PARENTS: Tony and Ethyl Bosh.
He attended schools in Williston, ND and joined the Navy in 1943. Following time in the service he went to work for the Great Northern Railroad and retired as an engineer for the Burlington Northern in 1985.
Dale was married to Wilma Boreson on September 4, 1955. They lived in Glasgow and after his retirement they spent many winters in Lake Havasu, Arizona until his health started failing. He loved his cabin at Fort Peck Lake and spent many hours taking care of his bees that provided much honey for his relatives and friends. He also enjoyed golf, and belonged to the Amernican Legion and Moose Lodge in Williston.
They had one son, Tom, who is married to Rawna and they live in the Seattle area with the three grandchildren, Rachel, Rose, and Tim.
Dale developed alzheimers in the later years and has been in the wonderful care of the Valley View Home since November 18, 2003. He will be deeply missed by all of us.
In addition to his wife Wilma, Tom, Rawna, Rachel, Ross, and Tim, he is survived by two sisters, Beverly Schmidt and Barbara Chambers, both of Coronado, California, nieces Kristin and Ce Ce, an nephews Peter and Justin.

Rosella McConnell Murdock, Xoda Gi Ya Wiya, (Gray Flying Woman) went in peace into the arms of the Lord and her relatives on Tuesday, March 1st at the Deaconess Hospital in Billings after a long and brave battle with an illness surrounded by her family.
Rosella was born on February 9, 1932, the fifth child, to Fannie (Shoots the Door) and James McConnell Sr. in their family home in Frazer.
Rosella attended Frazer Schools later meeting and marrying Bert Murdock and started a family. She was employed at the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point, then for the Fort Peck CETA programs, and finally worked as a cook at Frazer Schools in 1977, retiring in 1994.
Rosella enjoyed baking crocheting, doing word puzzles, playing Keno an bingo, attending Bearcub basketball games, traditional celebrations, and watching her favorite
TV programs. Rosella was a devoted Catholic and was very active and attended church regularly. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren dance at celebrations and cherished visits from her great grandchildren. Rosella enjoyed cooking for her family and loved ones and touched the lives of all who surrounded her.
Rosella was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Murdock Sr. and son Albert G. Murdock Jr., her mother and father, two sisters, and three brothers. She is survived by sons Dougal and Kurt Murdock of Frazer, Huber Wright of Oswego, daughters Debra Murdock and Barbara (Richard) Vondall of Frazer, special friend Janice Murdock of Fort Peck, grandsons Jason (Lisa) Murdock of Wolf Point, Aaron Murdock of Frazer, great grandson Nathan Murdock, great granddaughters Alexis Rose and Alyssa Jo Murdock of Wolf Point, one adopted son David Adams of Brockton, and one special granddaughter Vangie Dale Beston USN of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, brothers Joseph McConnell of Frazer, Richard (Teddie) McConnell of Billings, sisters Ruth Todd and Florence Buck of Frazer, an uncle Virgil McConnell of Hays, MT, numerous aunties and cousins, nieces and nephews and grandchildren from the Fort Peck and Fort Belknap Indian reservations.

