Mrs. Mary N. Wellons
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Mary Neighbors Wellons, 77, of 1987 Hilton Road, formerly of McCray Road, died at 4:25 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 1997, at Alamance Health Care Center after six and a half years of failing health, one month critical.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Mr. James E. Wellons and the daughter of Mr. Charlie Neighbors and Mrs. Daisey Dean Neighbors, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Long's Chapel United Church of Christ.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Catherine W. Rudd of Burlington, Mrs. Barbara W. Steelman of Kernersville, Mrs. Faye W. Thompson of Sanford and Mrs. Martha W. Norton of Graham; two sons, Mr. James E. Wellons Jr. and Mr. Wiley H. Neighbors, both of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Carrie N. McGuire of Yanceyville; a brother, Mr. John Neighbors of Yanceyville; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Long's Chapel United Church of Christ cemetery by the Rev. Homer Frye, pastor of Long's Chapel United Church of Christ.
The family will be in Long's Chapel United Church of Christ fellowship hall after the service.

Mrs. Helen C. Farrell
GRAHAM - Mrs. Helen Cheek Farrell, 79, of 1003 Camelot Lane died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. George Woodrow 'Woody' Farrell, and the daughter of Mr. Alford Elmer Cheek and Mrs. Carrie Councilman Cheek, both deceased. She was a member of the Christian Bible Fellowship and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Steve (Jerrie Sue) Carver of the home; one son, Mr. Donald Farrell of New Bern; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home by the Rev. Bruce Readling, pastor of Christian Bible Fellowship. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Lowe Funeral Home.

Mr. James Crumpton
BURLINGTON - Mr. James Aaron Crumpton, 79, of 7406 Kerr's Chapel Road died at 6:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at Hospice Home of Burlington after several years of failing health, five weeks critical.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Sarah Shelton Crumpton, who survives, and the son of Mr. George Crumpton and Mrs. Emma Belton Crumpton, both deceased. He was a retired textile employee and farmer. He was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Chambers of Burlington and Mrs. Gladys Hensley of Elon College; and a brother, Mr. Roy Crumpton of Providence, North Carolina.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Gaylord Dix, pastor of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at McClure Funeral Home in Graham, and at other times at the home.

Mr. Charlie Cahill
AXTON, Va. - Mr. Charlie Cahill, 10, of 978 Irisburg Road died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville, Va.
A native of Martinsville, he was the son of Mr. John D. Cahill and Mrs. Lisa Utt Cahill, formerly of Alamance County, who survive. He was a student at Irisburg Elementary School.
Survivors other than his parents of the home, include a grandfather, Mr. Earl C. Utt of Axton; a grandmother, Mrs. Mary 'Granny' Utt of Axton; and a great-grandmother, Ms. Olivia Utt of Hillsville, Va.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Mr. Zackery 'Dillard' Cahill; a grandmother, Mrs. Rose Putzil Pharis Cahill; a great-grandfather, Mr. Earl E. Utt; and a great-grandmother, Ms. Gertie Hawks.
The funeral was conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday at Tomlinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Dale Reynolds and Mr. Monroe Light. Burial will be a private ceremony at 1 p.m. today.

Mr. Terry M. Morgan
AYDEN - Mr. Terry Michael Morgan, 32, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Kitty Askins Center, Goldsboro.
He was the husband of Mrs. Amanda Hill Morgan, who survives, and the son of Mr. Jerry Michael Morgan and Mrs. Kaye Pace Morgan of Graham. He was employed by E.I. DuPont Co. and was a member of Ayden United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Ayden United Methodist Men. He attended Appalachian State University and Mt. Olive College.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include one son, Mr. Luke Morgan of the home; one daughter, Ms. Elizabeth Morgan of the home; and one sister, Ms. Janet Petra of the Netherlands.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alamance Memorial Park.

