Virginia Hollingsworth Morgan
Vardaman-Services for Virginia Hollingsworth Morgan, 82, who died Aug. 30, 2003 at her residence in Vardaman, were held 11 a.m. Sept. 1, 2003 at Midway Baptist Church in Vardaman with the Revs. Dale Easley, Windell Lancaster and Mike Ramage officiating.
Internment followed at Midway Baptist Church in Vardaman.
Ms. Morgan was born Feb. 27, 1921. She was a homemaker, member of Vardaman First Baptist Church and a member of Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Lancaster and her husband Windell of Vardaman; one son, Tommy Richard Morgan of Vardaman; three sisters, Grace Young of Houston, Myrl Armstrong of Vardaman and Lou Swaim of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Bob Hollingsworth of Vardaman and Jim Hollingsworth of Hernando; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Treetop" Morgan; a daughter, Sheila Morgan Tedder; her parents Thomas and Clara Spratlin Hollingsworth and two brothers, Milton and Ralph Hollingsworth.
Pallbearers were Greg Hollingsworth, Jimmy Carl Hollingsworth, Phil Carter, Bill Morgan, David Dewitt, Dewitt Spencer, Terry Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers were John Lancaster, Mark Etheridge, Hector Diaz, Chris Graham, Jon Waller, Randy Brooks, Calvin Dye and Dwight Hollingsworth.
Ella Green Ferguson
Bruce-Services for Ella Green Ferguson, 93, who died Aug. 25, 2003 at Bruce Nursing Center, were held 1 p.m. Aug. 2003 at Georgia, and Patsy Hall of Flora; three brothers, Jim Green and Winfred Green of Pittsboro, Henry Green of Enid; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Newton Ferguson; a sister, Anice Bryant; a brother, Jess Green ; a son, Marvis Ferguson and her parents, Henry Hood Green and Sara Ethie Murphree Green .
Pallbearers were Joe Ferguson, Brian Hall, Michael Brown Jeff Bryant and Robbie Spratlin.
McKenzy Stokes
VARDAMAN - Services for MacKenzy Stokes, 13, who died Aug. 25, 2003, were held 2 p.m. Aug. 31, 2003, at the Houlka Gym with the Rev. Jo Lee Jones officiating.
Interment was held in Cane Creek Cemetery in Vardaman. Belle Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He enjoyed baseball, basketball, fishing and video games.
Survivors include his mothers, Jo Ann McIntosh and Christina Stokes; three sisters, Akeshia Stokes, Aquyata Stokes, LaPrecious McIntosh; and one brother, DeKenton Stokes.
Reginald Parker
BRUCE - Services for Reginald Parker, 81, who died Aug. 28, 2003, were held 2 p.m. Aug. 30, 2003, at Parker was a retired truck driver for Kellwood Company and an Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of Bruce First Baptist Church.
Survivors include, his wife, Helen Casey Parker and his wife, Robin, both of Bruce; one brother, Daniel Parker and Micah Elizah Parker and Caroline Parker.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Annie Ree Spencer and one brother, Hosea Parker.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Dale Parker, Zackery Ryan Parker, Micah Elizah Parker, Adam King, Jim King, Chris Riley and Keith Spencer.
Alvina Frieda Crome
Burlington, Illinois, with the Rev. Howard J. Gleason officiating. Internment followed at Burial Union Cemetery in Burlington. Wisconsin. She was a homemaker, retired cook at Sycamore Hospital in Burlington and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Kellum and her husband Keith of Pittsboro and Karen Kramer of Eljin, Iowa; a brother, Raymond Newberry of Waterford, Texas, Ethel Spraggins of Minnesota, Dennis Butler of Rock Island, Ill.; his stepmother, Margaret Hamilton, Flint, Mich.; and one sister-in-law, Katie Brownlee of Woodland; two brothers-in-law, Joe Lee Dean and his wife, Velsie, both of West Point, Jesse Dean and his wife, Beverly, both of Mississippi and taught in Texas.
Survivors include two brothers, Edwin Hugh "Red" Sanderson and his wife, Irene, both of Houston, James Thad Sanderson and his wife, Melba, both of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius Glover and Laudie Sanders Sanderson; one sister, Marolyn S. Baird; and one brother, Rayburn Sanderson.
Pallbearers were Bobby Sanderson, Jimmy Sanderson, David Sandidge, Marat Yanavitsky, Frank Alford and Harold West.
James L. Boland
Calhoun City - Services for James L. "Jim" Boland, 69, who died June 23, 2004 were held June 26, 2004 at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City with Rev. Jim Vance and Rev. Raymond Grabert officiating. Interment was in Vance Cemetery in Slate Springs with Rev. Dan Wright officiating at the graveside.