Clifton George Bruce, long-term resident of Glasgow, died at Valley View Home on Feb. 28, 2005, at the age of 94. He was born in Glasgow on Nov. 12, 1910, and he lived his entire life in the Glasgow area.
Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery with services set for 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 3 at the Glasgow United Methodist Church. Rev. Dave Hodsdon will officiate.
His father, George M. Bruce and mother Maggie May (Woods) Bruce came to Glasgow in 1907 from North Dakota and settled on the North Bench as one of the area’s first homesteaders. The family lived in the Galpin Community for a short time, moved to Glasgow where they operated the Northside Grocery on First Avenue. After Cliff’s mother died in 1920 at the age of 30, his father married Addie Mabel Adams who was a wonderful mother to the family until her death in 1981.
Clifton worked for and was a partner in Markle’s from 1934 to 1973 when he retired. He was a working manager at Markle’s Texaco Station and Bulk Fuel Plant. He was known as a very kind, genial, and generous man who worked hard to provide excellent service to his customers and loyalty to the company. A sincere and quiet man, he was a member of the Glasgow Elk’s Lodge and he was very generous to his community, as well as many needy organizations.
Clifton was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert Lawrence Bruce, who died in infancy, Raymond Bruce of Dallas, Texas, Glen Bruce of Portland, Ore., Edwin Bruce of Minidoka, Idaho; one sister, Margarette F. Watson of Salinas, Calif.; and nephew Tim Bruce who is buried in Burley, Idaho.
Clifton is survived by several cousins in the Glasgow area including O.E. Markle, Robert Markle, and C.D. Markle of Glasgow. They and their families provided him with much support over the years. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces: Bob Bruce of Glen Ivy, Calif., George Watson of Cupertino, Calif., Orval Glen Watson of Carlsbad, Calif., Gordon Watson of San Jose, Calif., Donna Bruce of St. Petersburg, Fla., Tammy King, of Appleton, Wis., Michael Bruce of Burley, Idaho; Michelle Miller of Jamestown, N.D., Kim Bruce of Minidoka, Idaho, John Bruce of Roy, Utah, and Lou Bruce of Pearland, Texas.
Clifton enjoyed fishing and traveling during his working and retirement years. Glasgow has lost a kind, honest, and tolerant man. He was a member of the Glasgow Elk’s Lodge. A sincere and quiet man, he was very generous to his community as well as many needy organizations.

John Maxness
Monday, February 28th 2005
John Maxness, 92, died of natural causes at his dauther's home, south of Glasgow, on Sunday, February 27 at age 92.
Services will be held Friday, March 4, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nashua, with Interment in the Galpin Cemetery in Fort Peck.
Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
John Maxness was born on August 04, 1912 to Peter and Mary (Reppe) Maxness. He was their only child. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 27, 2005 at his daughter‚s home.
John attended the Taylor School, a country school located one-half mile from the family homestead for most of his years. He attended the Southside School in Glasgow the winter of 1919-1920 when his mother spent several months in the hospital, and the family moved to town. He played basketball for Nashua High School, and graduated in 1931. He was the class valedictorian. He attended Sunday school at the Galpin Church located between Nashua and Fort Peck.
John married Thelma Dascher, daughter of Charles and Pearl Dascher, on November 17, 1934 in Glasgow. They lived in various little towns that sprang up during the construction of the Fort Peck Dam. John worked on the dam from 1933 until 1940 until they moved to the family farm 16 miles south of Glasgow on the Fort Peck Highway. John continued to live there until 2002 when he moved to his daughter, s home.
Thelma passed away in August, 1978. John married Leila (Copeland) McPherson on September 20, 1980. Following his retirement from farming and ranching, he and Leila spent many winters in the Yuma, Arizona area. Leila passed away in January, 2003.
John was a farmer and rancher. He and his father farmed and ranched together until his father passed away in 1947.
John was a Valley County Commissioner from 1958 to 1982. He made many lifetime friends while serving as a commissioner including Mary Lou Eide, Maurice Arnold, Earl Daley and Howard "Tiny" Cornwell. One of the biggest challenges in Valley County during that time was the opening and closing of the Glasgow Air Force Base. He also saw the building of a new courthouse for Valley County.
He was a life-member of the Masonic Lodge, and of the Elks. He was a past-member of Luke's 100. He was on the Board of Directors for Nemont Manor and the Farmers Union Grain Elevator.
He is survived by four children: Darlene (Roy) Jones, Gordon (Karen) Maxness, Marla Jan (Donald) DeDobbeleer and Kathy Marks. He is survived by 12 grandchildren: Mike Tolzien, Patrick Tolzien, Billee (Tolzien) Blair, Joe Tolzien, James Tolzien, Tom Tolzien, Laura (Maxness) Barnes, John J. Maxness, Dana (DeDobbeleer) Hultgren, Josh DeDobbeleer, Norris Thompson and Spencer Marks. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jon Tolzien, in 1967, and one great-grandchild, Kyle Barnes, in 1990.
Services will be Friday, March 4th at 11:00 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nashua with burial at the Galpin Cemetery. Pallbearers are all of his grandchildren, friends and neighbors.

