Mrs. Hilda L. Peele
MIDDLESEX Mrs. Hilda Lowe Peele, 48, of 11864 N.C. 222 West, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Mr. Edward Ruben Peele, who survives. She was night supervisor at Mike's Amaco in Knightdale for many years. Survivors other than her husband include a brother, Mr.Luther Lowe of Gibsonville; and a sister, Mrs. Lonnie (Evelyn) Walker of Gibsonville. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Johnston County. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory in Knightdale from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to a hospice organization of choice.
Mr. Clayton Cranford
GREENSBORO Mr. Clayton Eston Cranford, 22, of 1731 Youngs Mill Road, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 18, 1975, in Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Jennifer Baldwin Cranford, who survives, and the son of Mr. Jack Cranford and Mrs. Tula Staley Cranford, who both survive. He had lived most of his life in Guilford County and was employed with BellSouth, where he served as a union steward. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Survivors other than his wife and parents of Gibsonville include a daughter, Miss Alivia Cranford of the home; two sisters, Ms. Shirley Maines of McLeansville and Ms. Jackie Shultz of Atlanta; two brothers, Mr. Jerry Davis of Ruby, S.C., and Mr. Sonny Cranford of Whiteville; and a grandmother, Ms. Thelma Staley. He was preceded in death by brother, Mr. Junior Cranford. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel by the Rev. Joe Chandler. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery. The family will be at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 this evening, and at other times at 1625 Oakleigh Road, McLeansville. Mrs. Odell B. Kenney
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Odell Boggs Kenney, 88, a resident of Hawfields Presbyterian Home died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, June 19, 1998, at her home after a long illness. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. George Earl Kenney, and the daughter of Mr. Jule Oscar Boggs and Mrs. Cora Dawson Kenney, both deceased. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mrs. Gracie Snotherly, Mrs. Marie Hall, Mrs. Ruby Smith, Mrs. Zelma Cole and Mrs. Wilma Fitzgerald; and a brother, Mr. Lewis Kenney. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Pine Hill cemetery by the Rev. John Hobbs, pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary one hour before the service.
Mr. Thomas Newlin Sr.
HAW RIVER - Mr. Thomas Vernon Newlin Sr., 70, of 720 Roxboro St., died at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 1998, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C., after a sudden illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Jeanette Zimmerman Newlin, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Velna Roberson Newlin, who survives, and the late Mr. Garland Moore Newlin. He was a dairy farmer and director of Alamance Farmer's Mutual Insurance Company. He attended Burlington Assembly of God.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Haw River include a daughter, Mrs. Elton (Linda) Parker of Raleigh; a son, Mr. Thomas Vernon Newlin Jr. of Haw River; two sisters, Mrs. Lonnie (Catherine) Mangum of Burlington and Mrs. Ronald Lee (Anne) Wrightenberry of Haw River; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Garland Vance Newlin.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Burlington Assembly of God by Dr. Howard Thompson, pastor, and Dr. Charles Williams, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Burlington. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 thisevening, and at other times at the home.

Mr. George E. Pickett
BURLINGTON - Mr. George E. Pickett, 80, of 2235 Charles Ave., Mebane, died Friday morning, June 26, 1998, at his home after an illness of 10 days. He was a former resident of Trail Two.
A native of Wake County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Geraldine 'Willie' Morgan Pickett, and the son of Mr. Ralph Horton Pickett Sr. and Mrs. Ruth Young Pickett, both deceased. He was retired from Heritage Casket Company. He was a member of First Christian United Church of Christ where he was a deacon.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Curtis (Patricia) Parsons of the home; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Marshburn, and a brother, Mr. Ralph H. Pickett Jr.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by Dr. Robert K. Barrows Jr., pastor of First Christian United Church of Christ, and the Rev. Steve Hinton, pastor of Agape Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mr. James M. Davis
BURLINGTON - Mr. James M. Davis of 1373 Rauhut St., died Thursday morning, June 25, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a critical illness of one month.
A native of Orange County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Odessa Warren Davis, and the son of Mr. Earl Davis and Mrs. Annie Mebane Davis, both deceased. He was a retired plastering contractor.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Annie Davis Pennix of Greensboro and Mrs. Sondra Davis of Burlington; a son, Mr. James C. Davis of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home one hour before the service, and at other times, at the home of Mrs. Sondra Davis, 1424 Grimes St., Burlington.
Mr. Yancey Williams Jr.
STANLEY - Mr. Yancey Clifton Williams Jr., 79, of 5596 Country Lane, died at 9 a.m. Friday, June 26, 1998, at his home after two months of failing health.
A native of Ashe County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Cecile Jordan Williams, and the son of Mr. Yancey Williams Sr. and Mrs. Alice Reading Williams, both deceased. He was retired from Western Electric and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joella W. Johnson of the home and Miss Maureen Williams of Durham; a son, Mr. Bruce C. Williams of Durham; four sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Stuckey of Yaupon Beach, Mrs. Faye Koch of Haw River, and Mrs. Betty Caviness and Mrs. Ruth Smith, both of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Donald A. Williams of Benson; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Charles Miller. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening.

