Maynard Gene Nelson
Gene Nelson died of brain cancer August 30th, 1999 at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow of brain cancer. He was 56. Visitations will be held at Clayton Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point from 9am-7pm on Friday, September 3rd. Funeral services will be held by his family at 10am on Saturday, September 4th, at the Wolf Point High School Gymnasium, with Reverend Timothy Whiteman officiating. Internment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Wolf Point. Memorial donations may be made to The Gene Nelson Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Laura Krath, Guidance Councilor at Wolf Point High School.
Gene was born in Wolf Point in 1943 in Wolf Point. He was proud to be a northeastern Montana resident all of his life. As a highly respected teacher, coach and family man, Mr. Nelson dedicated 31 years to inspiring and leading his pupils and children to be their best as athletes and as people. He has touched many and will be dearly missed.
Gene is survived by his wife, Vicki Nelson of Glasgow; his mother, Junette Nelson of Wolf Point; 4 sisters: Karen Boe of Bismarck, North Dakota, Joyce Peters of Wolf Point, Donna Beuthien and Debbie Croff, both of Hamilton; children Bridger Nelson, US Navy of Brunswick, Maine, Mandy Nelson and Trevor Nelson, both of Portland, Oregon, Brent Braden of Tuscon, Arizona, and Kaysi Braden of Spokane, Washington; and his longtime canine companion, Andi.
Ann Heikens Willis
Ann Heikens Willis, 37, died at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow of cancer on August 24th, 1999. Services will be held on August 27th at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Nashua with the burial in the Nashua City Cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ann Heikens Willis was born in Glasgow on August 22, 1961. She was raised in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1979, and attended Northern Montana College in Havre. She worked at Northern Montana College in the Business Department and later worked in Glasgow as a secretary. She married Rick Willis in Nashua on September 11th, 1981. They were later divorced. In 1987 she developed cancer and she courageously battled the disease. Her daughter was her whole life; she cared for her always.
Survivors include, daughter: Jennifer Willis of Nashua, parents: Bob and Helen Heikens of Nashua, sisters: Gayle Breding of Billings, and Betty Jo Nelson of Pullman Washington, and brother: Mike Heikens of Orlando Florida.
Gavin Lyle Allen
Gavin Lyle Allen died in an automobile accident south of Malta on August 21, 1999. He was 15. Services will be Monday, August 23rd at 11am at the GHS gymnasium, with burial in the Sunset Cemetery in Fairfield on Wednesday, August 25th at 11am. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Gavin was born in Great Falls to Lyle and January Cook Allen. He moved with his family to Glasgow when he was in the 5th grade. Attending schools in Glasgow, he was active in baseball through junior high, and played football, basketball and track at GHS. He was also active in the choir, in scouting, and in the Young Men’s Organization of his church, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include his parents, Lyle and January of Glasgow; brothers Josey, Shiloh and Jesse of Glasgow; sister Arielle of Glasgow; grandparents Charles Cook of Ronan and Don Allen and LaDeanne Allen of Augusta; great grandparents Madge Allen of Fairfield and Lile Squires of Fairfield; numerous and much loved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Robert Rennick
Robert E. Rennick, 68, died at his home in Glasgow of cancer on August 15th, 1999. Services will be held on August 19th with the burial in the Hillview Cemetery in Hinsdale. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Rennick was born in Hinsdale on November 3rd, 1931. He moved to Glasgow in 1964 and married Donna Nelson. He had his own trucking firm, hauled cattle, was a heavy equipment operator, and was an ambulance operator with Rogers Ambulance Service. He also worked on the wrecker service and at Rogers Gas Station. Robert enjoyed rodeos and hunting.
Survivors include wife Donna Rennick, and 3 sons: Bob Rennick Jr. and Joe Rennick, both of Glasgow, 2 sisters: Harriet Keough of Havre and Mabel Pagel of Williamson, Georgia, and half-brother Harry Rennick of Arizona.
Viola Montgomery
Viola Montgomery, 97, died at the Valley View Home in Glasgow on August 14th, 1999. Services will be held on August 20th at the Clayton Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Oleah Alice Viola Johnson was born in Pine Lake Township, Gonvick, MN on April 9th, 1902. In 1926 she married Oliver Montgomery at Scobey. They moved to Wolf Point where they lived until 1985, then moved to Glasgow's Nemont Manor. Vi enjoyed good health most of her life which allowed her to share many talents with both friends and family. She had the God given gift of hospitality. Vi was a 50-year member of both the First Presbyterian Church in Wolf Point and the OES, Riverside Chapter.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Helen (James) Burt, Glasgow, Lona (Kastor) Simensen, Fort Peck, and Jean (Hans) Pohl of Fargo, ND, 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Eugene Leonard
Eugene Leonard Keil, 75, died at his home in Nashua on August 7th, 1999. Services were August 12th with burial in the Nashua Cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
He was born in Saskatchewan in 1924, and lived in the Nashua area his entire life. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII, working in the Medical Corps. He worked on many farms in the Nashua area, and worked for the state of Montana as a surveyor. He enjoyed his pets.