Irma "Jean" Christensen
Monday, February 21st 2005
SACO - Irma “Jean” Christensen 68 years, formerly of Fort Peck, retired hospital housekeeper and school janitor, died Friday, February 18, 2005 at her home in Saco of an apparent heart attack.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at the Champion Ferris Funeral Home in Sheridan, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place. Memorials maybe made to the Dayton Benefit Club, Dayton or Ranchester Fire Department c/o Karen Green, 1st Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801. Adams Funeral Home and Crematory of Malta are in charge of local arrangements.
Jean was born January 29, 1937 in Hardin, Montana, the daughter of Harry and Bertha (Hodges) Miller. Jean grew up and attended schools in Hardin and graduated from Hardin High School in 1955. She worked on a ranch in Hardin and moved to Dayton, Wyoming where she worked as a janitor. She worked in housekeeping at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She was married to Edward Lee Hammett and they later divorced. She then married Jack Kawulok. He preceded her in death in 1983. Jean married Clayton B. Christensen on March 7, 1984 in Dayton, Wyo. She helped him in the meat packing business until retiring in 1995. They moved to Fort Peck so they could enjoy the fishing. In 2001 they moved to Saco. Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hardin. She enjoyed fishing, camping, embroidery, horses, reading western novels and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband C. B. “Chris” Christensen of Saco; son, Jesse Hammett of Ranchester, Wyoming; daughter, Colleen Chavira of El Paso, Texas; step-children, Jerry Christensen of Linclon, Nebraska, Rich Christensen of Glendale, Arizona, Ron Christensen of Wright, Wyoming, Mike Christensen of Wright, Wyoming; step-daughter, Bernice Lizer of Kearney, Nebraska; sisters, Joy Miller of Hardin, Vicky Hegge of Missoula; brothers Larry Miller of Kenai, Alaska, Kevin Miller of Billings, 19 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.

Matthew James Bruce
Tuesday, February 15th 2005
MALTA-Matthew James Bruce, ”Mattman”, 53 years, died early Sunday morning, February 13, 2005 at his treasured cabin at the Pines on Fort Peck Lake, his favorite place in the world. Matt was the owner and operator of Matt’s Alignment and Brakes in Malta. It appears to be natural causes; the Valley County Coroner is waiting on the results of and autopsy that was done on Monday.
Vigil services will be 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 17 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mass will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 18 at St. Mary’s Catholic with interment in the Malta Cemetery following the mass. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Becky Hould Bruce; two daughters, Amy and Sally, and two sons, Donnie and Lonnie Kaufmann. Also surviving are his mother, Charlotte Bruce of Glasgow; Michael Bruce of Bremerton, WA; Mark (Barb) Bruce of Brooklyn Park, MN; Pam (Richard) Bruce Hartman, Killdeer, ND; Freda (Steve) Bruce Ike, Williston, ND; father- and mother-in-law Don and Kay Hould; brothers-in-law Bruce (Linda) Hould, Malta; Pat (Lavina) Hould, Lewistown; Dennis (Tess) Hould, Malta; and sister-in-law Kathy (Mike) Iannacchione, Round Mountain, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles who loved him dearly and loved to hear him laugh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Bruce on February 1, 2005, his brother Tim Bruce on July 19, 2003, and sister Terry Bruce in October of 1988.
Matt was born July 6, 1951 in Glasgow, MT to Willard and Charlotte (Route) Bruce. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1969 and then attended Concordia College and Montana State University-Billings (Eastern). During and after high school he worked for Andy’s Texaco and Markle’s Oil Company in Glasgow. After opening Matt’s Alignment and Brake in May of 1979, he met Becky Hould Bruce and they were married on July 2, 1982. A proud, independent business owner, he took the time to help numerous people in need, 24/7. He enjoyed every aspect of his business, including: working side-by-side with the guys, chatting with the customers, placing orders with the sales representatives, doing his daily bookwork, and the after hours company. It was his personal mission to make sure every person had a safe vehicle to drive.
Matt was active in both communities of Malta and Glasgow. He served as a volunteer fireman in both cities, and was Fire Chief in Malta. He served on the Board of Directors of the First State Bank, and was a member of the Malta Rotary Club, Malta Club, Pines Water System Board, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he worked “Searches” with the youth of Phillips County.
He loved spending weekends and vacation time at his cabin at the Pines where he could be found sitting in his boat on the glassy waters of Fort Peck Lake. When the wind blew, he and Snickers retreated to the deck of the cabin to be the “spark that started the fire” by entertaining his friends, barbequing, and telling “Mattman” stories. The highlight of many weekends was playing “games” organized by Becky for all who volunteered to participate.
Matt will be remembered for his generous heart, his quick wit and sense of humor, his ability to coin a phrase, his whistling of a favorite tune, and his loyalty to friends and family. He touched many lives in a positive way. A Matt Bruce Memorial Fund has been established at the First State Bank Of Malta, P.O. Box 910, Malta, Mt 59538

