Mrs. Emma C. Welch
THOMASVILLE - Mrs. Emma Jean Cornwell Welch, 64, of 702 Georgia Ave., died Sunday afternoon, March 29, 1998, at her home.
Born Feb. 20, 1934, in Fountain Run, Ky., she was married
in 1953 to Mr. George William Welch, who died Jan. 10, 1992. She was the daughter of Mr. Clovis Jack Cornwell and Mrs. Margaret Brandon Cornwell, both deceased. She was employed for 15 years as manager of Mayberry's and following her retirement she was employed with the Thomasville Primary School for 11 years. She was an active member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member of Ladies No. 1 Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Debra) Bowers Sr. of Burlington and Mrs. Michael (Donna) Callahan of Asheboro; two sons, Mr. Jackie William Welch of Thomasville and Mr. Johnny Lee Welch of Archdale; six sisters, Mrs. Bobby (Glendith) Morrison, Mrs. Clifford (Brenda) Oliver, Mrs. Larry (Becky) Pitcock, all of Kentucky, Mrs. Lee Hughes Maine of Illinois, Mrs. David (Marie) Solomon of Indiana and Mrs. Jerry (Betty) Crabtree of Tennessee; a brother, Mr. Joe Cornwell of Kentucky; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was conducted Tuesday at Carolina Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Stuart White.
The family will be at the home.

Mr. Juan C. Flores
BURLINGTON - Mr. Juan Carlos Robles Flores, 19, of 852 S. Main St., Apt. 11, died Monday, March 30, 1998, in a drowning accident.
A native of Guadalajara, Mexico, he was the son of Mr. Juan Pablo Robles and Mrs. Maria Jesus Flores. He was an employee of Gate City Temporaries.
Survivors other than his mother of Mebane and father of Mexico include one brother, Mr. Cesar Robles of Mexico; two sisters, Miss Maria Rosario Robles and Miss Erika Mayela Robles, both of Mexico; a stepbrother, Mr. Lucio Gutierres of Mebane; a stepsister, Miss Ema Lopez of Mebane; and his grandmothers, Mrs. Rosario Sanchez and Mrs. Raquel Placencia, both of Mexico.

Mr. Thomas P. Bunton
LIBERTY - Mr. Thomas Paul Bunton, 81, of 3441 Timberidge Road, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at his home.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Beulah Lanier Bunton, who survives. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a former employee of Virginia Mills in Swepsonville and was a retired employee of Crompton and Knowles in Burlington. He was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church in Burlington.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Ms. Rosa Paulette Schreiber of Greensboro and Ms. Nancy Steelman of Pleasant Garden; two sisters, Mrs. Willis Ferguson of Winston-Salem and Mrs. Marie Cashwell of Greensboro; a brother, Mr. Grier Bunton of Burlington; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Liberty by the Rev. Lonnie Murray. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home from 6:30 to 9 this evening.
Mrs. Mary B. Humbert
GRAHAM - Mrs. Mary Blankinship Humbert, 83, of 779 Woody Drive, died at 12:34 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after an illness of three weeks, five days critical. She was formerly of 101 S. 10th St., Mebane.

Mr. Charlie Bigelow
SOUTH NORWALK, Conn. - Mr. Charlie Bigelow, 71, of 28 Quaker Road, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, March 30, 1998, at Norwalk Connecticut Hospital.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Helen Tate Bigelow, who survives, and the son of Mr. Cheezmon Bigelow and Mrs. Effie M. Bigelow, both deceased. He was a retired automobile mechanic.
Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Mr. Harrold Bigelow and Mr. Larry Bigelow, both of South Norwalk; a daughter, Miss Roxanne Bigelow of South Norwalk; a brother, Mr. Roy Bigelow of Burlington; and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Moore of Burlington.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at Nick Downer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the City of Norwalk Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home two hours before the service.

CEDAR GROVE - Mrs. Pearl Caroline Wade, 88, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 17, 1909, in Stafford County, Va., she was the wife of the late Mr. Herbert Wade, and the daughter of Mr. Silas Ray and Mrs. Rhoda White Ray, both deceased.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mary Pegues of Virginia; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Martin's Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Henry Simmons. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the church 45 minutes before the service.

