PITTSBORO - Mr. Daniel Brian 'Danny' Squires, 31, died Friday, June 5, 1998.He was the husband of Mrs. Rhonda Clark Squires, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Linda S. Atkins, who survives, and the late Mr. Larry Everett Squires. He was a North Carolina State Trooper and attended Emmaus Baptist Church. Survivors other than his wife and mother include a son, Mr. Jordan M. Clark; a daughter, Miss Katherine G. Squires; his stepfather, Mr. Bobby G. Atkins; and two brothers, Mr. William J. Squires of Mebane and Mr. Samuel R. King of Graham.The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Emmaus Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Griffin Funeral Service in Pittsboro from 7 to 9 this evening.Memorials may be made to the Daniel Squires Children's College Fund, c/o First Citizens Bank.

Mr. Norman Perkins
BURLINGTON - Mr. Norman Samuel Perkins, 73, of 2157 S. Gurney St., died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after one year of failing health, 15 days critical.He was the husband of Mrs. Clara Beal Perkins, who survives.Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

Mr. Walter Mansfield
GREENSBORO - Mr. Walter Dailey Mansfield, 89, formerly of Liberty Road, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Wesley Nursing Center in Charlotte.Born June 19, 1908, in Durham, he was the husband of Mrs. Vista Garrett Mansfield, who died in 1980, and the son of Mr. Henry Mansfield and Mrs. Lillie Shaw Mansfield, both deceased. He had lived in Guilford County since 1945. He was a retired grocer and member of the Buena Vista Lodge International Order of the Odd Fellows for more than 40 years. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Burlington and Mouzon United Methodist Church in Charlotte. He was a former member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Greensboro, where he was active in the Methodist Men, was a youth counselor and member of the administrative board. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Goldston (Ann) Harris of Charlotte; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Charles Mansfield. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Friendship United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will be at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 this evening. Memorials may be made to Mouzon United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3100 Selwyn Ave., Charlotte, N.C. 28209; or to Friendship United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4612 Friendship-Patterson Mill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.

Cristal Ceja
GRAHAM - Infant Cristal Ceja, of 119 Ivey Road, Apt. E, died at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 1998, at her home. A native of Orange County, she was the daughter of Mr. Gavino Ceja-Vega and Ms. Noemi Medosa-Jimenez, who both survive. Survivors other than her parents of the home include maternal grandparents, Mr. Santos Medosa and Ms. Delfina Jimenez of Mexico; and paternal grandparents, Mr. Jesus Ceja and Ms. Martha Vega of Mexico. A wake service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Terence Pescatore, OFM Conv., associate pastor of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Alvin Somerville, OFM Conv., pastor of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The family will be at the home.

Mr. Robert Braxton
SILER CITY - Mr. Robert 'R.G.' Braxton, 60, of 1201 Poe Road, diedThursday, June 4, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.A native of Alamance County, he was a retired service station attendant. He was a member of South Fork Friends Meeting.Survivors include a son, Mr. Robert Sherman Braxton of Durham; and two sisters, Ms. Delores Braxton and Ms. Bonnie Buie, both of Siler City. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at South Fork Friends Meeting by the Rev. Jon Reece. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at the home. Smith and Buckner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Louise Windham
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Louise Isley Windham, 82, of 706 Engleman Ave., died at 2:13 a.m. Friday, June 5, 1998, at Alamance Skilled Nursing after a critical illness of a month. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Virgil M. Windham, and the daughter of Mr. John Richard Isley Sr. and Mrs. Lizzie Bryan Isley, both deceased. She was formerly employed by Plaid Mills and Sellars Department Store and was retired from Western Electric. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Reformed Church, where she was a member of the Keenager Club, the Women of the Church and the Christian Endeavor Society. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. James (Frances) Johnson of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Una Mahan of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Max G. Isley Sr. of Wilmington; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Mr. Harvie A. Isley, Mr. Howard W. Isley, Mr. J. R. Isley Jr. and Mr. Frank B. Isley. The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Mark's Reformed Church by the Rev. Robert M. Disher Jr., senior pastor, and the Rev. Marshall Masser, pastor of First Christian Church in Cahokia, Ill. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Blowing Rock Assembly Ground, P.O. Mrs. Aleane Stewart
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Aleane C. Stewart, 83, of 314 Bradley St., died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 1998, at her home after six months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Coley M. Stewart, and the daughter of Mr. Thomas Caulder and Mrs. Lola Allen Caulder, both deceased. She was retired from Macfield. She was a member of Forest Hills and Burlington Seniors and Grabur Heights Friendship Club. Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Rose Weaver of Graham and Ms. Wilma Stewart Patterson of the home; a son, Mr. William T. Stewart of Media, Pa.; a brother, Mr. Paul Caulder of Graham; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a grandchild. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Alamance Memorial Park by Dr. Ralph E. Jones Jr., and Mr. William T. Stewart. The family will be at the cemetery after the service. McClure Funeral Home in Graham is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Fannie Alston
PITTSBORO - Mrs. Fannie Alston, 82, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Carl (Hilder) Graves of Carrboro, Ms. Carolyn Alston of Chapel Hill, Mrs. Jimmy (Jessie Mae) White of Graham and Mrs. Macon (Christine) Marsh of Pittsboro; two sons, Mr. Henry Alston and Mr. Leroy Alston, both of Raleigh; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church in Pittsboro. The family will be at Jones Funeral Home from 7 to 8 Sunday evening.

