Mr. Norman Perkins
BURLINGTON - Mr. Norman Samuel Perkins, 73, of 2157 S. Gurney St., died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after one year of failing health, 15 days critical.
He was the husband of Mrs. Clara Beal Perkins, who survives.
Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.
Mr. Walter Mansfield
GREENSBORO - Mr. Walter Dailey Mansfield, 89, formerly of Liberty Road, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Wesley Nursing Center in Charlotte.
Born June 19, 1908, in Durham, he was the husband of Mrs. Vista Garrett Mansfield, who died in 1980, and the son of Mr. Henry Mansfield and Mrs. Lillie Shaw Mansfield, both deceased. He had lived in Guilford County since 1945. He was a retired grocer and member of the Buena Vista Lodge International Order of the Odd Fellows for more than 40 years. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Burlington and Mouzon United Methodist Church in Charlotte. He was a former member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Greensboro, where he was active in the Methodist Men, was a youth counselor and member of the administrative board.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Goldston (Ann) Harris of Charlotte; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Charles Mansfield.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Friendship United Methodist Church cemetery.

Cristal Ceja
GRAHAM - Infant Cristal Ceja, of 119 Ivey Road, Apt. E, died at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 1998, at her home.
A native of Orange County, she was the daughter of Mr. Gavino Ceja-Vega and Ms. Noemi Medosa-Jimenez, who both survive.
Survivors other than her parents of the home include maternal grandparents, Mr. Santos Medosa and Ms. Delfina Jimenez of Mexico; and paternal grandparents, Mr. Jesus Ceja and Ms. Martha Vega of Mexico.
A wake service was at 1 p.m. Sunday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Terence Pescatore, OFM Conv., associate pastor of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Alvin Somerville, OFM Conv., pastor of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
The family will be at the home.
Mr. Robert Braxton
SILER CITY - Mr. Robert "R.G." Braxton, 60, of 1201 Poe Road, died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A native of Alamance County, he was a retired service station attendant. He was a member of South Fork Friends Meeting.
Survivors include a son, Mr. Robert Sherman Braxton of Durham; and two sisters, Ms. Delores Braxton and Ms. Bonnie Buie, both of Siler City.
The funeral was Saturday at South Fork Friends Meeting by the Rev. Jon Reece. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Louise Windham
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Louise Isley Windham, 82, of 706 Engleman Ave., died at 2:13 a.m. Friday, June 5, 1998, at Alamance Skilled Nursing after a critical illness of a month.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Virgil M. Windham, and the daughter of Mr. John Richard Isley Sr. and Mrs. Lizzie Bryan Isley, both deceased. She was formerly employed by Plaid Mills and Sellars Department Store and was retired from Western Electric. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Reformed Church, where she was a member of the Keenager Club, the Women of the Church and the Christian Endeavor Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. James (Frances) Johnson of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Una Mahan of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Max G. Isley Sr. of Wilmington; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Mr. Harvie A. Isley, Mr. Howard W. Isley, Mr. J. R. Isley Jr. and Mr. Frank B. Isley.
The funeral was Sunday at St. Mark's Reformed Church by the Rev. Robert M. Disher Jr., senior pastor, and the Rev. Marshall Masser, pastor of First Christian Church in Cahokia, Ill.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Aleane Stewart
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Aleane C. Stewart, 83, of 314 Bradley St., died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 1998, at her home after six months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Coley M. Stewart, and the daughter of Mr. Thomas Caulder and Mrs. Lola Allen Caulder, both deceased. She was retired from Macfield. She was a member of Forest Hills and Burlington Seniors and Grabur Heights Friendship Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Rose Weaver of Graham and Ms. Wilma Stewart Patterson of the home; a son, Mr. William T. Stewart of Media, Pa.; a brother, Mr. Paul Caulder of Graham; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild.
A graveside service was Sunday at Alamance Memorial Park by Dr. Ralph E. Jones Jr., and Mr. William T. Stewart.

Mrs. Fannie Alston
PITTSBORO - Mrs. Fannie Alston, 82, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Carl (Hilder) Graves of Carrboro, Ms. Carolyn Alston of Chapel Hill, Mrs. Jimmy (Jessie Mae) White of Graham and Mrs. Macon (Christine) Marsh of Pittsboro; two sons, Mr. Henry Alston and Mr. Leroy Alston, both of Raleigh; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church in Pittsboro.
Mrs. Jennie S. Cook
ELON COLLEGE - Mrs. Jennie Bell "Tennie" Scott Cook, 80, of 2209 N.C. 87 North, died at 5:12 p.m. Monday, June 8, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two and a half years of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of Mr. Ralph Boyd Cook, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. William Hugh Scott and Mrs. Jennie Adkins Scott, both deceased. She was retired from Monarch Hosiery and was a homemaker.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Cook Laughlin of Elon College; a son, Mr. Hobart Gary Cook of Mebane; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ms. Mary Smith, Ms. Nellie Alcon and Ms. Claudia Sutton; three brothers, Mr. Norman Scott, Mr. Otis Scott and Mr. John D. Scott; a grandchild; and a step grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dave Gilbert, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church, and Dr. Dace Lewis, pastor of Front Street Christian Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. Edward Webster Jr.
ORLANDO, Fla. - Mr. Edward Lee Webster Jr. died Wednesday, June 3, 1998, at East Orlando Hospital after several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Beaulah Small Webster, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Glennie Violet Webster, who survives, and the late Mr. Edward L. Webster Sr.
Survivors other than his wife and mother of Burlington, include three sons, Mr. Ronnie Lee Webster of Burlington, and Mr. Todd Webster and Mr. Tony Webster, both of Orlando; a sister, Mrs. Dalphine Johnson of Gibsonville; two stepchildren; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Raymond Eugene Webster.
The funeral was conducted in Orlando.
Mr. Bertram A. West
GRAHAM - Mr. Bertram Adrian "Bert" West, 79, of Box 51, Swepsonville, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, at Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Alamance after two years of failing health, four weeks critical.
A native of Stanley County, he was the husband of Mrs. Leona "Esther" Keen West, who survives, and the son of Mr. Roy B. West and Mrs. Addie Lowder West, both deceased. He was retired from Copland Fabrics and was a Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two stepdaughters, Mrs. Betty Crigger of Mavisvale, Va., and Mrs. Loretta "Jean" Cleghorn of Jasper, Ga.; a stepson, Mr. Robert "Bob" Keen of Graham; a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) Webb of Burlington; seven step grandchildren; and several great-step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Ms. Phyllis R. Johnson; and three brothers, Mr. John West, Mr. Joe West and Mr. Lamar West.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Howard Thompson, pastor of Burlington Assembly of God. Burial will be in Hawfields Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Helen C. Jones
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - Mrs. Helen Carter Jones, 70, of Hendersonville, died Tuesday, June 2, 1998.
She was the wife of Mr. Glenn J. Jones, and the daughter of Mr. Ezra J. Carter and Mrs. Mother Maybelle Carter, both deceased. She was a member of the musical group, The Carter Family.
Survivors other than her husband include three sons, Mr. Glenn Daniel Jones, Mr. David Lawrence Jones and Mr. Kevin Carter Jones; two sisters, Mrs. June Carter Cash and Ms. Ina Anita Carter; six grandchildren; and several relatives in the Burlington area.
The funeral was Friday at Hendersonville First Baptist Church. Burial was in Woodlawn East cemetery in Hendersonville.