MEBANE - Mrs. Mary Parker Jeffries, 85, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Born Dec. 31, 1912, in Orange County, she was the wife of Mr. John Jeffries, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. George Samuel Parker and Mrs. Mary Francis Haith, both deceased. She was a member of Martin's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a stepson, Mr. John H. Jeffries of Hillsborough; two sisters, Ms. Enermae Bradsher of Cedar Grove and Ms. Florence Thomas of Roxboro; two step grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Martin's Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronald Brooks and the Rev. Henry Simmons. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Ray D. Fisher
TITUSVILLE, Fla. - Mr. Ray D. Fisher of 404 Dahlia Ave., died Monday, March 30, 1998, at Jess Parrish Memorial Center after a six-month illness. He was a former resident of Burlington.
A native of Charlotte, he was the husband of Mrs. Bertha Massey Fisher, who survives. He was retired from Cape Canaveral in Florida.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two stepdaughters, Mrs. Joyce Moore Paisley and Mrs. Carolyn Moore Stuckey, both of Titusville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Temple Baptist Church in Titusville with burial in Titusville Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Harvey McQueen
BURLINGTON - Mr. Harvey G. McQueen, 69, of 76 Denise Drive, died at 2:08 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington after three years of failing health, three weeks critical.
A native of Montgomery County, he was the son of Mr. William McQueen and Mrs. Romelia Owens McQueen, both deceased. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and ABC Systems of Burlington-Graham. He was a member of the Lindsborg Masonic Lodge 397 AF&AM in Salina, Kansas, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Greensboro and a member of Amran Temple in Raleigh. He was a member of the 100 Million Dollar Club, the Burlington Shrine Club, and a former member of the Amran Motor Patrol. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10607, Robert Lee Pate III Post, and a member of the Burlington American Legion Post 63. He was a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge 649 and Moose Legion 158.
Survivors include one brother, Mr. Edward 'Eddie' McQueen of Burlington, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Walter McQueen.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Robert M. Disher Jr., pastor of St. Mark's Reformed Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 this evening and at other times at the home of Mr. Eddie McQueen and Mrs. Carol McQueen, 2216 Delaney Drive, Burlington.

Mrs. Ruby S. Holland
GIBSONVILLE - Mrs. Ruby Grace Setzer Holland, 86, of 6369 Osceola-Ossipee Road, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at Burlington Care Center after several years of failing health.
A native of Lenoir, she was the wife of the late Mr. Everette Carroll Holland, and the daughter of Mr. Ralph Newton Setzer and Mrs. Martha Benfield Setzer, both deceased. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Gastonia.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Doris Houston of Asheville and Mrs. Carolyn C. Myers of Gibsonville; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Kirby Setzer of Drexel, Mrs. Thelma Coffey of Morganton and Mrs. Orabelle Tilley of Lenoir; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Ms. Josephine Totten
ELON COLLEGE - Ms. Josephine Williams Totten, evangelist, 71, of 210 Ball Park Ave., died Thursday, March 26, 1998, at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, N.Y., after an illness of one year.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Mr. Ed Williams and Mrs. Elizabeth Poole Williams, both deceased. She was a member and the former pastor of New Life Faith For All People in Caswell County.
Survivors include a foster son, Mr. Darrell Reed Yancey of Elon College.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Elon College by the Rev. Clarence Wall, pastor, and the Rev. Harold Farr, pastor of New Life Faith for All People. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. Charlie Bigelow
NORWALK, Conn. - Mr. Charlie W. Bigelow, 71, of Norwalk, died Monday, March 30, 1998, in Norwalk Hospital.
Born Dec. 30, 1926, in Burlington, he was the husband of Mrs. Helen Tate Bigelow, who survives, and the son of Mr. Cheeseman Bigelow and Mrs. Effie Malone Bigelow, both deceased. He had lived in Norwalk for the past 37 years. He was the retired owner of a Mobil Station in Norwalk. Before that he worked as a washman for National Engineering. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Norwalk, where he was a member of the deacon board and the Men's Club.
Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Mr. Harold Bigelow of Florida and Mr. Larry Bigelow of Norwalk; a daughter, Ms. Roxie Anne Bigelow of Norwalk; a brother, Mr. Roy Bigelow of Burlington; a sister, Ms. Mattie Moore of Burlington; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. George Monts, pastor.