Mrs. Ella R. Askew
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Ella Rainey Askew, 88, of 4173 Bellemont-Mt. Hermon Road, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a short illness.
A native of Granville County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Charles Hubert Askew and the daughter of Mr. Walker Lee Rainey and Mrs. Mit-tie Poythress Rainey, both deceased. She was retired from Burlington Industries. She was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church, the Philathia Sunday School Class, the Carrie Nichols Day Circle and the Golden Ager Senior Citizens Group. She was a charter member of Brookwood Baptist Church in Burlington and Sharpe Road Baptist Church in Greensboro.
Survivors include a son, Mr. Richard Askew of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Wood of Mebane and Mrs. Edith Howard of St. Simon Island, Ga.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ms. Ruth Cornell, Ms. Virginia Edwards and Ms. Lillian Allred, and a brother, Mr. Wilkie Rainey.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Bellemont United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jeff Roberts and the Rev. R.E.L. Moser. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Bellemont United Methodist Church, 4039 Markwood Drive, Burlington, N.C. 27215.

Mr. Otis E. Miles
GIBSONVILLE - Mr. Otis Ervin Miles, 72, of 7161 Powerline Road, died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at his home after a short illness.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Gladys Stanley Miles, who survives, and the son of Mr. Lee Abner Miles and Mrs. Rena Underwood Miles, both deceased. He was retired from Lemco Mills Ind. and was recently employed by Stadler Country Hams. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, where he served as a deacon, choir member and former Sunday school superintendent.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Peggy) Litten and Mrs. Tony (Hope) Neese, both of Gibsonville; four sisters, Mrs. Eva Walker and Mrs. Elsie Ammons, both of Gibsonville, Mrs. Hazel Ammons of Asbury, N.J., and Mrs. Lois Lee of Reidsville; three brothers, Mr. Robert A. Miles of Gibsonville, Mr. Homer B. Miles of Reidsville and Mr. Harvey C. Miles of Burlington; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Gibsonville by the Rev. Jim Smyrl, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Ruth S. Saul
ELON COLLEGE - Mrs. Ruth Smithey Saul, 92, of 3314 Church St., died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at Rehabilitation and Health Care of Alamance after a long illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. A.Y. Saul Sr. and the daughter of Mr. William David Smithey and Mrs. Lela Blackwell Smithey, both deceased. She was retired from Burlington Industries Plaid Mill. She was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Mary Graves Beale, Mrs. Shirley Ward and Mrs. Pat Haizlip, all of Elon College, and Mrs. Jeanette Apple of Mebane; three sons, Mr. Levi Saul and Mr. A.Y. Saul Jr., both of Elon College, and Mr. Bill Saul of Burlington; 24 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Alice Vaughn; two sisters, Mrs. Lois Saul and Ms. Callie Mae Satterfield; and seven brothers, Mr. Dan Saul, Mr. Clay Saul, Mr. Ray Saul, Mr. Samuel Saul, Mr. Jack Saul, Mr. Garland Saul and Mr. Clyde Saul.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Altamahaw Baptist Church by Dr. Dan Christopher, former pastor, and Dr. Tommy Richardson, pastor of Bible Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mr. Raymond Cremeans
HILLSBOROUGH - Mr. Raymond Cremeans, 71, 1637 Riverside Drive, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at his home.
A native of West Hamlin, W.Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Victoria Cremeans, who survives, and the son of Ms. Susan E. Shelton Cremeans, who survives. He was a member of United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Akron, Ohio, include three daughters, Ms. Susan Trump of Durham, Ms. Rebecca Ann Schulte of Dublin, Ohio, and Ms. Sherry Lynn Walls of High Point; four sons, Mr. Raymond Preston Cremeans of Durham, Mr. Michael Alan Cremeans of Eleanor, W.Va., Mr. Billy Joe Cremeans of Dade City, Fla., and Mr. Shane Cremeans of Burlington; two sisters, Ms. Emma Price and Ms. Betty Pavlovich, both of Akron; and 13 grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel in Hillsborough by the Rev. Johnny Godair. Burial will be in Markham Memorial cemetery in Chapel Hill.

Mr. Joseph D. Ross Jr.
ASHEBORO - Mr. Joseph Dewese Ross Jr., 87, of 139 S. Main St., died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at Skilled Nursing Division of Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.
Born July 11, 1911, in Asheboro, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Ruth Hughes Simpson, and the son of Mr. Joseph D. Ross Sr. and Ms. Ida Florence Morris. He attended the University of North Carolina and Pierce School of Business. He was a partner of J.D. Ross & Co. and director of P&P Chair Co. He served as chairman of the Asheboro City cemetery Committee, director of Farmers Mutual Insurance Association and was a trustee of Randolph Community College. He was active in the Democratic Party and served on the N.C. Employment Security Commission.
He was active in the Theta Chi college fraternity, National Interfraternity Council, Asheboro-Randolph Chamber of Commerce, the Randolph Historical Association, Balfour Masonic Lodge and Asheboro Elks Lodge No. 1694. A member of the Asheboro Rotary Club, he was district governor of Rotary International, a Paul Harris Fellow and had more than 50 years perfect attendance.
He was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the Official Board. He was treasurer of the High Point Methodist District and was a trustee of the Methodist Children’s Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Susan Dail Ross-Parks of Burlington; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday in the Ross family mausoleum in Asheboro City cemetery by the Rev. Chris Thore and the Rev. Art Ross.
The family will be at the home Thursday and Friday.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 300 S. Main St., Asheboro, N.C. 27203; or to the North Carolina Zoo-logical Society Memorial Fund, 4403 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, N.C. 27203.
