, John Thomas Orman, bringing in his grandson, John Grayson Orman, to help manage the business. Mr. Orman remained as a consultant and encourager. When he wasn't at the jewelry store, he was in his yard, growing beautiful flower gardens for neighbors to enjoy, as well as a very nice vegetable garden.
He loved nature, especially birds, and built many bird houses over the years, watching bird families come and go.
With little formal education, he managed to test and earn his Extra Class License in amateur radio, call sign WB5PMK, and enjoyed it tremendously for many years, having been inspired by his son, Ernest Edward Orman Jr.
As a young adult, Mr. Orman loved the relaxing activity of fishing and spent many refreshing hours off the shores of Moon Lake.
Mr. Orman believed in God, hard work, firmly believed a man's word was his bond, and he enjoyed a highly respected name, personally and professionally.
He was a charter member of Oakhurst Baptist Church in Clarksdale, which he called home, and he attended Park Place Baptist Church while living in Pearl.
Mr. Orman was preceded in death by his wife, Lavonia Mae Harris Orman, and a brother, James Eugene Ward. He leaves behind two sons, Ernest Edward Orman Jr. of Biloxi, and John Thomas Orman of Brandon; a brother, Edgar H. Orman of Sevierville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Ernest E. (Chip) Orman, III, Richard H. Orman and Robert S. (Bobby) Orman, all of Biloxi, Susan Snyder of Las Vegas, Nev., and John Grayson Orman and Lesa Orman Futrell, both of Brandon; and nine great-grandchildren.

William C. (Joe) Myers
Pelahatchie
William C. (Joe) Myers, 69, died Jan. 5 at his home.
Funeral services were held Jan. 8 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, with burial in Springhill Cemetery. Bro. Jerry Holmes and Dr. Billy McKay officiated the services.
Mr. Myers was a native and lifelong resident of Rankin County. He was a member of the Do Right Hunting Club and loved gardening and tending to his cattle. Mr. Myers was an Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion in Pelahatchie. He was a Mason and was a member of Barefoot Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Myers was preceded in death by a son, Billy Myers; sister, Ruby Frances Myers; and brother, Herman Myers.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Myers of Pelahatchie; daughters, Lynn Johnson and Michael of Pelahatchie; Michelle Eye and Travis of Harmon, W. Va., Debra Conger and Rocky of Pelahatchie and Linda Shoemaker and Ricky of Pelahatchie; stepchildren, Davis Tucker, Arnold Tucker, Robert Tucker, Louise Urbina and Byron Tucker; brothers, Lamar (Buddy) Myers and Vivian, and Henry Myers and Karen; nine grandchildren, Rocky Jack Conger, Magen Conger, Billy Jack Myers, Ashleigh Myers, Clayton Eye, Mason Eye, Brooklyn Johnson, Bailey Johnson and Alex Johnson, his very special little buddy.
Pallbearers were Tony Myers, Waymon Parker, Rex White, Brian Hall, J.B. Franklin and Ryan White.

Oris Red Patton, 72, died Jan. 6 at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood.
Funeral services were held Jan. 9 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, with burial in New Home Cemetery in Simpson County. Bro. Dewitt Bain and Bro. Larry Herndan officiated the services.
Mr. Patton was a native of Springler, Okla. Before moving to Indiana; and Hunter's father, Alex Ray of Richland.
Crawford M. Bryant

Crawford M. Bryant, 69, died Jan. 9 at his residence.
Funeral services were held Jan. 11 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, with burial in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Mr. Bryant was employed by Hinds Business Machines for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his son, Jason Bryant of Pearl; daughters, Jill Havard of Pearl, Dawn Barnhill of Hazlehurst and Jessica Bryant of Tupelo; brothers, Lee Suber of Pearl, Gene Bryant of Clinton and Claude Routh of Pearl; sisters, Ruby Bahm and Myrtlene Watford, both of Pearl; and grandchildren, Derek and Laura Havard.
Faye Ashley

