Mr. William M. Allred
GREENSBORO - Mr. William M. Allred, 69, of 5505 Forest Road, died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband for 30 years of Mrs. Nancy Southard Allred, who survives. He was a member of Hunter Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Ms. Laura Coleman of McLeansville and Ms. Tammy Ludovissy of Greensboro; a son, Mr. W. Mark Allred of Sophia; four sisters, Ms. Mary Hall of Archdale, Ms. Pearl Woods and Ms. Juanita Turner, both of Greensboro, and Ms. Florence Alley of Jamestown; two brothers, Mr. Robert Allred of Summerfield and Mr. Howard Allred of Baltimore; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.

Mr. William H. Joyner
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Mr. William Harrison "Billy Noble" Joyner died Sunday, May 31, 1998, after a long illness.
A native of Burlington, he was the husband of Mrs. Yvonne Weathers Joyner, who survives, and the son of Mr. Harold Joyner and Mrs. Frances Noble Joyner, both deceased. He was a security officer and private investigator. He was president of Swingers Ltd., a part-time master of ceremonies at Byrdland Club and part-time salesman for Lindsey-Lexus in Alexandria, Va.
Survivors other than his wife of Washington, D.C., include a son, Mr. Lambert Joyner of Columbia, S.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Alesia Newsome of Xenia, Ohio, Mrs. Adrianne Payne of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Charmaine Carter of Cleveland, Tenn.; a brother, Mr. Joseph Smith; four sisters, Mrs. Eddie Jean Bryant, Ms. Decarol Smith, Mrs. Geamere Smith-Berry and Ms. Sandra Smith; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, Apple Street, by Dr. R.W. Styles, pastor. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The body may be viewed after 3 p.m. Saturday at Sharpe Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Erie M. Smith
REIDSVILLE - Mrs. Erie McKinney Smith, 84, a former resident of 2099 Pagetown Road, died Sunday morning, June 7, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center following a two-month illness.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Clarence Ebenezer Smith. She was a homemaker and a farmer. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Peggy Manring of Reidsville and Ms. Marenda Wilson of Elon College; three brothers, Mr. Melvin McKinney of Anchorage, Ky., Mr. Lee E. McKinney of Danville, Va., and Mr. Stedman McKinney of Reidsville; three sisters, Ms. Marie Hodges and Ms. Arlene Blackwell, both of Ruffin, and Ms. Larvery Hulsey of Carthage; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one step grandchild; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-granchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Mr. Lindsey Smith, Mr. A.B. Smith and Mr. Maynard "Cotton" Smith; one daughter, Ms. Gladys Brown; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Bertram A. West
GRAHAM - Mr. Bertram Adrian "Bert" West, 79, of Box 51, Swepsonville, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, at Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Alamance after two years of failing health and a critical illness of four weeks.
A native of Stanley County, he was the husband of Mrs. Leona "Esther" Keene West who survives, and the son of Mr. Roy B. West and Mrs. Addie Lowder West, both deceased. He was retired from Copland Fabrics and of a Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two stepdaughters, Mrs. Betty Crigger of Mavisvale, Va., and Mrs. Loretta "Jean" Cleghorn of Jasper, Ga.; one stepson, Mr. Robert "Bob" Keene of Graham; one sister, Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) Webb of Burlington; seven step grandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Ms. Phyllis R. Johnson; and three brothers, Mr. John West, Mr. Joe West and Mr. Lamar West.

Mrs. Doris McCracken
SILER CITY - Mrs. Doris Chrismon McCracken, 65, of Mount Vernon Springs, formerly of Sanford, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Malcolm W. McCracken; her mother, Ms. Aubrey P. Chrismon of Elon College; a daughter, Ms. Susan McCracken of Boone; a son, Mr. M. David McCracken of Sanford; and a brother, Mr. Melvin Chrismon of Greensboro.
A graveside service was conducted Saturday at Mount Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church cemetery by the Rev. Jan Clark.

