Hattie Thrasher, 59
Hattie Floyd Thrasher, 59, of Blue Springs, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at her home after a brief illness.
She was a retired employee of Lucky Star and a member of Guntown Assembly of God.
Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Guntown Assembly of God with Bro. David Lann and Bro. Bobby White officiating. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Charles Raymond Thrasher of Guntown; three daughters, Peggy Barnett of Guntown, Wanda Ham of Baldwyn and Ann Cole of Saltillo; four sisters, Clara Baswell, Dora Lee Thrasher, Susan Lewis and Ann Bonds, all of Guntown; four brothers, Tommy Floyd of Guntown, Willie Lee Floyd Jr. of Blytheville, Ark., Henry Floyd of Blue Springs and Vert Pettigo of Guntown; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Gary Thrasher, Jerry Thrasher, Kenneth Thrasher, Charlie Thrasher, Roy Baswell and Bobby Baswell.
Delsie Pearl Gresham, 68
Delsie Pearl Gresham, 68, of Hickory Flat, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2003, at her residence.
She was a homemaker and a member of Faith in Christ Church.
Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at the Faith in Christ Church Cemetery in Myrtle with Bro. Elbert Horton and Bro. William Merritt. Mortimer Funeral Home of New Albany was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, George W. Gresham of Hickory Flat; two sons, George Randle Gresham of Birmingham, Ala., and Donald Lane Gresham of Myrtle; three daughters, Judith Gail Dickerson, Cindy Olen Kirk and Linda Carol Kiddy, all of Myrtle; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Gillis of Horn lake; and one brother, Willis Wheeler of Ocean Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sarah Wheeler; one brother, John Wheeler Jr.; and two sisters, Lydia Beene and Dell King.
Lloyd Voiter, 66
Lloyd "Scookum" "Doc" Voiter, 66, of St. Louis, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Barnes Jewish Hospital South in St. Louis.
He was born June 9, 1939, in Lafayette County to the late Hollis Voiter and Annie L. Brown. He lived in New Albany before moving to St. Louis. He was a member of Clear Creek M. B. Church.
Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at Serenity Funeral Home chapel in Holly Springs with Bishop Willie G. Ball officiating. Burial was in Palestine M. B. Church Cemetery in New Albany.
Survivors include a sister, Clara M. McNary of Kansas; two brothers, Frank Wiggins of Kansas, and Leo Brown of St. Louis; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John L. Brown; four sisters, Mae Bessie Shorter, Doretha Waldrop, Lessie G. Brown and Burtha Mae.
Pallbearers were Rickey Shorter, Ricky Shorter II, James Waldrop, Willie Waldrop, Joe Waldrop and John Waldrop.
Mattie Hamilton, 92
Mattie Mae Chesteen Hamilton, 92, of Oxford, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church at Denmark. She was the widow of James Wallace Hamilton.
Services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Waller Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Cecil Henson and the Rev. Raymond Aven officiating. Burial was in Christian Rest Cemetery in Oxford.
Survivors include two daughters, Katherine Mae Bishop of Oxford and Yvonnia "Bonnie" Moore of Ecru; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Christian Rest Cemetery.
Allie B. Stacks, 84
Allie B. Stacks, 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Ripley.
She was born July 8, 1919, to the late Thomas Martin and Elmira Prather Martin. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was the widow of Monroe Stacks.
Services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at United Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Shawn Davis officiating. Burial was in Glenfield Memorial Park.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy McMillen of New Albany and Jeanne Taylor of Lincoln, Ill.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Gussie Dill and Beatrice Grisham.
Ellis Guin, 84
Ellis Guin, 84, formerly of Guin, Ala., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany.
She was born in the Mt. Willing community to the late R. E. and Alice Kennedy Trentham. She lived at Mt. Willing most of her life. She was a retired employee of Munsingwear and an active member of Mt. Willing Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed animals and flowers.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Norwood Funeral Home chapel in Guin, Ala., with Bro. Jerry Smith and Bro. Randy Wright officiating. Burial was in Mt. Willing Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Carmen Guin of Guin, Ala.; a sister, Elsie Peek of Oneonta, Ala.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, J. R. Guin.
Billy Lee Allred, 47
Billy Lee Allred, 47, of Water Valley, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003.
