Venita Buchanan Alexander
HOUSTON - A memorial service for Venita Buchanan Alexander, 76, who died Dec. 12, 2003, were held 10 a.m. Dec. 17, 2003, at Houlka First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Blackwell officiating.
Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Houston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Alexander was a retired real estate agent.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeannie Verell of Houston, Becky Worbington of Pontotoc; three sons, Jimmy Simmons of Houlka, Roger Thornton of Tupelo, Buck Thornton of Pontotoc; two sisters, Nell Hood of Houston, Blanche Cambell of Memphis; nine grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Polly Thomas.
Willie Mae Reedy
CALHOUN CITY - Services for Willie Mae Reedy, 84, who died Dec. 9, 2003, were held 2 p.m. Dec. 13, 2003, at Pryor Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Vance officiating.
Interment followed in New Providence Cemetery.
Ms. Reedy was a homemaker. She was a World War II defense worker in Cordova, Tenn. She was also a waitress at the Katz Prurtore and an elevator operator in the Sterick Building, both located in Memphis.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar Wayne Reedy of Memphis; two daughters, Dixie Cooper and her husband, Jim, both of Olive Branch, Linda Hall and her husband, Phil, both of Memphis; two granddaughters, Angela Cooper of Olive Branch, Lisa Richardson of Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Denton Pryor.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Cooper, Phil Hall, Kenneth Pryor, Patrick Richardson and Stacy Smith.
Mae Allen Simpson
DERMA - Services for Mae Allen Simpson, 81, who died Dec. 10, 2003, were held 10:30 a.m. Dec. 13, 2003, at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Bill Baker and Jim Vance officiating.
Interment was held in Oak Springs Cemetery.
Ms. Simpson was retired from Kellwood Corporation and Boland's Department Store. She was also a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Rose Roberson of Dyer, Tenn., Jane Strickland of Asheboro, Parker Allen.
David Lee Vance
COFFEEVILLE - Services for David Lee Vance, 55, who died Dec. 11, 2003, were held 2 p.m. Dec. 14, 2003, at Southern Funeral Chapel with Jonathan Childress officiating.
Interment was held in Poplar Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Vance was a construction worker and a native of Chickasaw County.
Survivors include his mother, Addie "Bonnie" Vance of Houston; two daughters, Angela Eastman of Houston and Dawn Vance of Jackson; two sons, Jimmy Vance of Houston and Chris Vance of Starkville; and four sisters, Bobbie Jean Hill of Coffeeville, Rebecca "Teena" Moore, Sue Holder, Faye Doss all of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Lee Vance.
Pallbearers were Bobby Brower, Bill Hughes, Jim Clay, Steve Shaw, John Fisk and Homer Melton.
Edgar Clayton Caulder
COFFEEVILLE - Services for Edgar Clayton Caulder, 83, who died Dec. 14, 2003, were held 2 p.m. Dec. 16, 2003, at Dividing Ridge Baptist Church in Coffeeville.
Interment was held in Dividing Ridge Cemetery. Latham Funeral Home in Water Valley was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Caulder was a service station operator.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Mae Caulder; his daughters, Judy Spears of Coffeeville, Patricia McElhaney of Bruce; five sons, James L. Caulder of Coffeeville, Charles E. Caulder of Pontotoc, Jerry L. Caulder of Grenada, Larry Caulder of Elliot, Stanley Caulder of Coffeeville; one sister, Essie Mae Hardin of Houlka; on brother, Howard Caulder of Bruce; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Audrey Shelton Corder
CARROLL COUNTY - Services for Audrey Shelton Corder, 76, who died Dec. 13, 2003, were held 2 p.m. at National Funeral Home Chapel with Shelton Easley, Harvey Springer and Clarence Cooper officiating.
Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery.
Ms. Corder was a member of Elliott Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Charlotte Easley of Covington, Ga., Rachel Carter Thomas, 55, who died April 10, 2004, were held 10 a.m. April 15, 2004, at Assumption Catholic Church, Missouri St. Louis. She was also working on her Ph.D. in Health Care Policy at the University of New York, Texas, Anne Giberson of New York City, N.Y., Veronica Birdsong of Bayville, N.J., Christopher, Michael and David Marranto all of Baton Rouge, La.; her step-mother, Maggie B. Tornwall of Tampa, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, among them Jennifer T. Mooneyham of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Levert Kimball; one son Garner Russell Kimball; one grandson, Donald Birdsong III; one great-grandson, Max Kimball; and three brothers, Elkin Tornwall, Patrick Tornwall and Hugh Tornwall.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
