Freeda A. Knaff

Freeda A. Knaff died of natural causes at home on the family farm outside of Glasgow. She was 94. A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. atQueen of Angels Catholic Church in Nashua. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 16, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Glasgow with burial in Highland Cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Freeda was born on October 22, 1910 in Waverly, Illinois to Roy Sevier and Della (Witherbee) Sevier.
She came to Montana at the age of nine and her family homesteaded south of the Fort Peck Spillway. After that, Freeda moved with her family to Frazer, Montana where her father delivered mail. Then her family moved to Nashua where Freeda and her siblings could attend school. While living in Nashua, Freeda helped the family run the Eat More Cafe' where she worked many hours and made her first pie!
She married Walter L. Knaff on January 28, 1938 in Glasgow, MT. They lived together a short time in Park Grove, Montana before Walter and Freeda purchased land on the North Bench, where they raised their family.
Freeda was a member of the Queen of Angels Catholic Church and Altar Society in Nashua, MT, a 4-H Leader, and a member of the North Bench Home Demonstration Club.

Eva was born on April 28, 1913 in Seattle, Washington to Forrest Foust and Ruth (Jackson) Foust. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1932. She married Walter Luse on June 4, 1932 in Glasgow.
She lived in Glasgow the whole time she was married with the exception of living in Washington while Walter worked in the shipyards during World War II. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Glasgow. She was in the Home Demonstration Club, Degree of Honor, and Baptist Church Circle. She was a homemaker, also working as a housekeeper at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital for 15 years and also worked at Woolworths. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, gardening, canning foods, and especially her family.
Always a friend to everyone, giving help to all. She loved her family dearly and was proud of all her children and grandchildren.

Ruby Allean Willis

Saturday morning on Feb. 5, 2005, Ruby passed on quietly and went to be with her family in heaven. She suffered for some time with a multitude of ailments and hardships. Through it all, her gentle hand and honest spirit touched the hearts and souls of those she met. Her joy and her spirit will live on in their lives. Ruby is survived by her daughters, Patricia and Sherryl; and her sons, Fred, Rick and Jack.
Ruby was born in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Dec. 2, 1930. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1949 and married William Fred Willis on Sept. 11, 1950. They moved the family, two daughters and one son to Montana in 1960. There they established their permanent home and added two more sons to the family.
They settled near Fort Peck, where they raised their children and watched their grandchildren grow. Their extended family included six foster children taken into their loving home. Her husband, Fred passed away on Sept. 19, 1995. Ruby then moved into Nemont Manor in Glasgow a little later were she found new joy in friends she made at the manor. She held a special place in her heart for special friend "Chub" DeSonia.
When her health started to fail, Ruby moved in with her family and finally she was moved to the Billings Health and Rehab Community in Billings were she was treated with love and caring by a loving group of special people.
She is survived by her sisters, Geraldine, Nila, and Helen, all of Oklahoma City; her children, Pat Moseman of Roundup, Sherryl Casper of Buffalo, Wyo., Fred Willis of Billings, Rick Willis of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Jack Willis of Belt, who is serving in the U.S. Air Force; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at The Fort Peck Community Church, in Fort Peck. Burial will be in the Fort Peck Cemetery.

Kay Long, loving wife and mother, passed away in Glasgow, Montana on February 3, 2005. She was born Alta Kay Campbell on August 2, 1934 in Wolf Point, Montana to Mike Campbell and Zella Nefzger. She married Clayton Long on December 16, 1950 in Glasgow. They lived in Wolf Point until 1956, then moved to Glasgow. She worked at the hospital, the base, and retired from Milk River, Inc. in 2001.
She loved to do yard work, grow flowers, and spend time with her family and friends. Kay is survived by:

William J. “Bill” Wersal

William J. “Bill” Wersal, Jr., age 67, of Mankato, died Sunday, January 30, 2005 at his residence following a battle with lung cancer. Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2005 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Bill was born on August 15, 1937 in Springfield. He was the son of William J. Sr. and Mary (Roiger) Wersal. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Homan on May 8, 1958 in Fairfax. They later divorced. Over the years, Bill was employed in grain elevator construction, was a mechanic, carpenter, and janitorial worker. He also worked in drainage tiling, garden tilling, and owned a gas station and sports shop. Bill was a member of A.A., the Turtle Club, Snowmobile Club, Elk’s Club, and an active church member. He enjoyed playing the concertina, doing carpentry, hunting and fishing, playing cards, fossil hunting, was an avid collector and a snipe hunting guide. Bill was a “Jack of All Trades” and a loving father and grandfather who built a reputation for helping any and all.
Bill is survived by six children, Debbie Kallem of Kalispell, MT, Kevin (Angie) Wersal of Glasgow, MT, Denise (Earl) Carson of Glasgow, MT, Lori Jenson of LeCenter, Brenda (Gary) Wick of LeCenter, and Jodi Wersal of Mankato; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Leonard (Dorothy) Wersal of Owatonna, Harold (Mary) Wersal of Morgan; five sisters, Irene Groebner of New Ulm, Evelyn (Ray) Kastner of Sanborn, Lucille (Lloyd) Johnson of Morgan, MaryAnn (Leo) Veit of New Ulm, and Donna Weisensel of Springfield; also many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, William J. Wersal III.

Don was born in Malta and attended the Lone Pine School in South Valley County.
He attended two years of high school in Malta and then graduated from Glasgow High School. He has been a life-long rancher and stockman.
Don married Julie Burke on July 14, 1971 in Kalispell, Montana. They have resided on the family ranch in South Valley County.
He was a member of the Montana Stockgrowers, Montana Hereford Association, National Rifle Association, Elks Lodge, Fort Peck Game Range Committee, Will JamesSociety, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bit making, rawhide working, leather working, gardening and coin collecting.