Mr. Boland was born, August, 28, 1934 in Calhoun County to Emmitt and Mary Lester Boland. He was retired from Heatcraft after 33 years of service. He was a member of Lewis Memorial Methodist Church and attended Bethay Baptist Church in Slate Springs. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a great friend to all who knew him.
Surivors include his wife, Irma West Boland, of Calhoun City; one daughter, Jennifer Ayers and husband, Greg, of Brandon; one son, Jon Mark Boland and wife, Stephanie, of Maben; two sisters, Ann Love of Houston and Sue Upshaw of Calhoun City; one brother, Emmitt Boland of Lexington, KY; three grandchildren, Cody West Boland, Krystle Boland and Nicole Grace Ayers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jimmy Boland; two sisters, Letha Odom and Frances Gregg; one brother, Robert Boland; one grand-daughter, Emily Grace Boland.
Pallbearers were David Doolittle, Robert Doolittle, Billy Frank Funderburg, Robert Norman, Laderle Doler and Randy Hubbard.
Honorary pallbearers were T. J. Helms, Carl Oglesby, Charles Lovorn, Winfred Patterso, Richard Ayers and Delaine McMullen.
Delma Earl Morgan
Services for Mr. Delma Earl "Dake" Morgan, 61, who died June 25, 2004, were held June 27, 2004 at Vine Life Fellowship Church in Green wood with Rev. Dennis McKay officiating. Interment was in Oddfellows Cemetery in Green wood. Williams and Lord Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Morgan was born in Attala County and resided most of his life in Green wood. He was a member of the Vine Life Fellowship in Green wood. He was a heavy euipment operator for Ferguson Brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Huskey Morgan of Green wood; three sons, Jimmy Morgan of Oxford, Rodney Morgan of Calhoun City and David Huskey of Lakewood, CA; five daughters, Pamela Knight of Calhoun City, Weesie Johnson of Pontotoc, Brenda Corley of Carrollton, Deborah Deerman of Moorhead and Marie Hughes of Calhoun City; three brothers, Billy Morgan of Tupelo, Lloyd Morgan of Sidon and Jimmy Morgan of Green wood; two sisters, Shirley Williams of Sidon and Vicky Johnson of Carrollton; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Delmar and Artie Cook Morgan.
Pallbearers were Kelly Morgan, Scott Taylor, Gary Johnson, Gil Johnson, Tim Corley and Ricky Deerman.
Christine S. Jackson
WEST POINT - Services for Christine S. Jackson, 86, who died June 25, 2004, were held 2 p.m. June 29, 2004, at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Partin officiating.
Interment was held in Memorial Garden Cemetery.
Ms. Jackson was a homemaker and teacher's aide. She was a Methodist.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra J. McGee of River Ridge, La., Rachell J. Nacozy of Austin, Calif., Ken D. Jackson of Fairfax, Texas, Anne Giberson of New York City, N.Y., Veronica Birdsong of Bayville, N.J., Christopher, Michael and David Marranto all of Baton Rouge, La.; her step-mother, Maggie B. Tornwall of Tampa, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, among them Jennifer T. Mooneyham of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Levert Kimball; one son Garner Russell Kimball; one grandson, Donald Birdsong III; one great-grandson, Max Kimball; and three brothers, Elkin Tornwall, Patrick Tornwall and Hugh Tornwall.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Howard Lee O'Barr
OKOLONA - Services for Howard Lee O'Barr, 68, who died June 23, 2004, were held 10 a.m. June 26, 2004, at Okolona Funeral Home Chapel with Clinton Worthy and Jimmy Bryan officiating.
Interment was held in East Chickasaw Memorial Gardens. Lee Memorial/Okolona Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. O'Barr was a member of Carnation Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, gardening and going to auctions.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jacqueline Capwell O'Barr of Okolona; his mother, Kate O'Barr of Okolona; two sons, Danny Owen of Okolona, Nickey Owen and his wife, Charlotte, both of Baldwyn; three sisters, Mary Ann Irby of Troy, Opal Henry of Okolona, Faye Packett of Marion, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Stephanie McCreight, Jason Owen, Channing Owen, Ellie Word, Jonathan Owen, Jennifer Owen and Rachel Owen; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie O'Barr; his sister, Bonnie Kay O'Barr; and three brothers, J.T. O'Barr, Junior O'Barr, Sonny O'Barr.
Pallbearers were Jason Owen, Channing Owen, Ken Henry, Greg Vaughn, Donald Davis and Wayne Kilgore. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Sandy Land Hunting Club, Gene Vaughn, Eddie Roberts, Ray Turner, Donald Jacobs, Richard Irby and Henry Doss.