Mrs. Wilma L. Barrett
GRAHAM - Mrs. Wilma Lynn Barrett, 77, of 4833 Swepsonville-Saxapahaw Road died at 10:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Hospice Home in Burlington after an illness of three weeks.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Curtis Barrett, and the daughter of Mr. John Lynn and Mrs. Carrie V. Parker Lynn, both deceased. She was retired from Dixie Yarns and was employed by Arby's of Graham. She was a member of Moore's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Jackie) Davis of Graham and Mrs. Sam (Cornelia) Honeycutt of Haw River; two sons, Mr. Darrell Barrett Sr. and Mr. Howard Barrett, both of Graham; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Patsy Davis; a sister, Miss Annie Lynn; four brothers, Mr. Roy Lynn, Mr. Odell Lynn, Mr. J.D. Lynn and Mr. Fred Lynn; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Moore's Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Ricky Donaldson, former pastor, and the Rev. Benjamin Kelley, pastor of Salem United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of a son, Mr. Darrell Barrett, 4911 Swepsonville-Saxapahaw Road, Graham.

Mr. John W. Thuss
NEWTON - Mr. John Woodard Thuss, 89, of Abernethy Retirement Center, 102 Leonard Ave., died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at his home.
Born Dec. 5, 1907, in Nashville, Tenn., he was the husband of the late Mrs. Martha Nell Wells Thuss. He was the son of Mr. A.J. Thuss and Mrs. Isabell Goetz Thuss, both deceased. He was educated at the University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University. He was a civil engineer and was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority and the N.C. Department of Highways.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. John W. Thuss Jr. of Lenoir and Mr. Noland Wells Thuss of Alamance County; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. today at Abernethy Retirement Center by the Rev. Gordon Pillon, pastor of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Newton. A graveside service will be conducted in Murphy.

Mr. Melvin H. Cox
HAMPTON, Va. - Mr. Melvin Harold Cox, 74, of the Veteran's Administration Medical Center Nursing Home died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Emma Lee Parker Cox, who survives, and the son of Mr. Dolphus Jackson Cox and Mrs. Ida Matkins Cox, both deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he participated in action in Saipan and Okinawa. He was a former Linotype-machine operator and had lived in the Norfolk-Hampton Roads area of Virginia for the past 10 years.
Survivors other than his wife of Jacksonville, N.C., include four sisters, Ms. Ruth C. Evans of Greensboro, Ms. Thelma C. Beck of Lexington, Ms. Lula C. Upton of Charlotte and Ms. Virginia C. Smith of Bennett.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mr. Roger Cox, Mr. Lester Cox and Mr. G.W. Cox; and one sister, Ms. Lillian Capps.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Gilliam Primitive Baptist Church cemetery by Elder Wallis Smith.

Mrs. Patsy B. Hunter
MEBANE - Mrs. Patsy Jean Brown Hunter, 60, of 110 S. Second St. died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Billy Hunter, who survives, and the daughter of Mrs. Lola Brown, who survives. She was a homemaker.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and mother of Mebane include a daughter, Ms. Sherry Carr of Cedar Grove; a sister, Ms. Peggy George of Mebane; a brother, Mr. Robert Brown of Roxboro; and two grandchildren.
There will be no funeral service.

Mr. Willard J. Clark
BONLEE - Mr. Willard J. Clark, 89, of 532 Bonlee-Bennett Road died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.
A native of Chatham County, he was the husband for 60 years to Mrs. Mary Underwood Clark, who survives. He was a retired salesman for Chatham Motors with 30 years of service and was a cattle farmer. He was a former chairman of the Bonlee School Board and was a member of Bonlee Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
Survivors other than his wife include two daughters, Ms. Julia C. Emerson of Charlotte and Ms. Frances C. Lee of Kannapolis; three sons, Dr. Jim Clark of Burlington, Mr. John R. Clark of Goldston and Mr. Robert A. Clark of Richmond, Va.; three sisters, Ms. Joybelle C. Lindley and Ms. Frances C. Kimpton, both of Asheboro, and Ms. Elizabeth C. Giles of Decatur, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Bonlee Baptist Church by the Rev. Darrell Williams. Burial will be in Hope cemetery in Bonlee.
The family will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home of Siler City from 7 to 9 this evening.
