JENIMAE (JOHNSON) DAHL
Jenimae (Johnson) Dahl, 80, died of natural causes on Wednesday, December 19, 2001, at Valley View Home in Glasgow, MT.
She was born January 28, 1921, in Opheim to Joseph and Elvina (Benson) Johnson. She always lived in Opheim and graduated from Ophiem High School. She married Otto Dahl at Opheim on December 10, 1939.
She was a very outgoing person. She loved to make buns and give them to friends and she enjoyed traveling. Her grandchildren were very important to her. To have known Jenimae was a true blessing. She had a positive input on all of our lives with a cheerful attitude. She always remained thankful in spite of her failing health. She loved to visit and never met a stranger. She welcomed all people to her home, making them feel comfortable with her sincere hospitality. Family gatherings will always hold special memories and be dear to her loved one's hearts. For Jenimae, the more people the happier the occasion.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donalda Jean Dahl, of Lubbock, TX.
She is survived by her husband, Otto, of Glasgow; two sons, Rodney Dahl of Roundup and Allen Dahl of Great Falls; three daughters, Myrna Delay of Littleton, CO, Zona Gale Attwood of Melbourne, FL, and Lori Pyle of Gardnerville, NV; one sister, Eunice Crisp of Arkansas; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 23, at 2 p.m. at the Opheim Methodist Church in Opheim with Rev. Tim Henz officiating. Burial was in the Lawndale Cemetery in Opheim. Bell Mortuary of Glasgow was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Christopher Dahl, Zachary Dahl, Toby Dahl, Seth Dahl, Aaron Delay and Nathan Delay.
LOUIS ALFRED TOAVS
Louis Alfred Toavs, 87, died Christmas morning at 2:25 a.m. at the Northeast Montana Health Services Facility in Wolf Point, MT.
He was born on July 11, 1914 to Abraham F. and Maria Michel Toavs in Ulen, MN the seventh of fifteen children. He was two years old when he moved with his parents from Minnesota to homestead north of Wolf Point.
On June 3, 1937, he married Lena Koslowsky at Hawley, MN. They both worked in Wolf Point, Louis at Camrud Motors and Lena at the Sherman Hotel. They moved to the farm on Tule Creek in 1939 and to their present farm in 1949, purchased from an uncle N.J. Toavs.
He was a lifelong member of the Wolf Point Bethel Mennonite Church. He had a deep faith in God that was exemplified in his encouragement to family and friends in ministry which led to many "hands on" projects for churches and missions.
Louis was a farmer/rancher at heart. He loved each part of the seasons as he worked hard to see the success and progress of cattle and farming. Breaking up sod was one of his joys, from horses to the big John Deere four-wheel drives. A man who lived to the fullest is shown by the large John Deere collection he assembled in his later season of life. Many visitors come from far and near to see this dream.
Louis was active in community affairs, having served on the Trinity Hospital Board, Lustre Christian High School, Mennonite Disaster Service, and Grace University Advisory Board.
Survivors include his wife Lena of the family home; a daughter Lorna and husband John Jackson of Wolf Point; a grandson Terry, wife Lori and three great-granddaughters, Meagan, Laurel, and Kiley of Ljubljana Slovenia; a granddaughter Brenda, husband Richard Darland and three great-grandsons, Kyle, Andrew Louis, and Benjamin of Vancouver, WA; three sisters, Rosella Reeves, Lily Baker, and Lila Bartel all of Wolf Point; three brothers, Jesse of Anoka, MN, John of Wolf Point, and Harry of Billings, and many more family and friends.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, December 30, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Clayton Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 31 at the Clayton Memorial Church with Pastor Marvin Penner of Wolf Point and Pastor Neville Peterson of Glendive officiating. Interment will be at Wolf Point Bethel Church Cemetery.
CARL C. "SWEDE" FAHLGREN
Carl C. "Swede" Fahlgren died on Friday, January 25th at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings. He was 78. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29th at the Malta Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Hillview Cemetery in Hinsdale. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
ANGELINE “ANGIE” GOLIMOWSKI
Angeline “Angie” Golimowski, 89, died of natural causes on January 18th at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. Services will be Tuesday, January 22nd at 2p.m. at Bell Chapel in Glasgow with Reverend Dave Hodsdon officiating and with burial in Highland Cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
She was born in Poland to Valentine and Anna Przywara and moved with her family to Buffalo, New York. She was raised and attended schools in Buffalo. She worked many years as a supervisor of a laundry department of a Buffalo hospital, retiring in 1977. Angie moved to the Nemont Manor in Glasgow in 1989 to be with her family and resided there until December last year, when she moved to the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. She was an avid Buffalo Bills football fan and enjoyed professional wrestling. She also enjoyed knitting afghans, bingo, cards (especially rummy) and her grandchildren.
Survivors include 2 sons: Robert J. Golimowski and his wife Dianna of Glasgow, Frank J. Golimowski and his wife Barbara of San Antonio, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers.
GWYNETHA SWENSON
Gwynetha Swenson, 88, died of natural causes at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital on January 9th. Services will be Sunday, January 20th at the Glasgow Evangelical Church with burial in Twin Falls, Idaho. Delvin Hackwith will be officiating. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Gwynetha was born in Twin Falls, Idaho to William and Georgiann Beckley. She grew up in Twin Falls and later married Lawrence Swenson in 1928. Gwynetha and Lawrence farmed outside of Jerome, Idaho, until his death in 1982. She then moved to Jerome, Idaho, until 1993 when she moved to Bozeman. She has lived in Glasgow since October 2001. She was a farm-wife and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing and fishing.
