Donald Runsvold, 80
Donald Runsvold, 80, died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at the Brendan House in Kalispell. He was born April 22, 1919, in Kalispell. His parents were Albert and Alophina Nelson Runsvold. He married Helen Seilstad at Lewistown, May 15, 1948. He was raised in the home place near Ashley Creek. He graduated from Flathead High School. As a young man he worked at Sykes Grocery Store. He served in the United States Army with the 331st Bomb Group VH as a airplane maintenance technician. During World War II he served in the Philippines. After his marriage to Helen Seilstad, they moved to and farmed in Denton. They later moved to Hungry Horse, where he was employed with the Bureau of Reclamation. He later owned and operated Don's Kalispell Rentals for years. He enjoyed his summers at the Ashley Lake cabin. After he retired he spent the winters in Maricopa, Ariz. He was a member of the Kalispell Lions Club and the Calvary Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Clara Howell; and brothers, Henry and Norman Runsvold. He is survived by two sisters, Alma Parkinson of Libby, and Evelyn Sullivan of Kalispell; nieces, Dolores Young, Rosalie Wright, and JoAnn Sullivan; nephews, Dick Parkinson, Channing Sullivan, Albert and Dick Runsvold; great-nephews, Dan and Lonnie Wright; numerous other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Tuesday, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Bob Nilsen will be officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lewistown. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Calvary Lutheran Church or the Brendan House in his name, instead of sending floral arrangements. The cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
Preston Hunter Kimbrough, 70, of Columbia Falls passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at his home in Columbia Falls. He was the son of Robert and Thursa Hunter Kimbrough, born on Dec. 15, 1929, in Cushing, Okla. He attended schools in Wyoming and Calif. She was living with her daughter and son-in-law. She fought hard to the very end and will forever remain in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her father, sister and one brother. She is survived by her mother, Mary Amis, of Thornton, Calif., and Michael Castonquay of Kalispell; grandchildren, Crista Burke and her husband, Clint, Monica Balla and her husband, Steve, and Carrisa Castonquay; nephew Brian Johnston and Stacie; and great-grandchildren, Brenton Burke, Nichole Burke, and Abigail Balla; all of whom dearly loved her. Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Eleanor Merrick, 82
Eleanor Merrick, 82, of Missoula, died in Community Hospital on Monday, May 31. She was born in Anaconda on Jan. 9, 1917, to Ray and Charlotte Reardon. She was raised in a family of eight children, including one brother and seven sisters. She graduated from schools in Anaconda, and attended secretarial classes at the Butte Business College. She worked as a secretary at the Anaconda Smelter for six years and as a secretary in a Butte law firm. On Dec. 1, 1943, she married Nick Merrick in Butte. She raised four children. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and crocheting. She was a very special, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, National Catholic Women's Association, Ladies Elks and Uct. She was very active in her church at St. Ann's and volunteered at the Crest Nursing Home for 20 years. She lived in Butte until May of 1997 when she moved to Missoula, to be closer to her daughter. She was one of the first residents in the Grizzly Peak Retirement Center in Missoula, where she lived for the past two years. She will be remembered for her kindness and love to her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick, in 1990; sister, Marie Reardon; and grandchildren, Nicolas and Matthew Merrick. She is survived by her son, Fred Merrick of Kalispell, son and daughter-in-law Joe and Lorrie Merrick of East Helena; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Pat Mellen of Missoula, and Marian and Mike Hamry of Ogden, Utah; sisters, Flo Olson of Butte, Gert Flynn and Rita Solan of Anaconda, and Charlotte Stensvold of San Francisco; sister and brother-in-law, Jerry and William Jenkins of Great Falls; brother and sister-in-law, James and Mary Reardon of Napa, Colo. She was born Oct. 15, 1908. She received her associate degree from Eastern Rocky Mountain in Billings. She married on Jan. 12, 1945. She was the most special, caring stay-at-home mom. She is survived by her husband, Ray Jehlik; daughter, Malesa Prudhomme and her husband, David; her son, Thomas Jehlik; her two grandchildren, Marisa and Christopher Prudhomme, and Steven Honeycutt, Marisa's fiance; and many extended family members. Services were held held in Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Memorial Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for the sick babies that Ruth always loved, 1400 E. Boulder, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. Internment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Billings.
Margaret Marie Javorsky, 79
Margaret Marie Javorsky, 79, died on May 29, 1999, at Heritage Place in Kalispell. She was born May 25, 1920, in Ironwood, Mich., to George and Anna Pavlinsky Vargovich. She received her early education in Michigan, where she met John R. Javorsky. They were married on Jan. 23, 1946, in Bessemer, Mich. They moved to the Flathead Valley 53 years ago, and made it their home since that time. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1979. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Newman of Spokane, and Jean Shields of Kalispell; one son, Robert Javorsky of Libby; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held today. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
