CHAPEL HILL Mr. Donnie Wilson Dawson, 67, of 1015 Dawson Road, died at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center after five years of failing health, 10 days critical.
A native of Orange County, he was the husband of Mrs. Joyce Zachary Dawson, and the son of Mr. Arthur Dawson and Mrs. Elsie Wilson Dawson, both deceased. He was retired from the University of North Carolina Printing Department. He was a member of Clover Garden United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Ms. Kay Dawson Rogers of Chapel Hill and Mrs. Terry Zachary Bartelme of Modesto, Calif; a son, Mr. Danny M. Dawson of Chapel Hill; a sister, Mrs. Elise Dodson of Chapel Hill; a brother, Mr. Darrell Dawson of Swansboro; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death be a grandchild.

Mr. Ernest Faulkner
BURLINGTON Mr. Ernest Deuvoy Faulkner, 77, of 1870 Dixon Pool Road, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at his home after three years of failing health, five days critical. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs.Clara A. Faulkner, who survives, and the son of Mr.Walter J. Faulkner and Mrs. Wilma Sumner Faulkner, both deceased. He worked for Burlington for 36 years and retired from Copland Fabrics as a security guard. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a Baptist. Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Carol F. Prather of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Dell Chambers and Mrs. Edith Berry, both of Burlington; three brothers, Mr. Donald Faulkner, Mr. John Faulkner and Mr. James Faulkner, all of Burlington; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Josephine Brown. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bennie Smith, pastor of Staley Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home of the daughter, 1949 Dixon Pool Road, Burlington.
Mr. John McCauley Sr.
BURLINGTON Mr. John Walter McCauley Sr., 70, of 6630 N.C. 62 North, died at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 1998, at his home after six months of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. John F. McCauley and Mrs. Blanche Steele McCauley, both deceased. He retired from the Burlington Police Department after 27 years of service. He was a 1944 graduate of Pleasant Grove High School. He attended the University of Georgia and the University of North Carolina, where he studied Advanced Law Enforcement. He was a member of the Tri-County Hunting Club and the Tri-County Beagle Club. Survivors include a son, Mr. John Walter McCauley Jr. of Greenville; a sister, Mrs. Anne McCauley Cook of Mebane; and two step grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Max Allman, the Rev. John Settlemyre and the Rev. Phil Hardy. Burial will be in Long's Chapel United Church of Christ cemetery. GRAHAM Mr. Arnold Harvey Qualls, 89, of 411 N. Marshall St., died at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health, three days critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Dolores 'Dolly ' Moore Qualls, and the son of Mr. William Qualls and Mrs. Georgia Russell Qualls, both deceased. He was a retired from Cannon Mills and was a member of First Baptist Church of Graham.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William M. (Eva) Stockard of Eden; and two grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today at Linwood cemetery by Dr. Paul Lane, pastor of First Baptist Church of Graham. BURLINGTON Mr. Bobby Eugene Crawford, 58, of 2472 Churchill Drive, died Wednesday evening, June 17, 1998, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem after a sudden
illness. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Oscar Lee Crawford and Mrs. Vera Dodson Crawford, both deceased. He was a retired school teacher and a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mary Crawford Bradshaw

A native of Pickens County, S.C., she was the wife of the late Mr. Wade Hampton Moore, and the daughter of Mr. Alexander Hawkins and Mrs. Lou Holcombe Hawkins, both deceased. She was a homemaker, and formerly attended Piedmont Baptist church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Audrey M. Dorsett of Burlington and Mrs. Linda M.Lowry of Simpsonville, S.C.; a

BURLINGTON Mr. Johnny Ray Testerman, 46, of 207 Courtland Terrace, Burlington, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Granville County Medical Center. A native of Johnson County, he was the husband of Mrs.Teresa Chesbro Testerman, andthe son of Mrs. Eunice Fowler Testerman, who survives, and the late Mr. James Herman Testerman Sr. He was a construction worker and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Burlington Assembly of God. REIDSVILLE Mr. Thomas Wayne Wright Sr., 57, of 1074 Woolen Store Road, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Annie Penn Hospital. A native of Rockingham County, he was the husband of Mrs. Marion Rumley Wright, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Ora Knight Wright, who survives, and the late Mr. William Connie Wright. He was a retired detective with the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department, serving from 1976 to 1997. He established the Teen Court in Rockingham County in 1994, and was one of only two people in the State of North Carolina to receive a lifetime membership with the School Resource Officers. He received the Governor's Award for Bravery and Heroism and his degree from the N.C. Justice Academy for Criminal Investigations. He was a member of Jefferson Penn Masonic Lodge No. 384 AF&AM and of Fairview Baptist Church. Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Reidsville include two daughters, Mrs. Craig (Lorie Wright) Pyrtle and Mrs. Calvin (Deborah Wright) Southard, both of Reidsville; a son, Mr. Thomas Wayne Wright Jr. of Reidsville; two stepsons, Mr. Randy Everett Brown of Elon College and Mr. John Edward Brown of Reidsville; three sisters, Mrs. George Walter (Rebecca Wright) Johnson of Ruffin, Mrs. Steve Morris (Marie Wright) Dixon of Summerfield and Mrs. Larry Keith (Martha Wright) Stultz of Eden; two grandchildren; and two step grandchildren. Born May 17, 1909, she was the daughter of Mr. Daniel R. Hughes and Mrs. Margaret McIntyre Hughes, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Griers Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Annette S. McDuffie of Leasburg; a son, Mr. Charles D. ELON COLLEGE Mrs. Bertie Lowe Gaster, 83, of 3208 Osceola Road, died at 1:15 p.m. Friday, June 19, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. A native of Wilkes County, she was the wife of Mr. Archie Pearlie Gaster, who died in 1984, and the daughter of Mr. William Gordon Lowe and Mrs. Minnie Stamey Lowe, both deceased. She owned and operated Hub Beauty Shop in the Altamahaw-Ossipee Community for 59 years and retired in 1996. She was a member of Moravian Falls Baptist Church in Wilkes County. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Gordon Gaster of the home; and a son, Mr. Archie Dillon Gaster of Greenville. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ms. Winnie Lowe, Ms. Esther Pearson and Ms. Atta Walsh; and two brothers, Mr. Herman Lowe and Mr. Muncie Lowe. She was the wife of the late Mr. James Joseph Sears, and the daughter of Mr. George Ammons Todd and Mrs. Anna Hollis Todd, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Jeanne Johnson and Ms. Barbara Yaeger, both of Burlington; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Maynard Todd and Mr. George Todd, and a grandchild.
