Miss Zenora J. Smith
GREENSBORO - Miss Zenora “Zinkie” J. Smith, 67, formerly of 4028 N.C. 49 South, Burlington, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
A native of York, Pa., she was a member of Spring Garden Friends Meeting. She was a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia and worked as an X-ray technician
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Jo Anne) Suits and Mrs. Steve (Jeweldine) Horosko, both of Greensboro.
A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Guilford Memorial Park.
The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel from 7 to 9 this evening.

Mr. Eugene Teal
PATRICK S.C. - Mr. Eugene Teal, 66, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998.
A native of Chesterfield County, S.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Mary Hancock Teal, who survives, and the son of Mr. John Lockes Teal and Mrs. Mary Etta Bell Teal. He was retired from Delta Mills.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Ms. Margaret Freeman of Patrick; a son, Mr. Jimmy Teal of Graham; a stepdaughter, Ms. Susan Riveria of Elizabeth City; a stepson, Mr. Junior Tolson of Patrick; two sisters, Ms. Elizabeth Ackerman of Warren, Mich., and Ms. Peggy Simmons of Fairfax, Va.; three brothers, Mr. J.L. “Buck” Teal of Fort Mills, S.C., Mr. Riley D. Teal of Williston, S.C., and Mr. Charlie A. Teal of Chesterfield, S.C.; and 10 grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Chesterfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Thomas Pike
SNOW CAMP - Mr. Thomas Hodgin Pike, 88, of 515 Sylvan School Road, Snow Camp, died suddenly at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at his home.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Gertrude Thompson Pike and Mrs. Grace Albright Foster Pike, who survives. He was the son of Mr. J. Gurney Pike and Mrs. Clara Dixon Pike, both deceased. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of Cane Creek Friends Meeting.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Lee Younts of Snow Camp; a sister, Mrs. Flora Thompson of Skilled Nursing Division of Alamance Health Services; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Diana Cummings of Graham; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Cane Creek Friends Meeting by Dale Matthews, pastor, and the Rev. Robert K. Eldredge, Methodist minister. Burial will be in the Meeting House Cemetery.

Mrs. Muriel Maynard
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Muriel Teeter Maynard, 87, of 260 N.C. 87 North, died at 7:25 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at Horizon Rehabilitation Center in Durham after a long illness.
A native of Stanley County, she was the wife of the late Mr. James William Maynard, and the daughter of Mr. Daniel Elam Teeter and Mrs. Saphrona Haithcock Teeter, both deceased. She was a former employee of May Hosiery.
Survivors include a son, Mr. Larry Maynard of Burlington; a half-brother, Mr. Gene Teeter of Oakboro; a half-sister, Mrs. Martha Strickland of Conehatta, Miss.; and a grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alamance Memorial park by Elder Gary Horner of Gibsonville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mrs. Ophelia Stover
WHITSETT - Mrs. Ophelia Keels Stover, 78, of 5003 McConnell Road, died at 1:12 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at her home after an illness of eight months.
A native of Columbia, S.C., she was the wife of the late Mr. Lexie James Stover, and the daughter of Mr. Thomas Jefferson Keels and Mrs. Dora Rose Keels, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rock Hill, S.C.
Survivors include a daughter, Miss Teresa Ann Stover of Greensboro; two sons, Mr. William “Bill” Stover of Key Largo, Fla., and Mr. Daniel “Dan” Stover of Georgetown, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Allie Keels Gouldin of Greensboro; a brother, Mr. Walker C. Keels of Charleston, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Josephine Whittle; and a brother, Mr. Thomas S. Keels.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Robert M. Disher, pastor of St. Mark’s Reformed Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mr. Allen Wood Jr.
BURLINGTON - Mr. Allen Wood Jr., 67, of 365 Vinson Road, died at 3:25 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at Avante of Lynchburg, Va., after 13 months of failing health, three days critical.
A native of Sampson County, he was the son of Mr. Allen Wood Sr. of Mrs. Bessie Hughes Wood, both deceased. He was a self-employed machinist and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Daisy Wood Arietta of Burlington and Mrs. Vicky Thompson Cottingham of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Mrs. Laura Moore of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Edna Joyce Bailey of Winston-Salem; Mrs. Hilda Castlebury of Harrisburg, and Mrs. Louise Parks of Union Hill; a brother, Mr. Ralph Wood of Burlington; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Ms. Kimberly Wood and Ms. Cynthia Wood; and two brothers, Mr. Dan Wood and Mr. Bobby Wood.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Hill Cemetery, Legion Section.