He was born Oct 25, 1956, in Water Valley. He was a member of North Main Methodist Church in Water Valley. He was self-employed.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home with the Rev. Derrick Simmons officiating and Harold Jaudon assisting. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
Survivors include two sons, Adam Allred of Blue Mountain and Eric Allred of Southaven; a daughter, Ali Allred of Blue Mountain; two brothers, Bobby Allred of Nesbit and Sam Allred of Batesville; three sisters, Mary McCain of Pope and Dorothy Peacock and Janice Shuffield, both of Water Valley; and two grandchildren.
Guy C. McGinnis, 85
Guy C. McGinnis, 85, of Memphis, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at his home.
He was born April 1, 1918, in New Albany. He was retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. after 43 years and was a member of Range Hills Baptist Church.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Forest Hill Funeral Home East with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery East.
Survivors include his wife, Louise McGinnis; a daughter, Jill Fletcher of Mobile, Ala.; two sons, Gary McGinnis of Memphis and Kelly McGinnis of Arab, Ala.; a stepdaughter; three stepsons; a sister, Ann Gregory; and a brother, Lee McGinnis, both of New Albany; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary Alice Parks died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Graceland Health Care Facility in New Albany.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Beasley Funeral Home.
Ulton Gaines, 65
Ulton Reeder Gaines, 65, of Pontotoc, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Pontotoc Health Services.
He was born Aug. 13, 1938, in Pontotoc County to Mitchell Ulton and Thelma Reeder Gaines. He retired from Stratford in New Albany as a quality control analyst and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Baldwin Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Keith Williams and the Rev. Tom Sheffield officiating. Burial was in Pontotoc Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Purvis Gaines of Pontotoc; a sister, Tincy Tutor of Memphis; and four nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard Wroten, 47
Richard Keith Wroten, 47, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 11, 1956, in Baldwyn to the late Vernon and Wynez Wroten. He was formerly associated with WNAU Radio Station. He was a Methodist.
Services were at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at the United Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Giles Lindley officiating. Burial was in Vista Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include an aunt, Roberta Davis of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and several cousins, Emily Wooten, Carole Klimesch, Bob Davis, Vikki Shumake and Jay Clark, all of Chattanooga, and Evelyn Butler of Booneville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Keith Wroten and Wynez West Virginia to the late Anthony and Victory Kovesky Lis. She was a retired employee of Mohasco Corp. and a member of Enterprise Baptist Church.
Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at United Funeral Service chapel with Bro. William Merritt officiating. Burial was in Enterprise Cemetery.
Survivors include two sisters, Nancy Rizer of Oro Valley, Ariz., and Helen Canterberry of St. Albans, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded death by her parents; her husband, Arthur "Art" Jobe; and seven brothers and sisters.
Thelma Tate, 87
Thelma Evelyn Tate, 87, of Holly Springs, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Trinity Missions Health and Rehab of Holly Springs.
She was born Dec. 9, 1916, in Obion, Tenn., to Sam and Lottie Haloway Barnes. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She was the widow of Bethel B. Tate.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Potts Camp Cemetery with Bro. Larry Tate officiating. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Bro. Larry Tate of Potts Camp and Jerry Tate of New Port Richey, Fla.; a sister, Velma Garrison of Homasassa, Fla.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Anthony Cothern, Jason Gurley, Johnny Keeling, Don Cothern, Steve Gurley and Red Hollbrook.
Clay Williams, 84
Clay Lydell Williams, 84, of Thaxton, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany.
He was born June 6, 1919, in Union County to Martin and Annie Robbins Williams. He married Eunice Irene Gullick on Aug. 31, 1940. He served in the Armed Forces 3rd Infantry under Gen. Patton during World War II. He earned several medals, including the Purple Heart. He was a Baptist.
Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Juston Gates and Kevin Merritt officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Union County.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice Irene Williams; two daughters, Joy Gates, and Phyllis Hooker; two sons, Jerry D. Williams and Danny C. Williams; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Aubry Williams, Marlin Williams and Elton Williams.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael D. "Mike" Williams; his parents; a sister, Ida Lou Williams; and a brother, Malchom Williams.
Pallbearers were Jeff Williams, Mark Cantrell, Rickey Hooker Jr., Chad Williams, Cru Williams and Ben Willard.