Survivors include 2 granddaughters: Cammy Hackwith of Glasgow and Connie Swenson of Minneapolis and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, and 2 sons: Arthur and Laurence Swenson.
MAE DELLABAUGH
Mae Dellabaugh, 82, died of natural causes on January 10th at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital. Services will be Monday, January 14th at 10 a.m. at Bell Chapel with services held in Great Falls at a later date. Burial will also be in Great Falls. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mae was born in Great Falls in 1919 and attended grades four through twelve there at St. Mary's School. She moved with her family to Fort Peck in January, 1941. She began work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the main office of the Fort Peck Dam in March of 1942, where she worked for over 43 years until her retirement in 1985. She owned her home and lived in Fort Peck until she moved to the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow in the summer of 1996.
Mae was a devout Catholic and attended mass and communion daily. She enjoyed working in her garden, loved her flowers and spending time with her cat. Mae was very loving and caring to her family, friends and relatives.
Mae was preceded in death by a twin sister Francis, and brother James, in addition to her father and mother. She is survived by her longtime friends Albert and Delcie Schartner and several cousins in Great Falls.
FERN LORENE LACY KARCHER
Fern Lorene Lacy Karcher, 84, died of natural causes on January 7th at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. Services will be Friday, January 11th at 1 p.m. at Bell Chapel in Glasgow with Reverend Martin Mock officiating and with burial in the Nashua City Cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Fern was born in Nashua in 1917 to Harry and Elsie Lindsey Lacy. She was born and homesteaded north of Nashua. She attended schools in Frazer and Nashua where she graduated from high school. In 1936 Fern married George Pug Karcher in Glasgow. They lived in Nashua, Vancouver, Washington, during the war, and returned to the Nashua and Fort Peck area to raise their family.
She was a member of the Gem and Mineral Club, Good Sams and Nashua and Glasgow Senior Citizens Associations. She enjoyed playing Bingo, crafts of all sorts, bowling, traveling, camping, fishing and hunting. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, a son-in-law, James Buchholz, and 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Survivors include 1 brother: Cleatis Lacy and his wife Betty of Grand Coulee, Washington; 4 daughters: Janice Masters and her husband Arthur of West Yellowstone, Montana, Patricia Catt and her husband Donald of Kennewick, Washington, Joan Buchholz of Merced, California, and Karen Kuebler and her husband Dick of Nashua; 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
LILLIAN IRENE CROSSEN
Lillian Irene Crossen, 79, died of natural causes on January 2nd at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. Services will be Tuesday, January 8th at 2p.m. at Bell Chapel in Glasgow with Reverend Martin Mock officiating. There will be a service in Saco at a later date. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Saco. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Lillian was born in Saco to William and Minnie Scheele. She attended school in Saco, graduating from Saco High School. She married Lawrence Crossen in Seattle in 1942. She lived both in California and Washington before returning to Montana in 1973. She has been a resident of Valley View since 1976.
Survivors include one son: Dwight Crossen of Campbell, California; 2 sisters: Evelyn Rusten of Seattle and Darlene Keil of Glasgow; 2 brothers: Leonard Scheele of Fort Benton and Don Scheele of Saco, and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
TERRESSA KADIA DALEY
Terressa Kadia Daley, 84, died of pneumonia at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow on February 15th. Services will be at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow on Tuesday, February 19th at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Martin Mock officiating and with burial in Highland Cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
She was born in 1917 in Malvern, Arkansas, to james Newman and Hattie (Westbrook) Newman. Her family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, when Kadia was 17 and she worked as a drug store fountain worker. She met Earl Daley at Wahlgren's and they were married in 1942 in Little Rock. Earl was stationed in Little Rock before entering World War II. While he was in Germany, Kadia continued to live and work in Little Rock. When he returned from the war, they moved back to Earl's home state, Montana. Kadia was a busy mother involved with helping out with special projects at Spring Valley Country School. Throughout the years she was camp counselor, chaperone for Farmers Union Groups of Valley County and Lucky Clover 4-H Camps. She loved gathering up all the neighbor kids and heading 50 miles to the swimming pool or the local drive-in theatre. She has been famous in the family for providing each and every member with a hand made quilt or comforter.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Daley of Glasgow; 1 son: Jonathan Daley of Nashua; 3 daughters: Jane Collins and her husband Wayne of Nashua; Wanda Dale and her husband Steve of Glasgow; Judy Elletson and her husband Donnie of Glasgow; 8 grandchildren, 3 1/2 great grandchildren; 1 sister: Beatrice Garsjo of Benton City, Washington; 1 brother: Bobby Newman of Little Rock, Arkansas.
TY ALAN COOK
Ty Alan Cook died of natural causes at age 16 months. He died at Benefis Health Care Hospital in Great Falls. Services were February 16th at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow with Reverend Chris Flohr officiating and with burial in Highland Cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ty was born in Great Falls to Scott and Brenda (Isakson) Cook. He liked to listen to Elmo, he giggled when splish splash was on his tummy. He liked to go for rides in the car. He loved music. He had a Mom and Dad that loved and cared for him very much.
Survivors include his parents, Scott A. and Brenda Cook of Glasgow; 1 brother: Scott M. Cook of the family home; grandparents Diana and Cliff Isakson of Glasgow and Patricia Hayes of Havre; great grandpa Michael Farley of Havre. Ty was preceded in death by a sister, Hanna, in 1995.
