She was raised on the family homestead near Williston, ND. She attended schools in Alamo, Williston, and Minot, then graduated from Alamo High School. She graduated from Minot as a teacher and later taught in country school houses.
On June 1, 1942 Mabel married Harold Anderson in St. Paul, Minnesota.
They lived in Forsyth, MT where they owned and operated the Gambles store there for 13 years. They also lived in Sunburst, Opheim for nine years, then Grand Forks, ND and St. Paul, Minnesota before moving to Glasgow in 1973 when they bought the Gambles Store which is still in the family, now owned and operated by their son Don.
Mabel and Harold worked in the store together. Harold passed away in 1997. She was a great homemaker, enjoyed knitting, and was very devoted to God and her family.

Tom Pugh

Thomas W. (Tom) Pugh III, after a long brave battle with illness, died of pulmonary fibrosis April l, 2005 in Boise, Idaho. Surrounded by family and friends, he went peacefully into the arms of his Lord to join his Mom and Dad.
Tom was born October 28, l952, at Madigan Army Hospital, Ft. Lewis, Washington, the son of Thomas W. (Pat) Jr. and Rachel J. Pugh. They traveled most of Tom's young life until retiring in Glasgow, Montana, where he graduated from high school in l970. Tom worked in construction in Billings, Montana and Walterville, Oregon. He was the owner-operator of Shady TP Dry Wall in Glasgow and Missoula, Montana. He moved to Boise, Idaho two and a half years ago for medical reasons and the last ten months he has lived with and was loved by Tom and Elaine Tafoya and their family.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Father and Grandparents. He is survived by his two sons, Jerry Pugh of Boise, Idaho, and Dustin Pugh of Billings, Montana and their mother Wendy Pugh of Glasgow. He is also survived by his precious grand-daughter, Dustin's daughter Breeanne of Plains, Montana; two sisters Valerie Pugh of Helena, Montana, and Terry and her husband Emitt Northup of Glasgow, Montana; a niece Holly Northup and her husband Ben Pierce and their children Hayden and Samuel; two nephews, Adam Northup and his wife Deaun and their sons Ethan and Aaron, and Casey Northup and his wife Daisy and their sons Ryan and Andrew all of Boise, Idaho. Tom has an aunt, Eva Stohl of Glasgow, numerous cousins in Montana, Washington and Oregon and Aunts, Uncles and Cousins in Pensacola, Florida.
Tom adored all of his family, especially enjoyed time spent with the "kids" at family gatherings - dinners, movies, painting ceramics, playing games, and any outdoor activities. He was active in Boy Scouts, earning the God and Country Award, AA, and coached All-Star Little League Baseball. He loved his Norton Motorcycle, fishing, and longed to see the Oregon coast again.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at 4:00 PM at Kathryn Albertson Park in Boise, Idaho (weather permitting), with a reception following.
There will be a service at the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow, Montana, at a later date.

Gene attended school at the Patton Hill School south of Wolf Point and Wolf Point High School. He has lived in Glasgow since 1955. He worked for several years for Elmer Johnson Plumbing and he worked with his brother Pete McNabb in the trucking business. They ran two semi trucks hauling hay and cattle.
He married Ida Johnston in 1955 and later married Margie McCracken in 1965. The were later divorced.
Gene enjoyed dancing, the rest of the time he was always working.

PARENTS: Conrad and Lydia (Beiber) Gabel Irene was raised in Savage and graduated from Savage High School as Valedictorian. On August 8, 1954 Irene married Robert Stordahl in Sidney, Montana. They lived in Billings and Glendive, moved to Glasgow from 1976 to 1985, then resided in Miles City for 10 years, and in 1995 retired in Fort Peck, Montana.
Irene worked as a secretary for much of her life, retiring in 1991.
She made greeting cards for the senior group at Fort Peck and enjoyed flower gardening, feeding birds, especially humming birds, and loved her granddaughters and grandsons.

Martha Olivia Squires

MALTA/SACO-Martha Olivia (Scheffelmaer) Squires, 88 years, a retired cook, passed away March 23, 2005, at the Phillips County Hospital of natural causes.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the Saco Methodist Church with Burial in the Grandview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Saco Methodist Church in Saco or the Little White Church in Malta. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include daughters Duree Hopper of Glasgow, Doreene (Dick) Dale of Malta, a brother Otto (Lela) Scheffelmaer of Dodson and a sister Thelma (Vern) Saunders of Missoula, grandchildren Carla (Rick) Nelson & Suzi (Audie) Simpson of Saco, Angela (Jim) Toldness & Les (Kim) Squires of Havre, 10 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
Martha was born on October 21, 1916 at Valley Town north of Saco, Montana to Godfred and Wilhelmina (Albrecht) Scheffelmaer. She married George Squires in 1940 at Poplar. She was a cook restaurants & ranches for many years. Martha enjoyed baking, reading, and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, sons Roy in 1999 & Gary in 2004, daughter-in-law Eva (Boots) in 1999, granddaughter Kim in 1983, grandson Fred in 1996, sister Amanda in 1999, brothers Bill in 1976, Ray in 1978, Leo in 1995, Gilbert in 2000, & Wes in 1999.
Linda Concordia (Zeller) Kuebler Skinner

Linda Concordia (Zeller) Kuebler Skinner, 95, passed away Sunday, Oct. 10th, 2004 in Billings MT.
She was born on Nov. 26 the, 1908 in Carson, ND to Ludwig and Katherina Zeller. She grew up in Heil, ND and received her education in Carson. Linda worked in her father’s meat market at a very young age and managed an IGA store in Mott, ND at the age of 18.
Linda met her first husband Emil (Butch) Kuebler when she was 6 years old. The family farms bordered each other. On May 5th, 1929 they were married and to this union 4 children were born, Marvin, Harvey Ronald, Marlene and Dick. They came to the Ft. Peck area in the early dam construction days and lived there until Emil’s death, from a plane crash, in 1950. She later married Merle Skinner on Aug 24th, 1954.
Merle and Linda first lived in Malta, then north of Ft. Peck on her farm, then in Glasgow, MT, and then in Colfax, WA where she managed a motel, and later moved to Spokane, WA. where Merle died in 1980. She moved to Billings, with her daughter Marlene, in 2002.
Linda was a active person. She loved her garden and fruit trees, canning everything. Fishing was another great love, as was playing Rummy Cube and watching her favorite baseball team, the Seattle Mariners.
Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Katherina and “Louie”, all her sisters and brothers, Mary (Bleick) Albert, Theodore, Clara (Stradtmann) William, Ella (Creighton) Anna (Clayton) Joe, Charlie, Helena (Grosz), Ernest and son-in-law, Dr. Charles Sternhagen and her infant son, Harvey Ronald.
Survivors include her son Marvin and his wife Kathy of Rancho Palos Verde, CA., a daughter Marlene of Billings, MT. and her son Dick and wife Karen, of Nashua MT. She had 18 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and 1 great great grand child.
Linda lived by her favorite saying, “Never give up”.
Her remains were cremated.
A Memorial service will be held at The First Lutheran Church on April 4, 2005 at 10 am. Internment will be at the Glasgow Highland cemetery.
