Mr. Jesse E. Cooper
PHILADELPHIA - Mr. Jesse Edward Cooper, 67, of 2060 McKeen St., died Friday, March 20, 1998, at his home after a short illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Yvonne Cooper, who survives, and the son of Mr. Jesse Cooper and Mrs. Emma Long Cooper, who both survive.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and parents of Pontiac, Mich., include two daughters, Ms. Denise Cooper of Philadelphia and Mrs. Pamela Cooper Williams of Los Angeles; two sons, Mr. Larry Cooper of Tacoma, Wash., and Mr. Gregory Cooper of Los Angeles; five sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Walker of Graham, Mrs. Geraldine Turner of Burlington, Mrs. Elois Cain and Mrs. Betty Wright, both of Pontiac, and Mrs. Paulette Williams of Largo, Md.; three brothers, Mr. Earl Cooper of St. Louis, Mr. Charles Cooper of Largo and Mr. Nathaniel Cooper of Rochester Hills, Mich.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at G. Choice Funeral Chapel, North Broad Street, Philadelphia.

Mrs. Frances Aldridge
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Mrs. Frances Rice Aldridge, 86, of 4870 Brighton Drive, formerly of Burlington, died at 12:58 a.m. Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital after two months of failing health.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Mr. William 'Thatch' Aldridge and the daughter of Mr. Thomas Moore Rice and Mrs. Annie Lorene Davis Aldridge, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of The Eastern Star. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nancy A. Thomas of Tracy, Calif.; two sons, Mr. William T. Aldridge Jr. and Mr. Donald E. Aldridge, both of Jacksonville; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth R. Brinkley of Virginia Beach, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Concord United Church of Christ by the Rev. Robert Barrows, former pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Concord United Church of Christ Cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening.
Mr. Thomas Spencer
BURLINGTON - Mr. Thomas Odell 'T.O.' Spencer, 85, of Burlington Manor, 3615 S. Mebane St., died at 3:05 a.m. Monday, March 23, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was a former resident of N.C. 61, Whitsett.
A native of Randolph County, he was the husband of Mrs. Eunice Vaughn Spencer, and the son of Mr. Isaac Luther Spencer and Mrs. Ethel Farlow Spencer. He was a retired truck driver and was a member of Springwood Presbyterian Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Spencer Isley of Greensboro; a son, Mr. Tommy Spencer of Julian; five sisters, Mrs. Stella Blalock of Jamestown, Miss Juanita Spencer of Asheboro, Mrs. Annis Flynn of Charleston, S.C., Mrs. Virginia Blythe of Burlington and Mrs. Mary Cipple of Greensboro; a brother, Mr. Roosevelt Spencer of Browns Summit; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Tillson and Mrs. Gladys Hough; and a brother, Mr. Cohen Spencer.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Jonathan Freeman, pastor of Springwood Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. Jack D. Compton
MEBANE - Mr. Jack D. Compton of 909 W. Holt St., died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at his home after a long illness.
A native of Durham County, he was the husband of Mrs. Sarah Morrow Compton, who survives, and the son of Mr. Jack A. Compton and Mrs. Virginia Crisp Compton, both deceased. He was a self-employed truck driver.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Mr. Steve Compton of Burlington; and a daughter, Ms. Rita Fuller of Chapel Hill.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Mebane by the Rev. John Davis, pastor.

Mr. Sherman G. Scott
PINNACLE - Mr. Sherman Gray Scott, 80, of 1000 Shoals Road, died Monday morning, March 23, 1998, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem.
Born Sept. 14, 1917, in Surry County, he was the husband of Mrs. Kate Fulk Scott, who survives, and the son of Mr. George Wesley Scott and Mrs. Sally Marion Scott, both deceased. He was a retired farmer and a member of Shoals Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three daughters, Mrs. Barry (Barbara) Carroll of Burlington, Mrs. Ted (Audrey) Isaacs of High Point, and Mrs. Grady (Judy) Goodwin of Valdosta, Ga.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Mr. Roland Floyd Jarrell, 88, of 278 Otis Road, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at High Point Regional Hospital.
A native of Asheboro, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Lucy Jane Jarrell. He was a member of Central Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Ms. Melvia J. Powell of Liberty, Ms. Lois J. Boswell of Burlington and Ms. Priscilla Ann Jarrell of the home; five sons, Mr. J.C. Jarrell, Mr. David Jarrell, Mr. Bobby Jarrell and Mr. Johnny Jarrell, all of Asheboro, and Mr. George Herman Jarrell of High Point; a brother, Mr. Baxter Jarrell of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Daisy P. Rumfelt
ROCKY MOUNT - Mrs. Daisy Pharis Rumfelt, 78, died Monday, March 23, 1998.
Born Oct. 11, 1919, in Rockingham County, she was the wife of Mr. William G. 'Bill' Rumfelt, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. James W. Pharis and Mrs. Nannie Meeks Pharis, both deceased. She was a member of Falls Road Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Ms. Scott Rumfelt Collins of Rocky Mount; and a sister, Ms. Helen Pharis Thomas of Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunset Avenue by the Rev. Ross Davis. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Nancy M. Whitt
ROCKWELL - Mrs. Nancy Moody Whitt, 86, of the Meadows Retirement Center, 612 N.C. 152, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, March 23, 1998, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after several years of failing health, two weeks critical.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Harry Whitt, and the daughter of Mr. William Atlas Moody and Mrs. Carrie Victoria Younger Moody, both deceased. She was retired from Belk Beck Department Stores and was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Linda Bost of Rockwell; two sons, Mr. Larry Whitt of Henderson and Mr. Billy Whitt of Yaupon Beach; a brother, Mr. Ralph 'Dink' Moody of Burlington; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Mildred Batten.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Walter Patten, pastor of Grace Lower Stone United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

BURLINGTON - Mr. Clarence T. Key, 82, of 115 Friendly Road, died at 7:05 p.m. Monday, March 23, 1998, at his home after one year of failing health.
A native of Danville, Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Vera Linville Freeman Key, who survives, and the late Mrs. Dorothy Bason Key. He was the son of Mr. Joe Dobson Key and Mrs. Lucy Williams Key, both deceased. He was a retired distributor for Gordon Foods and was a member of First Baptist Church of Burlington.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include four daughters, Mrs. Nancy Hocutt of Williamston, Mrs. Carolyn Hurst of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Dorothy Farlow of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Ellen Allred of Hendersonville; a son, Mr. Joe Bason Key of Clearwater, Fla.; five sisters, Mrs. Clara Mitchell of Hendersonville, Mrs. Helen Smith of Pleasant Garden, Mrs. Hazel Wyrick of Gibsonville, Mrs. Gladys Bullock of Guilford College and Mrs. Reenie Goodwin of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

ELON COLLEGE - Mr. Roy Perry, 82, of 1102 Elon Ossipee Road, died at 9:01 p.m. Monday, March 23, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two years of failing health, five days critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Vivian Woodlief Perry, who survives, and the son of Mr. Benjamin Abner and Mrs. Daisy Mitchell Perry, both deceased. He was employed by O.G. Thompson and Sons General Contractors for many years and later worked as a self-employed carpenter. He was a Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three daughters, Mrs. Ramona Hanks of Gibsonville, and Mrs. Connie Reyna and Mrs. Linda Knight, both of Elon College; three sons, Mr. Roy L. Perry Sr. and Mr. Alan K. Perry Sr., both of Graham, and Mr. Wayne Perry of Charlotte; one brother, Mr. Abe Perry of Carolina Beach; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