Survivors include 2 sisters: Irene Anderson of Glasgow and Thelma Corey of Hermaston, Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews, including: Myrna Laukner of Nashua, Smokey Stover of Nashua, Marlene Erickson of Larslan and Lavour Anderson of Nashua.
Anne Timpe Lecy
Anne Timpe Lecy, 93, died at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, North Dakota of natural causes on Tuesday, February 29th, 2000. Services will be held on Monday, March 6th at 9:00am at the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow.
Anne was born on October 22nd, 1906 in Madison, South Dakota. In 1907, her parents; Catherine (Venner) and Herman G. Timpe moved the family of four boys; Walter, August, Edwin, and Lee) and two girls; Mary and Anne, to a homestead southwest of Almont where Regina and Nickolas were born.
Anne graduated from Almont High School in 1924 and from Valley City Teachers College in 1927. She taught school in Flaxville, Geyser, and Glasgow; where she met her husband Carel "Doc" Lecy. They were happily married on November 27, 1932 until Doc's death on July 1st, 1983. Anne was very active in church work, making over 1, 000 dolls and other stuffed toys to fill orders from all over the USA. A portion of this money was used to buy bells for the church in Glasgow. In 1990, Anne moved to New Salem where she died peacefully in her sleep the morning of February 29th.
Survivors include two siblings; Regina Nilles and Nickolas Timpe.
Virginia Van Gorden
Vurginia Van Gorden, 79, died at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow of natural causes on Friday, February 25th, 2000. Services will be Wednesday, March 1st at 2 pm at Nemont Manor in Glasgow, with Reverend Emory Robotham officiating, with burial in Highland Cemetery.
Virginia was born in Missouri in 1921. She attended grade and high school in Clinton, Missouri, and went to business college in Kansas City. She also studied speech and elocution for one year. She worked for Skelly Oil Company for 5 years in the accounting department. She married Wesley Van Gorden in 1947. Together, they worked in mining companies and moved extensively for several years. In 1960 they developed their own business using the knowledge they had acquired while mining, and Virginia's business background. The craft involved turning dirt into beautiful pottery. In 1970 they sold this business in Cardwell, Montana, and retired, moving back to Missouri. They were there for a short time before the mountains of Montana called them back.
In 1988, with Wesley's health poor, Virginia and her beloved husband and partner of 42 years moved to Nemont Manor in Glasgow. There she took care of Wesley until his death in 1989. She continued to enjoy a full life in the manor until her death. She was extremely interested in knowledge. She never quit learning. Virginia was an eloquent writer, a prolific artist, an extremely generous contributor to the Christmas Gifts for the Needy program, a wonderful friend to all, and a loving stepmother to many. She lived true to her Christian principles and was devoted to her family and extended family throughout her life. Her loss cannot be measured. We can go forward, however, knowing she will be there to guide us home. She enjoyed writing, writing poetry, knitting, sewing and pottery. She was Worthy Matron of Eastern Star 3 times.
Survivors include 2 sisters: Alice Payne of Springfield, Ohio, and Jeanette Young of Independence, Missouri; friend Susan Baadsgard of Glasgow. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother.
Louis Adam Schafer
Louis Adam Schafer, 77, died of natural causes on February 28th, 2000 at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. Services will be Thursday, March 2nd, at 2 pm at Bell Chapel in Glasgow, with Reverend Emory Robotham officiating. Burial will be in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
He was born in 1922 in Govenlack, Saskatchewan, and began managing the family farm during World War II. He eventually took over the farm in 1950 when his father died and operated it until 1964. In 1957 he married Daisy Isabell Dickison in Havre. They sold their farm in Saskatchewan in 1964 and moved to Glasgow, and bought and operated the La Casa Motel and he also worked for the Austin Packing Plant. Daisy died in 1971. During 1971 Louis sold the La Casa and went to work for J & B Supply, where he worked for 18 years before he retired. He met Jean Kallem and they have been together for over 25 years. He enjoyed skunking people at cribbage, cards, reading, playing liars poker and setting things straight. He was very good at braiding tow ropes and reigns for horse bridles; he was a cowboy at heart.
Survivors include Jean Kallem of Glasgow; 3 daughters: Maried Pederson and husband Duke of Glasgow, Gwen Page and husband Doug of Glasgow; Kristi Kallem of Glasgow; 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 1 sister: Louise Schafer of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 daughters, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Joan Carol Track Clampitt
Joan Carol Track Clampitt of Oswego died of natural causes at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point on February 19th, 2000. Seh was 65. Wervices will be February 24th at 1 pm at Bell Chapel in Glasgow, with burial in King's Memorial Cemetery in Wolf Point. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
She was born in Poplar in 1934 and raised in Wolf Point; she has been in the Frazer area for the last 40 years. She married Frank Clampitt in Malta and they have been married over 40 years. She enjoyed making star quilts, going to basketball games, bingo and branding cattle. She raised her grand-daughter Renee and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was the last survivor of the original Track family.
Survivors include her husband Frank of Oswego; 3 sons: Charles of Wolf Point, Frank of Oswego and Ken of Frazer; 1 daughter, Joan Keiser of Wolf Point; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