Faye Ashley, 90, died Jan. 8 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were held Jan. 10 at Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, with burial at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Crystal Springs. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ashley was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Jackson. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Fae Nell Ashley and Rita Powers; sisters, Nettie Bunch, Lilla Marie Bunch, Margarette Bunch, Juliet Bunch, Gertrude Bunch and Isabell Bunch; and brothers, George Henry Bunch and Willie Eugene Bunch.
Mrs. Ashley is survived by her sons, Danny Ashley of Clinton, and James E. Ashley and his wife Mildred of Brandon; daughter, Pat Carter and Jimmy Carter; 26 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Gail Caroline Dear, 70, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at her home in Clinton. Funeral services were Jan. 26 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon with burial in the Terry City Cemetery. The Rev. Ronnie Cupstid officiated.
Mrs. Dear was born in Evansville, Ind. and had lived in the Jackson area for the past 45 years. She was a member of St. Columbs Episcopal Church in Ridgeland.
Mrs. Dear's hobbies included crocheting, working jigsaw puzzles, and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Lorraine Rena Smith Garrett; and brother Graham Garrett.
She is survived by her sons Charles Mallory Dear and wife Sharon, of Dallas, David G. Dear and wife Charlene, of Brandon, Christopher Dear and wife Charla, of Terry and Thomas A. Dear and wife Cathy, of Brandon; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Roberts, Darrell Webb, Charles Farish, Larry Foster , Rusty Ferguson and Tristan Gordan.

DALE LEE GOODWIN
FLORENCE
Dale L. Goodwin, 48, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at his home in Florence. Funeral services were Jan. 25 in the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland with burial in Glenwood Memorial Park in Richland, with full military honors. The Rev. Raymond Jeffcoat and the Rev. Mickey Ferguson officiated.
Dale was born in Forest. He was a graduate of Pearl High School and had been a resident of the Florence/Richland area since 1981.
He served 30 years in the military with the 172nd AW Georgia Welch and husband Sammy, of Mendenhall; father-in-law Ezell Wood, of Florence; brother-in-law Terry Wood and wife Marsha, of Jackson; nephew Charlie Goodwin, of Hattiesburg; and niece Krystle Goodwin, of White Oak.
Pallbearers were Curtis Coleman, John Smith, Don May, Dallas Pevey Jr., Atley Bynum and John Barnett.
Honorary pallbearers were Greg Dickens, Christol Joiner, Tim Jones and Matthew Bowman.
HARLON GUNN
PELAHATCHIE
Harlon Gunn, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at his home in Pelahatchie. Funeral services were Jan. 26 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. The Rev. Steve Mayes officiated.
Mr. Gunn was born in the Harperville Community of Scott County and had lived in Pelahatchie for the past 30 years.
He was a very active member and a deacon of the Pelahatchie Baptist Church where he was a member of the men's No. 4 Sunday school class.
Mr. Gunn also drove the church bus for VBS for many years as well as for the YAH trips and outings. His close friend Rita Faye Mashburn has stated that: "He was the right arm of the young at heart and he will be greatly missed."
Mr. Gunn was a World War II Army veteran stationed in Germany where he received a World War II Victory Medal.
He was also a retired mechanic from the Pettibone Corporation. Mr. Gunn and his wife Reba enjoyed many years of retirement traveling and making a yearly trip to the Great Smoky Mountains.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfonso Warren and Effie Johnston Gunn.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Reba Jewel Gunn, of Pelahatchie; children Andy J. Gunn and wife Rachel, of Jackson, Cheryl Coleman, of Green ville and Lynn Gunn and wife Diane, of Pelahatchie; sisters Helon Sumrall, of Pelahatchie, and Sue Lawrence and husband Carl, of Hattiesburg; grandchildren Jarette, Jamie and Jason Gunn, Miriam Noffke, Carey Lynn Reeves, Kylie Coleman, and Lindsey and Bethany Gunn; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jarette Gunn, Janice Gunn, Jason Gunn, Michael Lifer, Steve Young and George Sumrall.
Honorary pallbearers were Lennis Burnham, Clark Mashburn, Leon Tadlock, G. B. Shirley, Fred Smith, Walter Ferguson, John Walker, Ed McAlister, Robert Spears, Silas Kemp, Charles Stevenson, Ervin Westbrook and Davey Wise.