HAW RIVER - Mrs. Lillian Foster Clark, 84, of 531 Boundry St., died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after 1˝ years of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Murphy Haskins Clark, and the daughter of Mr. Edward Foster and Mrs. Annie Way Foster, both deceased. She was a retired textile worker and a member of First Baptist Church of Haw River.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Ann Boggs of Haw River and Mrs. Letha Annette Bridges of Mebane; five sons, Mr. Larry Haskins Clark of Liberty, Mr. Daniel Francis Clark Sr. and Mr. Darryl Holmes Clark, both of Graham, Mr. Charles Benjamin Clark of Richmond, Va., and Mr. Randell Ray Clark of Haw River; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ms. Jean Carol Durham.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Larry Thompson. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Mr. Z. Vance Ingle
WHITSETT - Mr. Z. Vance Ingle, 87, a former resident of N.C. 100 in Whitsett, died at 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at Cone Extended Care in Greensboro.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Delcie Laws Ingle, and the son of Mr. Daniel Mebane Ingle and Mrs. Ella Frances Shepherd Ingle, both deceased. He was retired from May Hosiery and Kayser Roth Corp after 60 years. He was a member of Springwood Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Mr. Jesse Carson Ingle, Mr. James Ronald Ingle and Mr. Howard Vance Ingle, all of Whitsett; a sister, Mrs. Frances Anderson of McLeansville; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Moser, Mrs. Lucille Isley, Mrs. Kathleen Shepherd, Mrs. Ethel Holt and Mrs. Estelle Troxler; and five brothers, Mr. C.B. Ingle, Mr. Lee Ingle, Mr. Jake Ingle, Mr. Woodrow Ingle and Mr. D.M. Ingle Jr.

BURLINGTON - Mr. James Earl Westbrooks Sr., 60, of 2530 Basin Creek Road, died at 6:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two years of failing health, six months critical.
A native of Person County, he was the husband of Mrs. Lucille Lowery “Tina” Westbrooks, who survives, and the son of Mr. John Henry Westbrooks Sr. and Mrs. Cora Virginia Westbrooks, both deceased. He was retired from Motor Bearings Auto Parts.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Debra Jones of Burlington; a son, Mr. James E. “Jimmy” Westbrooks Jr. of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Cathy Gulley of Graham; five brothers, Mr. Johnny Westbrooks Jr. of Graham, Mr. Jack Westbrooks of Saxapahaw; Mr. Harold Ray Westbrooks of Nichols, S.C., Mr. Bobby Westbrooks of Burlington and Mr. Robert Westbrooks of Danville, Va.; a grandchild; and a step grandchild.

YANCYEVILLE - Mr. Hugh Walter Miles, 77, of 272 Oak Tree St., died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at LaSalle Health Care Center in Durham.
Born Nov. 27, 1920, in Caswell County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Annie Mable Williamson, and the son of Mr. Walter Miles and Mrs. Lula Lea Miles, both deceased. He was a retired construction worker and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Miss Dolly Miles of Bladensburg, Md., Miss Linda Miles of Clinton, Md., Mrs. Joye Lorraine Slade of Charlotte, Mrs. Hilda Graves of Greensboro and Miss Lula Denise Miles of Pelham; five sons, Mr. Roger Williamson of Yanceyville, Mr. Curtis Miles of Washington, D.C., Mr. Darence Miles of Baltimore, Md., and Mr. Raymond Graves and Mr. Timothy Miles, both of Pelham; three sisters, Mrs. Della Cunningham and Miss Barbara Ann Miles, both of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Mable Long of Yanceyville; a brother, Mr. J.D. Miles of Yanceyville; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at High Rock Baptist Church by the Rev. Cephus Lea. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
