Mr. Billy M. Gordon
BURLINGTON - Mr. Billy M. Gordon, 76, of 2051 Hatchery Road, died at 7:55 p.m. Friday, April 17, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a serious illness of three months.
A native of Union County, he was the son of Mr. Charles Baxter Gordon and Mrs. Minnie Keziah Gordon, both deceased. He was a graduate of Wake Forest University. He was a retired automobile dealer and was a Baptist minister for 17 years. He was a Mason and a member of Riverside Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Sharon Terrell of Liberty, Ms. Marlene Gordon of Greensboro and Mrs. Deveta Glenn of Gastonia; two brothers, Mr. Charles Baxter Gordon Jr. and Mr. Yates Gordon, both of Monroe; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Curtis Oakley. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 4 to 6 this afternoon.

MEBANE - Mr. Lester Mosley, 69, of 2910 Calloway Drive, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at his home.

Mrs. Jody B. Lassiter
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Jody Boswell Lassiter, 41, of 1919 Barbee St., died Friday, April 17, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a long illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Hulon Albert Lassiter, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. C. Boyd Boswell and Mrs. Alice Hudson Boswell, who both survive. She was a registered nurse and had a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and parents of Burlington include a son, Mr. Christopher Zane Lassiter of the home; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Vallie B. Hudson of Kimesville; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Tammy L. Hykes of Clarksville, Va., Mrs. Brandy Nicole Laster and Mrs. Teresa L. Shatterly, both of Graham; two stepsons, Mr. Terry A. Lassiter of Burlington and Mr. Timothy S. Lassiter of Mebane; and seven step grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at McCray's Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Wallis Smith and the Rev. Bruce Readling. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Frank W. Price Sr.
BURLINGTON - Mr. Frank W. Price Sr., 83, of 2219 Wiggins St., died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, April 17, 1998, at 707 Washington St., Graham.
A native of Caldwell County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Mary Lee Tolbert Price, and the son of Mr. Thomas Price and Mrs. Ester Anderson Price, both deceased. He was a weaver for Burlington Industries and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a sister, Miss Virginia Price of Saw Mills; and four brothers, Mr. John Price and Mr. Riley Price, both of Rhodhiss, Mr. Brodie Price of Lenoir, and Mr. Jack Price of Statesville.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Willis; a son, Mr. Frank Wesley Price Jr.; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Powell Sykes, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Nelson Puffenbarger.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 12:45 to 1:45 Monday afternoon, and at other times at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Nina Sheffield, 707 Washington St., Graham.

Ms. Mollie W. Truitt
REIDSVILLE - Ms. Mollie Wright Truitt, 96, of Reidsville, died Friday evening, April 17, 1998, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital.
Born in 1901 in Caswell County, she was the daughter of Mr. James Wright and Mrs. Betty Simpson Wright, both deceased. She was a homemaker and was the oldest member of Penn Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Nancy Carter and Ms. Betty Dixon, both of Greensboro; two sons, Mr. Bobby Truitt of Reidsville and Mr. Harold Truitt of Greensboro; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Reidlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruby H. Lane
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Ruby Lee Horton Lane, 64, of 2463 N. Church St., Lot 47, died at 2 p.m. Friday, April 17, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after six weeks of failing health, one day critical.
A native of Franklin County, she was the daughter of Mr. Robert Lee Horton and Mrs. Henrietta Denton Horton, both deceased. She was a textile employee and was a Baptist.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Shambley and Mrs. Carol Duggins, both of Burlington, Mrs. Barbara Bullard of Roanoke Rapids, and Mrs. Patricia Ferrell of Graham; a son, Mr. James Bullard of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Roosevelt Horton of Louisburg; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Bellemont United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Stephen Smith.

Mr. Carmine J. Manuli
MEBANE - Mr. Carmine Joseph Manuli, 86, of 2801 Hawkhill Farm Road, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at his home.
Born Dec. 29, 1911 in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the husband of the late Mrs. Rose Carmela Manuli, and the son of Mr. Phillip Manuli and Mrs. Josephine Manuli, both deceased. He was employed by Fine Shoes Inc., and was a Catholic.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Philip Manuli of the home and Mr. Joseph Manuli of Yonkers; four sisters, Ms. Caroline Chairo, Ms. Rose Guilliano, Ms. Grace Hunter and Ms. Edith Savistano, all of Yonkers; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oakwood cemetery by the Rev. Michael Lorentsen.

