Mrs. Evelyn B. Smith

GRAHAM - Mrs. Evelyn Ray Boone Smith, 81, of 4428-M Cedar Cliff Road, died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at her home after three months of failing health.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Curtis Astor Smith Sr., and the daughter of Mr. T.N. Boone Sr. and Mrs. Addie Vera Ray Boone, both deceased. She was a retired educator. She attended Broad Street School, Burlington High School, Elon College and Greensboro College. She taught school in Orlando and Jacksonville, Fla. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Lee Smith of Delray Beach, Fla., Mrs. Neda Ray Thurmond of Denver and Mrs. Ellen Fenster of Melbourne, Fla.; one son, Mr. Curtis A. Smith Jr. of Greensboro; one brother, Mr. T.N. Boone Jr. of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Larry Patrick and the Rev. Sandra "Rose" Conner.

There will be no visitation. The family will be at the home.

McClure Funeral Home in Graham is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ethel W. Parker

HILLSBOROUGH - Mrs. Ethel Roosevelt Wilson Parker, 89, of 405 Mace Road, Mebane, died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at her home.

A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Iley H. Parker, and a lifetime member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Ms. Christine Woods of Charlotte, Ms. Mary Gravitte of Timberlake and Ms. Geraldine Lunsford of Hurdle Mills; one brother, Mr. Eugene Wilson of Durham; one sister, Ms. Ida Mangum of Florida; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Walnut Grove United Methodist church by the Rev. Mike Sykes. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Walker's Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.

Mr. Vance Huneycutt

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Mr. Vance Efird Huneycutt, 55, of 108 Babbs Hollow, died at 5:46 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.

Born Aug. 29, 1942 in Stanly County, he was the husband of Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Hudson Huneycutt who survives, and the son of Mrs. Mary Ross of Winston-Salem, and the late Mr. Vance E. Huneycutt. He was president of Infomin Textiles. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Albemarle, but attended First Presbyterian Church of Greenville.

Survivors other than his wife of the home and his mother include one daughter, Miss Jean Elizabeth Huneycutt of Charleston, S.C.; one son, Mr. Vance E. Huneycutt III of Mentone, Ala.; one brother, Mr. Charles Holt Huneycutt of Winston-Salem; and one sister, Mrs. Helen Huneycutt Whitcomb of London.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Albermarle by the Rev. Gus Feathers. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the church parlor. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park.

Mr. Winfred E. Tilley

HAW RIVER - Mr. Winfred Ervin "Pop" Tilley, 76, of 612 E. Main St., died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 15, 1998, at his home after two and a half years of failing health, one month critical.

A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Betty Best Tilley, who survives, and the son of Mr. Garfield Tilley and Mrs. Mary Silmon Tilley, both deceased. He was retired from Cone Mills Tabardrey Plant.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Amy Tilley Wallace of Haw River and Mrs. Tara Tilley Cazillaz of Saxapahaw; four sons, Mr. Gary Wayne Tilley of Haw River, Mr. Chris Tilley of Burlington, Mr. Delmar Tilley of Altamahaw and Mr. W.L. Tilley of High Point; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five great-step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Ballard Maness.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. W.D. Allison.

The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 5:30 to 7 Thursday evening, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, P.O. Box 2122, Burlington, N.C. 27216-2122; or to a charity of choice.

Mrs. Eva M. Slade

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Eva Michael Slade, 91, of 2547 Altamahaw-Union Ridge Road, died at 6 a.m. Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Alamance Health Care Center after several years of failing health.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Marvin Slade Sr., and the daughter of Mr. John M. Michael and Mrs. Mary Brannock Michael, both deceased. She was a member of Clover Garden AME Church, where she was a former member of the Senior Choir, the Missionary Department and the Stewardess Board.

Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Marie Slade of Elon College and Ms. Wilma Slade of Burlington; a son, Mr. Marvin Slade Jr. of the home; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Clover Garden AME Church by the Rev. Frank Saunders, pastor, and the Rev. Robert L. Goode. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the church one hour before the service, and at other times at the home of Ms. Marie Slade, 2741 Springfield Drive, Elon College.

Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ron Robinette

GREENSBORO - Mr. Ron Robinette, 44, of 7626 Royster Road, died Friday, June 12, 1998, at his home.

