Mrs. Lorine Grogan
GREENSBORO - Mrs. Lorine Lowe Grogan, 67, of 5257 Sweetwater Court, died Thursday, April 2, 1998.
She was the wife for 47 years of Mr. Ray Grogan, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Jason Lowe and Mrs. Maude Lowe, both deceased. She was employed by Town and Country Interiors in Greensboro for more than 40 years. She was an active member of Community Fellowship Church in Greensboro.
Survivors other than her husband include a daughter, Mrs. Don (Deborah Grogan) Stoneman of High Point; two sons, Mr. Daniel R. Grogan of Eden and Mr. James Randall Grogan of Climax; five sisters, Ms. Dorothy Hardy and Ms. Geneva Clapp, both of Elon College, Ms. Leo Wood of Burlington, Ms. Audrey Barham of Browns Summit and Ms. Becky Barber of Altamahaw; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Jo Ann Kernodle.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Community Fellowship Church. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park.
The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Street Chapel from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Bertha M. Turner
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Bertha Mae Miles Turner, 80, of 1216 Macon St., died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. John P. Turner Sr., and the daughter of Mr. Walter Miles and Mrs. Rosa Richmond Miles, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Union Chapel United Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Missionary Circle, Pastor's Aide, Senior Choir, and was financial secretary.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. John Turner Jr. of Graham and Mr. Kenneth Ronald Turner of Greensboro; a daughter, Ms. Hazel Mae Turner of the home; a sister, Mrs. Flossie Graves of Greensboro; and a brother, Mr. Calvin Miles of Burlington; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Walter C. Turner; and a sister, Mrs. Maggie Sellars.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Union Chapel United Church of Christ by the Rev. Ervin E. Milton, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 45 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Sharpe Memorial Chapel from 6 to 7 Saturday evening, and at other times at the home.
Mrs. Ella E. Stephens
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Ella Elsie Stephens, 80, of 807 Short St., died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Jolly Stephens, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Allen Henry Dixon and Mrs. Mannie Williams Dixon, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church on Apple Street. She was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Pioneer Flower Garden Club, a Den Mother and a member of Missionary No. 2.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include three sons, Mr. Jolly Stephens Jr. of Savannah, Ga., Mr. Dexter Stephens of Henderson and Mr. Gerald Stephens of Burlington; two sisters, Ms. Norma Stephens of Berkeley, Calif. and Ms. Fail Stephens of Mount Laurel, N.J.; one sister, Ms. Martha Dixon of Burlington; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church on Apple Street by Dr. R.W. Styles, pastor. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
Viewing will be at Sharpe Funeral Home Chapel after 2 p.m. Saturday. The family will be at the home.
Mr. Robert L. Loy
GREENSBORO - Mr. Robert Lee Loy, 76, of Greensboro, died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
A native of Burlington, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Nannie Ruth Kernodle Loy and the late Mrs. Willow Frances Grady Loy. He was the son of Mr. Andrew Loy and Mrs. Dora Moreve Loy, both deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Phyllis Joann Paschal of Gibsonville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. James Loy.
The graveside service was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Ms. Donia M. Shepherd
BRYSON CITY - Ms. Donia Barnl McLean Shepherd, 78, of the Shepherds Creek Community, died Friday, April 10, 1998, in a Swain County health care facility.
A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of Mr. Charlie C. McLean and Mrs. Docia Nichols McLean, both deceased. She attended Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Nina S. Moore of Porth, Wales; a son, Mr. Raymond Searcy of Graham; a brother, Mr. Ralph McLean of Franklin; four sisters, Ms. Loretta Dalrymple of Franklin, Ms. Fannie Blankenship of North Bend, Wash., and Ms. Eva Burns and Ms. Ethel McLean, both of Bryson City; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Victory Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Harris. Burial was in Swain Memorial Park.

