Mr. Robert Salmons Jr.
ELON COLLEGE - Mr. Robert “Bobby” Donald Salmons Jr., 43, of 414 Manning Ave., died at 4:20 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after 18 months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mrs. Margaret Rich Salmons who survives, and the late Mr. Robert Donald Salmons Sr. He was employed by Hinshaw Tile for more than 10 years.
Survivors other than his mother of Phoenix include one son, Mr. Joseph Donald Salmons of Phoenix; one sister, Mrs. Patricia Ann Alexander of Phoenix, and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at Magnolia cemetery in Elon College at 11 a.m. Monday.
Lowe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home of Mr. Leo Anderson and Mrs. Beverly Anderson, 416 Manning Ave., Elon College.

Mrs. Naomi Wagoner
McLEANSVILLE - Mrs. Naomi Massey Wagoner, 66, of 5935 Bethel Church Road, died at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro after a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Earl Ross Wagoner who survives, and the daughter of Mr. O.R. “Ted” Massey and Mrs. Lila Corrina Pennington Massey, both deceased. She was a retired waitress for Libby Hill Seafood, and a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include two sons, Mr. Terry Lynn Wagoner of Greensboro and Mr. Kevin Shawn Wagoner of Inman, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Forbis of Burlington; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church by the Rev. L. William Baird Jr., pastor. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Burlington from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mrs. Lucille Albright
LIBERTY - Mrs. Lucille Moody Albright, 84, a former resident of 8941 Moody Road, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at Central Carolina Hospital.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Slocum Lewis Albright. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church.
Survivors include a grandchild of Liberty.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. William Thomas Albright.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Hill Christian Church cemetery by the Rev. Howard Spray.
The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty from 7 to 8:30 this evening.

Mrs. Margaret Gibbs
VENICE, Fla. - Mrs. Margaret Wilson Gibbs, 91, of 900 S. Tamiami Trail, died. She was a former resident of Vaughn Road, Burlington.
A native of Harford County Maryland, she was the wife of the late Rev. F.L. Gibbs, and daughter of Mr. Alfred H. Wilson and Mrs. Jessie Huff Wilson, both deceased. She was a retired school teacher.

Mrs. Joan F. Easterling
WEST MONROE, La. - Mrs. Joan Fulcher Easterling, 58, of West Monroe, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998.
She was the wife of Mr. Bo Easterling who survives.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include one son, Mr. Eric Easterling of Colton, Calif.; two daughters, Ms. Michelle Easterling of Santa Cruz, Calif. and Ms. Christy Jenkins of West Monroe, La.; two brothers, Mr. Julius Fulcher of Vero Beach, Fla. and Mr. Joel Fulcher of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Alcon of Hickory and Mrs. Frances Luke of Haw River.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 this afternoon at Cypress Street Church of God in Monroe with burial in Roselawn cemetery in Calhoun, La.

Mr. Sam S. Gwynn
REIDSVILLE - Mr. Sam S. Gwynn, 86, of 880 Gwynn Road, Elon College, died Saturday morning, Sept. 26, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native and lifelong resident of the Cherry Grove Community in Caswell County, he was husband of Mrs. Edna King Gwynn who died in 1973, and the son of Mr. Sam L. Gwynn and Mrs. Bettie Elizabeth Matkins Gwynn, both deceased. He was a member and deacon at Gilliam’s Primitive Baptist Church for more than 40 years, and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Monroe “Pete” Gwynn of the home and Mr. Freeman Gwynn of Cherry Grove; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret G. Massey of Cherry Grove; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Gilliam’s Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Wallis Smith, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Wilkerson Funeral Service Inc. in Reidsville from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Margaret Massey, 729 Gwynn Road.
Mrs. Didama P. Ireland
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Didama P. “Dot” Ireland, 85, of White Oak Manor, died at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 1998, at the manor.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Daniel W. Ireland, and the daughter of Mr. Adolphus Pickard and Mrs. Rebecca McVey Pickard, both deceased. She was a member of the Sunshine Garden Club, past member of the Western Alamance High School PTA and was a Pink Lady at Alamance Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Berea United Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Wagoner of Elon College and Ms. Patricia Ireland of Carrboro; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 2 to 3 Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Frances D. Snipes
HILLSBOROUGH - Mrs. Frances Durham Snipes, 67, of 5005 Dairyland Road, died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at her home after a period of failing health.
A life-long resident of Orange County, she was the wife of Mr. Charles Snipes, who survives, and the daughter of Ms. Hope Crews Durham, who survives. She was a retired employee of Blue Cross / Blue Shield and was an active member of Cane Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband and mother include two daughters, Mrs. Ben (Susan) Nichols and Mrs. Paul (Karen) Sexton, both of Hillsborough; a sister, Ms. Judy Loy of Chapel Hill; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Cane Creek Baptist Church, 6901 Orange Grove Road, Hillsborough. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the church from 6 to 9 this evening.

Mr. Clinton McAllister Jr.
GRAHAM - Mr. Clinton Abe McAllister Jr., 25, of 4404 Wildlife Lane, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at Moore’s Chapel Road in Graham from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., he was the son of Mr. Clinton A. McAllister Sr. and Ms. Katherine Mills. He was a construction worker and was of the United Methodist faith.
Survivors other than his father of the home and mother of Los Angeles include a stepmother, Mrs. Darlene Ann McAllister of the home; a sister, Miss Brandy McAllister of Baltimore; three brothers, Mr. Joseph Adam McAllister and Mr. Clinton Eugene McAllister, both of the home, and Mr. Clayton Wayne McAllister of Baltimore; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Eleanar Gray McAllister of Saxapahaw; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Darlene Mills of Baltimore.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Saxapahaw United Methodist Church by the Rev. Rachel Moser, pastor. Burial will be in Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Ora D. Atkins
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Ora Mae Dowdy Atkins, 82, of 1025 Apt. M. Grace Ave., died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after four months of failing health.
A native of Pittsylvania County, Va., she was the wife of the late Mr. William Simpson and the late Mr. Anderson Tucker. She was the daughter of Mr. William Dowdy and Mrs. Sally Ann Grubbs Dowdy, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Hodnett of Chatham, Va., and Mrs. Shelby Scott of Efland; four sons, Mr. Dean Simpson of Graham, Mr. Sammy Simpson and Mr. Michael Tucker, both of Burlington, and Mr. Roger Meetz of Flint, Mich.; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Jewel Cook; and two sons, Mr. Calvin Simpson and Mr. Billy Dale Kearns.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Howard Thompson, pastor of Burlington Assembly of God. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