Myron F. "Barney" Baker

Myron F. "Barney" Baker, 84, died of natural causes in Mesa, AZ, on Tuesday, February 8, 2005. Services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Glasgow on Saturday, February 19, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. Intermnent will be in the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
On February 8, 2005, in Mesa Arizona, Myron F. "Barney" Baker was called home.
Myron was born June 18, 1920 in Flaxville, Montana to Jay and Alice Baker, the fourth of twelve children. He graduated from Flaxville High School in 1939 and for a short time worked on the Fort Peck Dam.
Following service in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Thompson Falls, Montana, he moved to Portland, Oregon and worked in the Naval Shipyards.
In 1941 he returned to Montana and enlisted in the U.S. Army. Barney was stationed at a number of stateside military bases as an Infantryman instructor/trainor and in 1943 was transferred to the European Theatre where he was awarded three Bronze Stars and earned a Purple Heart for combat service.
While serving with the 78th Lightning Division in the Hurtgen Forest at the Battle of the Bulge he was taken Prisoner of War. In 1945 he was liberated by allied forces, honorably discharged and returned home to Flaxville.
Later that year he moved to Glasgow and together with a brother, Virgil, worked in the restaurant business. There he met Ruth V. Hofman, and they were married on October 5, 1946. He hired out on the Great Northern Railroad as a Brakeman and retired as an Amtrak conductor in 1984 after a 38-year career with the railroad. Barney enjoyed his retirement years spending winters in Mesa, Arizona and summers in Kalispell, close to his children and grandchildren. His hobbies included Golf, cooking, and fishing, but his real passion was writing poetry. His published poem "Indian Summer in Montana" is one he is most noted for.
SURVIVORS: Wife of 59 years Ruth V. Baker of Mesa, Arizona.
One Daughter: Linda Williams and (Ken Harman) of Coeur d‚Alene, Idaho
One Son: Michael and (Kari Baker) of Kalispell, Montana
Six Grandchildren: Wade Williams, Nahum Tkachyk, Caleb Tkachyk, and Cami Ames, all of Kalispell, Montana. Flint Baker of Great Falls, Montana, and Ian Baker of Helena, Montana
Five Great-Grandchildren Brianna, Wyatt, Maija, Ariel, and Luke
Two brothers- Clinton R and Morris Baker of Seattle, Washington
One sister Shirley Filbert of Seattle, Washington