GRAHAM - Mr. James Henry Jeffries, 94, of 616 Ray St., died Friday, June 26, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Caswell County.

Mr. Homer L. Greeson
WHITSETT - Mr. Homer Lee Greeson, 67, of 6178 Thacker Dairy Road, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 17, 1931, in Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Emma Jean Greeson, who survives, and the son of Mr. Oscar Carmie Greeson and Mrs. Ada Ruth Clapp Greeson, both deceased. He was retired from Lorillard Company.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Darrel (Deborah) Harris of Siler City and Mrs. David (Gail) Clontz of Julian; a son, Mr. Ivan Greeson of Julian; two sisters, Ms. Helen Busick and Ms. Modine Friddle, both of Whitsett; a brother, Mr. Dewey Greeson of Julian; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Kenneth Greeson and two brothers, Mr. Wayne Greeson and Mr. Harold Greeson.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at Mount Hope United Church of Christ by Dr. Bill Smith, pastor, the Rev. Lynn Hinton and the Rev. Lee Lane. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Viola H. Miller
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Viola Hall Miller, 94, of 2020 Lower Hopedale Road, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at Alamance Health Care Center after a long illness. A native of Columbia, S.C., she was the wife of the late Mr. Charles B. Miller, and the daughter of Mr. Clarence Edgar Hall and Mrs. Cora Cornelia Funderburk Hall, both deceased. She was a retired textile worker. She was the oldest member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Bishop and Mrs. Norma Talbert, both of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Mitchell, Mrs. Myrtle Smith and Mrs. Leola Goins, all of Burlington; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Clarence Edgar Graham; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia H. Cole, Mrs. Bertha H. Ussery and Mrs. Cora H. Garrison; and three brothers, Mr. Thomas S. Hall, Mr. Colie L. Hall and Mr. Clarence Edgar Hall Jr.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pine Hill cemetery by her nephew, the Rev. Bennie Smith, pastor of Staley Memorial Baptist Church.
The family will be at the home of a granddaughter, Ms. Deborah Talbert Oakley, 905 W. Front St., Burlington, after the graveside service. At other times the family will be at the homes of her daughters, Mrs. Mary Bishop, 417 E. Old Glencoe Road, Burlington, and Mrs. Norma Talbert, 409 E. Old Glencoe Road, Burlington.

Mrs. Faye S. Belcher
GREENVILLE, W.V. - Mrs. Faye S. Belcher, 78, of Greenville, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at a hospital in Princetown, W.V.
Born Feb. 26, 1920, at Red Sulphur Springs, W.V., she was the wife of the late Mr. Otis C. Belcher, and the daughter of Mr. Paris Stanley and Mrs. Arvella Stanley, both deceased. She was a house parent for the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home in Eaton Rapids, Mich. She was a member of the Ladies home Extension Club in Greenville and the A.A.R.P. She attended Peterstown United Methodist Church and Greenville United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Mary Baca and Ms. Rose Mary Smith, both of Charlotte; three sons, Mr. Darrell Belcher of Bluefield, W.V., Mr. Danny Belcher of Burlington and Mr. John Helt of Golden, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ms. Hattie Shanklin, Ms. Pearl Sowers, Ms. Sallie Mann and Ms. Myrtle McGhee; and a brother, Mr. Silas Stanley.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, W.V., by the Rev. Tim Spencer and Mr. Roger Hatfield. Burial will be in Red Sulpher Springs Church cemetery.
