Donald Oss died March 10, 2006 in Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow after a lengthy illness.
Don was born November 16, 1933 in Lansford, ND to John and Elsie
(Purcell) Oss. He was born on the family farm, and attended school and
graduated from Lansford High School. After finishing school he worked as a truck driver for various companies in North Dakota.
Don married Sandra Grant of Tagus, North Dakota in March of 1965. They had 3 children; Darrin, Eric, and Angie. In 1969 Sandy accepted a teaching position in Glasgow. They moved to Glasgow after Don finished working for a trucking company in Alaska. In Glasgow Don was employed by the Glasgow School District as a custodian, retiring in 1999 after 29 ½ years.
He was an avid hunter and gun collector, and was especially proud of his induction into the North Dakota Amateur Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the Lansford Blue Devils.
Don is survived by one brother, Kenneth Oss, of Minot, ND, his wife, Sandy, of Glasgow, and their children, Darrin (Becky) Oss of Helena, MT, Eric Oss (Mackenzie Moore) of Portland, Oregon, and Angela (Jeff) Warren of Billings, MT, and two grandchildren, Katlyne and Jason.
He is also survived by children from a previous marriage; Wendy (Fred) Shoemaker, Penny (Jack) Harrison, Tammy Harris, and Troy (Dolly) Oss, all of Boise, Idaho, as well as 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Helen Grant of Berthold, North Dakota, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Swede Oss, and sisters Jeanette Balkes, Geneva Harold, Flossie Zeite, and Sophie Adams.

BORN: June 19, 1917 in Glasgow, Montana
PARENTS: Clifford H. and Helen O. (Walter) Newton
Walter attended the Newton School south of Glasgow and then attended Glasgow High School. After school he worked on the construction of the Fort Peck Dam in the tunnels and the dredges until 1939. He also worked for Valley County and the Glasgow Stockyards.
Walter married Frances Sandvig in Glasgow on October 25, 1937. They farmed and ranched south of Glasgow raising black angus cattle. He was very active in the Ridgerunners Saddle Club, helping to build their building, and was a member of the Elks. Every year he donated a calf to the Yellowstone Boys Ranch and his first load of wheat was given to the hospital. Walter enjoyed boating, playing pitch, square dancing, and cribbage.

Roy was raised west of Malta, MT and attended schools in Malta. He joined the US Army and was stationed in California, West Virginia, and Denver, Colorado.
On March 14, 1948 Roy married Dolores Hershman in Salinas, California. They lived in Babb, Montana, Nashua, Montana, and then lived in Glasgow since 1953. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, whist, wood working, and was an avid local sports follower. He was a dog lover and especially enjoyed goose hunting.

BORN: August 8, 1922 on the family homestead north of Saco, Montana
PARENTS: Andrew M. Strommen and Oral (Kranz) Strommen
Olaf was born 16 miles north of Saco on the family homestead. He
attended school at the Huntley School and graduated from Saco High School in 1940. He joined the US Army in 1943 served in the South Pacific Theatre in World War II, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines, in combat zones until the end of the war. He earned the American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, and a Victory Medal Presidential Citation. His father Andrew was killed in a automobile accident in 1945 so after the war in 1946 Olaf moved back to Montana to farm with his brother Andy Strommen. Olaf farmed alone from 1950 to 1992 when he retired.
On January 1, 1948 Olaf married Shirley Porter. They farmed together until Shirley passed away in January of 1988. Olaf served as President of the Saco Dehy Board for 22 years and as a Director of the Montana Hereford Association for several years. He raised purebred Herefords from 1961 until 1979. He judged the first Hereford Show in the Metra in Billings and also in Maple Creek, Sask., Canada. He also consigned and judged many Hereford sales and served as officers of those associations. Olaf also served on the Saco School Board for 9 years, and was a life time member of the American Legion.
Olaf married Donna Mavencamp in 1989. Donna passed away in 2003. He enjoyed his horses and he loved to ride. He also enjoyed golf. Olaf loved to see a white face on a cow.

Dale Eugene Hawkins, 73 of Billings, former Valley County resident, died February 28, 2006 at the Billings Deaconess Hospital.
Dale was born on October 20, 1932 to Lyle and Goldie (Walker) Hawkins of Cottage Hills, Ill. He was the fourth child of six children, who completed school to the eighth grade.
In 1950 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and in 1952 he met Dora Hanson from St. Stephens, New Brunswick, Canada. They dated for a while and were married on April 24, 1954. Shortly after their marriage, Dale enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Together they had three children. The family moved from base to base following his career. Dale retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1972 and they stayed in Anchorage Alaska.
In 1992 they moved to St. Marie, where they lived for six years before having to move to Billings due to Daleā•˙s health.
Dale enjoyed hockey games, camping trips, fishing, woodworking, and watching ESPN. He was an excellent father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who always had quality time to spend with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Dora in 2004 and an infant daughter, Norma Jeanine, in 1958.
