Oliver Bud Calvin, 88
Oliver Bud Calvin, 88, passed away in Bakersfield, Calif., Judy Pennington and her husband, Bruce, Jane Iverson and her husband, Jack, all of Columbia Falls, Joy DeReu and her husband, John, of Kalispell; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; six sisters; one brother and numerous nieces and nephews. His love of life and laughter will leave many beautiful memories in the hearts of all his family and friends. Graveside memorial services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls. Military honor guard will be provided by the V.F.W. of the Kalispell area. Columbia Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.
Jean L. Fonger, 77, of Columbia Falls, died Aug. 26, 2000, at the North Valley Hospital in Whitefish.
She was born Aug. Jean L. Fonger, 77, of Columbia Falls, died Aug. 26, 2000, at the North Valley Hospital in Whitefish. She was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Genevieve, Mont. The daughter of Clair and Laura L. Harden Duncan, she was raised on the family ranch. She attended Hinsdale High and was captain of her basketball team, graduating in 1941. She served her country in World War II when she worked in Seattle at Boeing in the role of "Rosie the Riveter" during the mid-40s. On Jan. 24, 1946, she married Dallas L. Fonger in Glasgow. They moved to the Flathead area in 1962, where they owned and operated the Deerlick Cafe in Martin City for the next 10 years. They were married for 31 years until his death in 1977. She was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas, and by her father and mother, Clair and Laura Duncan. She is survived by daughters, Lorelie Schreckendgust and husband, Chuck, of Superior, Jordice Dudley and husband, Ray, of Kalispell, Durinda Steinmetz and husband, Cliff, and Cindy Hagen and husband, Mark, all of Columbia Falls; six sisters; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She will be best remembered for her loving, caring nature and her devotion to her family and friends. Graveside committal services will be conducted on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Woodlawn Cemetery of Columbia Falls with the Rev. David Jones presiding. Columbia Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.
John E. "Jack" Cusick, 61,
John E. "Jack" Cusick, 61, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 27, 2000, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. He was born July 16, 1939, in Shelby, to Edwin and Edith New York, and later Boston while keeping his family home in Kalispell, romping back and forth. In 1990, he began working for the Bonneville Power Company of Kalispell where he worked until his death. He had strong family values and was a member of St. Matthew's parish all of his life. He touched everyone he met. He was a friend to many and loved by all. His family and friends will miss his smile, his laugh, and his jokes. He was a man like no other and will remain in many hearts. "We love you Papa." He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Edith Cusick, and one sister, Jean Graham. He is survived by his wife, Linda Cusick of Kalispell; one son, Frank Cusick and wife, Jane, of Fountain Valley, Iowa. She is survived by her dear friend of 13 years, Lowell Knopfle; her daughters, Kathleen, and husband, Karl Sorenson, of Columbia Falls, and Robin Shuldheisz of Missoula; her sons, Ed Nelson and wife, Sandy, of Spokane, Mark Nelson and wife, Paula, of Missoula; eight grandchildren, Mathew Nelson, Ranette Sorenson, Marc McKee, Levi Sanders, Jessica Sorenson, Jennifer Nelson, Amber Shuldheisz, and Kerrie Harvey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil Nelson, and her son, Jeff Nelson. She had many outdoor interests which included skiing, golfing and running. She especially loved family and friends gathering for the annual Easter egg hunt and the infamous Christmas brunch. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and volunteered at the Whitefish Senior Center. She will be missed by her family and many friends, "she will be in our hearts forever."