Mr. John N. Thompson
REIDSVILLE - Mr. John Nicholas Thompson, 74, of 11097 N.C. 150 East, died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reidsville.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Faye Taylor Thompson, who survives, and the late Mrs. Margaret Graham Thompson. He was the son of Mr. Azariah Graves Thompson and Mrs. Lula Belle Stephens Thompson. He was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School and attended N.C. State University. He was a member of the Yanceyville Rotary Club and was active in the Historical Society of Caswell County. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an agricultural chemical distributor retired form Cardinal Chemical Company in Greensboro. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Greensboro.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. John (Margaret) Anderson of Raleigh; a son, Mr. John N. Thompson Jr. of Greensboro; four stepdaughters, Ms. Lisa Mady of Florence, S.C., Ms. Michele Barker of Winston-Salem, Ms. Kathryn Edmondson of Apex and Ms. Jennifer Gore of Fayetteville; two sisters, Ms. Ella Hobbs of Blacksburg, Va., and Ms. Nancy Crater of Burlington; two brothers, Mr. Azariah G. Thompson Jr. of Lincolnton and Mr. Lawrence Thompson of Bonita Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren; and five step grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Hooper Funeral Home Chapel in Yanceyville. Burial will be in Leasburg Community Cemetery.
The family will be at the chapel 30 minutes before the service and at other times at the home.

Ms. Shirley N. Cobb
EFLAND - Ms. Shirley Nell Cobb, 62, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at Burlington Hospice Home.
Born Jan. 14, 1936, in Orange County, she was the daughter of Mr. James Earl McCulley and Mrs. Lela McDade McCulley, both deceased. She attended Orange County schools and was employed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for 16 years. She was a member of McCoy's Temple.
Survivors include five daughters, Ms. LaVerne McAdoo and Ms. Bridgett Cobb, both of Efland, Ms. Cara Snipes and Ms. Sandra Croaker, both of Mebane, and Sharon McAdoo of Hillsborough; four sisters, Ms. Louise McCulley, Ms. Dorothy Anderson and Ms. Jo Ann McAdoo, all of Efland, and Ms. Pricilla Murphy of Pennsylvania; a brother, James Earl McCulley Jr. of Mebane; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at McCoy's Temple Holy Church in Efland by Rev. Walter Thorton. Burial in Gaines Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Annie L. Lewis
GREENSBORO - Mrs. Annie L. Lewis, 72, of 4626 Burlington Road, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
She was retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company and was a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Jackie L. May of Greensboro; two sisters, Ms. Sally Ezzell of McLeansville and Ms. Elizabeth Christopher of Burlington; a brother, Mr. James Lipscomb of Haw River; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Janet T. Hobbs
CABOT, Vt. - Mrs. Janet Virginia Thompson Hobbs, 68, of Cabot, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 1998, at her home after a five-year illness.
Born March 14, 1930 in Plainfield, Vt., she was the wife of Mr. John T. Hobbs Jr., who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Herbert Dalton Thompson and Mrs. Grace Swan Thompson, both deceased. She attended public schools in Cabot and Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School. She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served two years at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. She was discharged in 1951 with the rank of sergeant. She accompanied her husband on overseas military assignments to England, West Germany, and various state assignments, including 12 years in Fayetteville before retiring to Cabot. She was a member of the United Church of Cabot and the Cabot Dem. [McClure does not know what 'Dem.' is; info from out of town]
Survivors other than her husband of the home include one son, Mr. Gary Robert Hobbs of Collinsville, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood cemetery in Mebane by Elmer Hobbs.

Mr. Bernice N. Riley
YANCEYVILLE - Mr. Bernice Norman Riley, 81, of 1063 Rudd Ridge Road, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Born March 28, 1917 in Orange County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Catherine Rudd Riley and the son of Mr. Crawford Riley and Mrs. Mary G. Riley. He was a farmer and was retired from White Furniture Co. He attended Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Roy Lee Riley of Yanceyville and Mr. Herman Bernice Riley of Mebane; one brother, Mr. Winford Riley of Burlington; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Gus Riley.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Wallis Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