Mr. Joseph D. Medley
GRAHAM - Mr. Joseph 'Joey' Dwayne Medley, 21, of Brown's Trailer Park, Lot 4, N.C. 54, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Davene Byrum Medley, who survives, and the son of Mr. Billy Wayne Medley of Haw River and Ms. Lois Jean Horner Shumaker of Burlington, who both survive. He was employed by William Ray King Construction Co., and was a Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and his parents include one son, Mr. Michael Shane Medley of the home; one stepdaughter, Miss Harley Byrum of Graham; a stepfather, Mr. William Ray King of Prospect Hill; paternal grandparents, Mr. Robert Medley and Mrs. Marie Medley of Elon College; one stepsister, Mrs. Jennifer King Wilkerson of Haw River; and one stepbrother, Mr. Randall Russell King of Snow Camp.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Mr. Harvey Horner and Mrs. Francis Edwards Horner; and a sister, Miss Teresa Lynn Medley.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakwood cemetery in Mebane by the Rev. Bob Stephenson, pastor of Glen Hope Baptist Church.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 Tuesday evening and at other times at the home of an aunt, Ms. Lynn Fuller, 814 Grace Ave., Burlington.
Mr. Charles R. Terrell
MICHIGAN CENTER, Mich. - Mr. Charles Robert 'Shike' Terrell, 61, of Leoni Township, died Monday, April 13, 1998.
Born March 7, 1937, in Burlington, he was the husband of Mrs. Yvonne Terrell, who survives, and the son of Mr. Chester Lee Terrell, who survives, and the late Mrs. Lucy L. Freeman Terrell. He was a self-employed concrete finisher and was a member of Michigan Center Eagles Aerie No. 3634.
Survivors other than his wife and father of North Carolina include three sons, Mr. Larry L. Terrell, Mr. Charles Robert Terrell Jr., and Mr. Tracy Michael Terrell, all of Jackson, Mich.; three daughters, Ms. Tammy Jo Terrell Rowley, Ms. Kristy Lynn Rentschler and Ms. Susan Yvonne Terrell, all of Jackson; his stepmother, Mrs. Edith Terrell of North Carolina; eight brothers; six sisters; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Allen Terrell.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Nichols-Arthur Funeral Home in Michigan Center by Pastor Gene G. Gephart. Burial will be in Leoni Cemetery.
The visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. John C. Tysor
BURLINGTON - Mr. John Cullom Tysor, 69, of 300 Harden St., Burlington, died at 10:26 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 1998, at his home after 41/2 years failing health.
A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of Mrs. Joretta T. Tysor, who survives, and the son of Mr. Hiram Chapin Tysor and Mrs. Mary Cullom Tysor, both deceased. He was a retired revenue officer for the N.C. Department of Revenue. He was a Mason and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Mr. C. Reid Tysor of Hightowers and Mr. Michael J. Tysor of Bear Creek; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by Dr. Howard Thompson, pastor of Burlington Assembly of God. Burial will be in May's Chapel Baptist Church cemetery in Chatham County.

Mrs. Nancy P. Whitesell
RANDLEMAN - Mrs. Nancy Ann Pruitt Whitesell, 78, of 10929 Randleman Road, died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
A native of Chatham, Va., she was the wife Mr. Robert Lee Whitesell, who survives. She was a retired seamstress and textile worker. She was a member of Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church in Randleman.
Survivors other than her husband of Randleman include a son, Mr. Robert P. Watson of Greensboro; two brothers, Mr. Ennis Pruitt and Mr. Dennis Pruitt, both of Greensboro; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and relatives in the Burlington area.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Hamlyn. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.
The family will be at the home.

REIDSVILLE - Ms. Cynthia 'Cindy' Lea Pritchett, 44, of 1348 N.C. 150 West, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Bowman Gray / Baptist Hospital Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A native of Pittsylvania County, Va., she was the daughter of Ms. Geraldine 'Jerri' Burgess Bradner and Mr. James Robert 'Bobby' Pritchett, who both survive. She lived most of her life in Rockingham County. She was an employee of LabCorp in Burlington and was a member of Lowes United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than her mother of the home and father of Charlotte include three sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Ann P.) Small, Mrs. Danny (Debra P.) Dallas, and Mrs. Mike (Tamesia 'Tammy' P.) Niemczura, all of Reidsville; and a brother, Mr. Jay Pritchett of Apex.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lowes United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bret Cogan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Howard A. Lilly
HENDERSONVILLE - Mr. Howard A. Lilly, 91, of Cardinal Care Center, died Monday, April 13, 1998.
A native of Randolph County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ruth Maynard Lilly, who survives, and the son of Mr. John D. Lilly Sr. and Mrs. Pearle Auman Lilly, both deceased. He was a former resident of Tampa, Fla., and Clearwater Fla., where he was a senior vice-president of Tampa Armature Works and Turner Electric Works at Jacksonville, Fla. He served as the chairman of the United Way of Hillsborough County in Florida and was a former president of Southeastern Association of Manufacturers. He was a graduate of LaSalle University in Chicago. Before moving to Florida, he was employed by Pilot Life Insurance Company in Greensboro. He was a member of Palmacia Methodist Church in Tampa. He was a member of Tampa Downtown Kiwanis Club with 27 years of perfect attendance.
Survivors other than his wife of Hendersonville include a sister, Mrs. Paul (Francis L.) Auman of Asheboro; a brother, Mr. Robert J. Lilly of Burling/-ton; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3771 Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem.
