Willie Pannell, 92
Willie May Pannell, 92, of Mesquite, Calif., Virginia Baird of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Ruth Brooks of McKenzie, Tenn.; and two brothers, Windam Jackson of McKenzie, Tenn., and Damon Jackson of Booneville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a child, Benny Dwayne Pannell; a sister, Maybell Cooper; and two brothers, Clifford and Raymond Jackson.
Pallbearers were Casey Brown, Gary Brown, David Brown, Brooke Christian, Shelly Sumberland and Sonya Zimmerman.
Travis Nix, 65
Charles Travis "Cunnie" "T-Bird" Nix, 65, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at North Mississippi Medical Center.
She was a registered nurse at St. Margaret in Hammond, Ind., St. Ann in East Chicago, Ind., Corinth Community Hospital, Magnolia Regional Medical Center, Whitfield Nursing Home and Baldwyn Hospital. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting.
Mass was at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Tom Burns officiating. Burial was in Corinth National Cemetery. McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, James R. Leatherwood of Rienzi; her mother, Stella Gonsiorowski of Griffith, Ind.; four sons, Thad Leatherwood of Nashville, Tenn., James Larry Leatherwood of Elton, Tenn., Michael Leatherwood of Ecru and Daniel Leatherwood of Tunica; a brother, Tim Gonsiorowski of Demott, Ind.; a sister, Bridget Stroh of Griffith, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thadeus Gonsiorowski.
Pallbearers were Denny Louis, Ray Ball, Chris Mills, Bill Geer, Larry Gann and Leonard Sadowski.

Earl McCallum, 88
Earl Vleet McCallum, 88, of Potts Camp, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Alliance Health Care in Holly Springs.
He was born June 28, 1915, in Hickory Flat to Shields Earl McCallum and Texas, Earlene Ray of Lake Charles, La., Cheryl Rooker of Potts Camp and Pam Sanders of Myrtle; three brothers, Lynn McCallum and Joe McCallum, both of Potts Camp, and Jack McCallum of Hickory Flat; three sisters, Alene Randolph and Dorothy Forester, both of Potts Camp, and Twilla Rutherford of Blue Mountain; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Debbie Lynn McKeown; a grandson, Jake Rocco; and a brother, Red McCallum.
Pallbearers will be Asa Adkins, Trinity Skelton, Eugene Slade, Lance McCallum, Mike Gooch, Lynn Raines, Layne Campbell and Gary McCallum.
Betty Kimbrell, 52
Betty Kathryn Kimbrell, 52, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at North Price of Texarkana, Mississippi in Oxford.
He was a native of Tallahatchie County and a tree surgeon.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the Tallahatchie-Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building in Oxford. Burial will be in the Springhill North Cemetery in Water Valley. Hodges Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Murray of Abbeville; three daughters, Tracy Wilson of Etta, and Doris Hervey and Takoma Davidson, both of Oxford; three sons, Willie Phillips and Stanley Adams, both of Oxford, and Michael Adams of Abbeville; his mother, Dorothy Adams of Bolingbrook, Ill.; three sisters, Edith Murray of West Chicago, Ill., Frances Adams of Chicago, Ill. and Paula Kaye Adams of County Hill, Ill.; two brothers, Johnny Adams of Biloxi and Richard Adams of Chicago; and 17 grandchildren.
Opie Simmons, 79
Opie Wamsley Simmons, 79, died Monday, Sept. 29 2003, at her daughter's home.
She was formerly of Gardendale, Ala. She was a homemaker and a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church. She loved her family and grandson, and enjoyed gospel music.
Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Bro. Leon Zalenski officiating. Kesler-Coggins Funeral Home of Baldwyn was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Rainwater; a grandson, Wesley Odell Simmons Hayes; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Odell Simmons; five sisters; a brother; and her parents, Ludie and Emmie Wamsley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Calif.; two sisters, Ann Barkley and Ruth Robbins, both of New Albany; three brothers, John Stephen Ford of Memphis, William Clifford Ford of Germantown, Tenn., and Dr. Ralph Doyle Ford of Ripley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Dr. Tom Barkley, Dr. Johnny Ford, John Robbins, Mike Robbins, David Ford, John E. Stubbs Jr., Jimmy Surber and Steve McCollum. Honorary pallbearers were McDonald's coffee drinkers.

Ethel Ayers, 53
Ethel Mae Janette Ayers, 53, of Holly Springs, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in Southaven.
She was a dietitian at Rust College. She was a member of Davis Temple Church of the Living God in Holly Springs, where she served on the Mothers Board and the choir.
Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Flatwood Grove Church of the Living God in Blue Mountain with Bishop H. L. Coleman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. J. F Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Earl T. "Joe" Ayers of Holly Springs; a daughter, Treavor Ayers-Harvey of Holly Springs; two sons, Marvin Tracey Davis of Ashland and Trenton Ayers of Holly Springs; three stepdaughters, Earlean Ayers Boston of West Memphis, Ark., Marilynn Ayers of Memphis and Amanda Nabors of Holly Springs; a stepson, Charles Kimbrough of Memphis; three brothers, Elder Robert Davis of Ripley and James Davis and Terry Davis, both of Holly Springs; six granddaughters; and six stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda L. Finley, and a brother, Hershel Davis.
Callie Johnson, 86
Callie Emerline Johnson, 86, of Waterford, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Alliance Healthcare in Holly Springs.
She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Potts Camp to Otis and Aileen Mills Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Holly Springs Funeral Home with Bro. Harvey Scott officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Waterford.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Johnson and Paul Johnson, both of Waterford; six daughters, Frances Westmoreland of Potts Camp, Mary Ann Day of Holly Springs, Linda Fisher of Lamar, and Evelyn Watkins, Christine Martin and Debbie Culver, all of Waterford; two brothers, George McLeroy of Bolivar, Tenn., and James McLeroy of Hickory Flat; three sisters, Willa Shaw of Olive Branch, Mary Pierce of Bartlett, Tenn., and Kathryn Shaw of Ashland; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Odell Johnson, and two grandchildren, Kenneth Westmoreland and Callie Lawson.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
