Ricky Lynn Brassfield
WALTHAL - Services for Ricky Lynn Brassfield, 43, who died Oct. 3, 2003, were held 2 p.m. Oct. 5, 2003, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Parker Memorial Funeral Home with the Revs. Dale Easley and Mike Ramage officiating.
Interment was held in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. Blue was a retired lumberman and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served as a medic with the rank of T-5.
Survivors include one brother, Bill Blue of Vardaman; one sister, Frances Cox of Vardaman; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Damon Nelson, Bobby Hannaford, Clay Spencer, Les Huffman, Calvin Dye and Phil Carter.
Maxine Langley Hollingsworth
HOUSTON - Services for Maxine Langley Hollingsworth, 76, who died Oct. 1, 2003, were held 1 p.m. Oct. 2, 2003, at First United Methodist Church with Mike Childs officiating.
Interment was held in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Souther Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Hollingsworth was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy East and her husband, George, of Columbus; one grandson, John David East of Columbus; two brothers, Avery Langley of Houston and John L. Langley of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ralph David Hollingsworth; her parents, William and Sally Langley; two sisters, Ann Fox and Jennie Dee Blissard; and four brothers, Ausie Langley, George "Bud" Langley, Clifton Langley, Cecil Langley.
Pallbearers were Curtis Langley, Wayne Baird, Bobby V. Langley, Jeremy Brooks, James R. Fox, Jim Blissard, Mike Langley and Bob Hollingsworth.
James Curtis Dunn
HATTIESBURG - Services for James Curits Dunn, 56, were held 1: 30 p.m. Sept. 8, 2003.
Interment was held in Brooklyn Cemetery.
Mr. Dunn of Hattiesburg; four sons, J.C. Dunn all of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Denise Kelley of Anniston, Ala., and Annie Strevel of Tupelo; his stepparents, Willie C. McCsrdle of Brooklyn and Rachel Dunn of Hattiesburg, Terry Dunn and Christopher Strevel.
Jack Gregory, Sr.
OKOLONA - Graveside services for Earl Jackson "Jack" Gregory Sr., 88, who died Nov. 5, 2003, were held 10:30 a.m. Nov. 7,2003, at Oddfellows Cemetery in Okolona with the Rev. Jennifer Johnson officiating.
Lee Memorial/Okolona Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gregory was a cattleman, farmer and landowner. He worked at the Gulf Ordinance Plant in Prairie during World War II. He played football at the University of Mississippi and Mississippi Department of Agriculture as a legendary cattleman from Chickasaw County. He was a member of the Okolona Presbyterian Church. He was a man of few but profound words and gave everyone in Okolona a nickname. He was known by many as "Big Bubba."
Survivors include his wife, Earline McComb Gregory of Okolona; two sons, Jack Gregory Jr. and his wife, Susan, and John Andrew Gregory and his wife, Claire, all of Okolona; three grandchildren, E.J. Gregory III, Julie Bradley Gregory and John Wesley Gregory all of Okolona; and one sister, Christine G. White of West Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elliott Gregory.
Pallbearers were Willie Franklin, Carnell Johnson, Willie C. Smith, Felix Randle, William Randle, Leon Randle, Allison Jenkins Jr., Leroy Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Epting officiating.
Interment was held in Antioch Cemetery.
Mr. Helllums was a retired merchant who owned the Sears Catalog and Retail Store in Bruce. He was a member of Banner Baptist Church and a deacon. He served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Turner Hellums of Bruce; two daughters, Vickie Yarbrough and her husband, Phil, both of Bruce, Daren Platt and her husband, Sam, both of St. Charles, Mo.; one son, Scott Hellums and his wife, Tammy, both of Bruce; three brothers, Dwight Hellums of Randolph, James Hellums of Oxford, Jake Hellums of Bruce; four sisters, Gertha Hornsby of De Queen, Ark., Vera Angle of Bruce, Daisy Harris of Oxford, Winnie Sykes of Senatobia; six granddaughters, Lauren Tutor, Leslie Harris, Alayna Yarbrough, Katie Hellums, Molie Hellums, Ana Platt; and one great-granddaughter, Camryn Harris.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clayton Hellums.
Pallbearers were Dock Watson, Edmond Hellums, Larry Hellums, Carl Baker, Bud Castleberry, Sammy Harris and Malon Henry.
Ella Mae Williams Dendy
WOODLAND - Services for Ella Mae Williams Dendy, 88, who died Dec. 9, 2003, were held 1:30 p.m. Dec. 12, 2003, at memorial funeral Home Chapel with Danny Bryant and Mike Childs officiating.
Ms. Dendy was a farmer and homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting for the public.
Survivors include three sons, William Daniel Dendy and his wife, Virginia, both of Gredericksburg, Va., Bennie Davis Dendy and his wife, Jeanette, both of Fort Worth, Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Christian Hall, Darrell Logan and Ben Freelon officiating.
Interment was held in Memory Memorial Garden.
Mr. Norwood was a member of Baptist Temple in McAllen, Texas, Amy Webb and her husband, Roger Jr., both of Bruce; special daughter-in-law, Taffie Harris and her husband, Wesley, both of Derma; his mother, Sallie Norwood of Bruce; one brother, Don Norwood of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Carol Ainsworth of Hagerman, Idaho, Jeanie Kelly of Memphis; eight grandchildren, Jodee, Ana, Dillan, Kelsey, Kayla, Shannon, Bennett and Kaid.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Norwood and his son, Kell Norwood.
Pallbearers were David Lee Jr., Brandon Lee, Stacy Hawks, Jeff Cannon, Ricky Baker, Satch Logan, Gary Shoemake and Walter Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Kutait and Ben Freelon.