Mr. Edward E. Huff
LEXINGTON - Mr. Edward Eugene Huff, 62, of 110 Westdale Ave., died Saturday, June 27, 1998, at his home after five months of failing health.
Born July 5, 1935, in Lee Center, Ill., he was the husband of Mrs. Barbara McGowan Huff, who survives, and the son of Mr. Glenn Franklin Huff Sr. and Mrs. Fern Clayton Huff, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 82 Air Borne. He was the retired owner and operator of Huff General Contractors. He was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and formerly of Burlington include three sons, Mr. Clinton Wayne Huff, Mr. Bobby Lee Huff and Mr. Raymond Eugene Huff, all of Lexington; a sister, Ms. Nancy Ammons of Asheboro; two brothers, Mr. John Huff of Florida and Mr. Bill Huff of Lexington; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn F. Huff Jr.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by Mr. Wallace Cole, pastor. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home.
Mrs. Katie A. Bethel
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Katie Anderson Bethel of 834 Ross St., died at 12:50 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A native of Randolph County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Morris Omega Bethel, and the daughter of Mr. George Anderson and Mrs. Lena Cunningham Anderson, both deceased. She was a member of St. Matthew's AME Church where she was a member of the Willing Workers' Club.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Plassie A. Peake of Greensboro.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday at St. Matthew's AME Church by the Rev. R.L. Corpening, pastor, and the Rev. R.G. Ferguson. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Josephine Isley
WHITSETT - Mrs. Josephine Greeson Isley, 74, of 2419 Mount Hope Church Road, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at her home.
She was the wife of Mr. Lewis Isley, who survives. She was a member of Mount Hope United Church of Christ.
Survivors other than her husband include a son, Mr. Larry Isley of Whitsett; two brothers, Mr. A.C. Greeson of McLeansville and Mr. Grady Greeson of Whitsett; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope United Church of Christ.
The family will be at Greeson and Neese Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and at other times at the home of the son, 2415 Mount Hope Church Road, Whitsett.
Mrs. Artance Doggett
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Artance Hunter Doggett, 83, a former resident of Hamilton Street, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital after one year of failing health and a critical illness of three weeks.
A native of Durham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Ralph H. Doggett Sr., and the daughter of Mr. Allie Hunter and Mrs. Katie Smith Hunter, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
Survivors include one son, Mr. Ralph Doggett Jr. of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Alliemae York of Mebane; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Miss Nevada Doggett; a sister, Mrs. Georgia Michaels; and a brother, Mr. Maryland Hunter.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Don Carter, pastor of The Baptist Temple. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Rosa Henderson
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Rosa Irene Burgess Henderson, 71, of 111 Maple Ave., died at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after four years of failing health, one day critical.
Born July 7, 1926, in Chatham County, she was the daughter of Mr. Luther Avery Burgess and Mrs. Rosa Irene Burgess, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Felts of Burlington, Mrs. Vicki Webster of Liberty and Mrs. Teresa Smith of Snow Camp; one son, Mr. Gary Henderson of Liberty; two sisters, Mrs. Lessie Hyde of South Carolina and Mrs. Mary Ross of Charlotte; a half sister, Mrs. Fannie Mae Burgess of Hillsborough; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Graham Memorial Park by the Rev. Norman Whitney.
Mr. Daniel B. Squires
PITTSBORO - Mr. Daniel Brian "Danny" Squires, 31, died Friday, June 5, 1998.
He was the husband of Mrs. Rhonda Clark Squires, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Linda S. Atkins, who survives, and the late Mr. Larry Everett Squires. He was a North Carolina State Trooper and attended Emmaus Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife and mother include a son, Mr. Jordan M. Clark; a daughter, Miss Katherine G. Squires; his stepfather, Mr. Bobby G. Atkins; and two brothers, Mr. William J. Squires of Mebane and Mr. Samuel R. King of Graham.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Emmaus Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