A native of Greensboro he was the husband of Mrs. Sandra Heaton Robinette, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Alta Shepard Robinette, who survives, and the late Mr. Ronald Newell Robinette. He was a maintenance associate for Farr Associates Inc.

Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Burlington include a son, Mr. Ronald Kris Robinette of Rota, Spain; one brother, Mr. Kimball Robinette of South Carolina; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at Fellowship Presbyterian Church.

Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Basheshar Khanna

MEBANE - Mr. Basheshar Nath Khanna, 85, of 140 Welsford Place, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at the Hospice Home after six months of failing health.

A native of Chaniot, India, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Kaushalia Kapoor Khanna, and the son of Mr. Lachman Dass Khanna and Mrs. Mathura Kapoor Khanna, both deceased. He was a retired social service clerk with South Carolina. He was a member of Radha Swamt in Fayetteville.

Survivors include three sons, Mr. Ramesh Khanna of Chanthilly, Va., Mr. Sant Khanna of Mebane and Mr. Ram Khanna of Germantown, Md.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Shanti Kapoor; and one brother, Mr. Moti Ram Khanna.

The last rites were Wednesday.<

Mrs. Joyce C. Dalton

GIBSONVILLE - Mrs. Joyce Crider Dalton, 63, of 2014 Colony Road, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

A native of Pittsylvania County, Va., she was the wife of Mr. Fred L. Dalton, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Lawson E. Crider and Mrs. Eunice Eanes Crider, both deceased. She was retired from Allen Bradley Company and was a member of McLeansville Baptist Church.

Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Cindy) Snyder of Gibsonville; four brothers, Mr. Howard Crider, Mr. Buster Crider and Mr. Arthur Crider, all of Browns Summit, and Mr. Buddy Crider of McLeansville; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at McLeansville Baptist Church by Dr. Jack Lemons, pastor. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to McLeansville Baptist Church, 5205 Frieden's Church Road, McLeansville, N.C. 27301.

Mr. Nathaniel Evans

BURLINGTON - Mr. Nathaniel Cleo Evans, 66, of 233 Hooker St., died Friday, June 12, 1998, at his home after a short illness.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Nathaniel Lathan and Ms. Odell Evans, both deceased. He was a laborer.

Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Vanessa E. Johnson and Mrs. Valeria C. McQuinn, both of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Harris of Burlington; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be followed by a memorial service at a later date.

Burrus and Burrus Funeral Services Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Marie Robinson

GRAHAM - Miss Marie Louise Robinson, 17, of 1021 Appleblossom Lane, Green Level, died at 4 a.m. Monday, June 15, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident.

A native of Avery County, she was the daughter of Mr. Robert E. Lee Robinson and Mrs. Annette Vance Robinson, who both survive.

Survivors other than her mother of Graham and father of West Jefferson include a daughter, Miss Kiana Renee Taylor of the home; two sisters, Miss Mary Katherine Robinson and Miss April Lee Smith, both of Green Level; a brother, Mr. Jacob Edgar Smith of Green Level; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Maxine Johnson of Green Level; and paternal grandparents, Mr. Raymond Robinson and Mrs. Trulia Rebecca Robinson, both of West Jefferson.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Baptist Church in West Jefferson by the Rev. Garrett MaHaffey. Burial will in the Daniels Cemetery.

The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 Thursday evening, and at the church two hours before the service. At other times the family will be at the home.

Mrs. Edna H. Ritchie

SALISBURY - Mrs. Edna Hinson Ritchie, 78, died at 8:32 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Born March 31, 1920, in Stanly County, she was the wife of Mr. Wright Monroe Ritchie, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Jason Lee Hinson and Mrs. Rosa Clementine Eudy Hinson, both deceased. She was educated in Stanly County School, was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors other than her husband of the home include two sons, Mr. Charles Wright of Fayetteville and Mr. Van Allen Wright of the home; two daughters, Ms. Lori Brault of Wilmington and Ms. Ann Collins of Salisbury, formerly of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Horace Ritchie of Concord; a sister, Ms. Nell Barringer of Gold Hill; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Craig Edwards, pastor, and the Rev. Chris Haizlip. Burial will be in Rowan Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 830 Choate Road, Salisbury, N.C. 28146.
