Mr. William H. Clapp
GIBSONVILLE - Mr. William Henry Clapp, 60, of 170 Painter Lakes Road, died at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at his home after three years of failing health.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Margaret Foster Clapp, and the son of Mr. Ernest Glenn Clapp and Mrs. Ethel Reece Clapp, both deceased. He was a retired deputy with the Guilford County Sheriffs Department.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a stepson, Mr. Dennis S. Campbell of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Wayne Clapp of Gibsonville; and three step grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Delton Agnor, pastor of Brightwood Christian Church.
There will be no visitation and the family will be at the home.

Mr. Timothy L. Mooney
HAW RIVER - Mr. Timothy Lacy Mooney, 39, of 121 Hill St., died at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel hill after three months of failing health.
A native of Person County, he was the son of Mrs. Odell Briggs Mooney, who survives, and the late Mr. Ozy Mooney. He was retired from textiles and construction work.
Survivors other than his mother of the home include a sister, Mrs. Terry Little of Mebane; and a brother, Mr. Kim Ozy Mooney of the home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Person Memorial Park in Roxboro by the Rev. Ebren Allen, pastor of Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mr. J. Claborne Jones
BURLINGTON - Mr. James Claborne Jones, 70, formerly of Queen Ann Street, died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at Willow Springs Nursing Home in Carrboro, after five years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Betty Allen Jones, and the son of Mr. Henry Jones and Mrs. Lillie Turner Jones, both deceased. He was retired from Cone Mills and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Diane Jones of Durham and Mrs. Patricia Jones of Graham; a sister, Mrs. Violet Sutton of Burlington; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of Mrs. Patricia Jones, 2354 Olde Spring Court, Graham.
Mr. Morris H. Warren
BURLINGTON - Mr. Morris Harrelson Warren, 75, of 252 Albany St., died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at his home.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Ruby Webster Warren, and the son of Mr. Floyd Dover Warren and Mrs. Mabel Murphy Warren, both deceased. He was retired from Kellwood Hosiery in Graham. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Survivors include three daughters, Ms. Cheryl Davis of Graham, and Ms. Pamela Warren and Ms. Michelle Warren, both of Burlington; a son, Mr. Dennis H. Warren of Burlington; five sisters, Mrs. Musette Loy, Mrs. Ida Grace Pulliam, Mrs. Doris Loy, Mrs. Eleanor Kimbro, and Mrs. Hazel Rudd, all of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Edwin Warren of Burlington; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mr. Ralph Warren, Mr. Robert Warren, and Mr. Ray Warren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Tommy Willis, pastor of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mr. Herbert Pettigrew
BURLINGTON - Mr. Herbert Vance 'Buck' Pettigrew, 69, of 1112 McPherson Road, died at 3; 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Mary Jane Smith Pettigrew, who survives, and the son of Mr. James Luther Pettigrew and Mrs. Mary Baldwin Pettigrew, both deceased. He was retired from the Tire Center in Burlington. He was a member of the North State Boating Club Inc., a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and he was involved in the Boy Scouts, serving for several years as an active leader. He was a member of First Christian United Church of Christ.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Ms. Carolyn J. Pettigrew of Burlington; three sisters, Ms. Treva Cobb and Mrs. Ruby Lea, both of Gibsonville, and Ms. Mabel Mathews of Raleigh; and one brother, Mr. Jim Pettigrew of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Mr. Grover C. Pettigrew.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Robert Barrows Jr., pastor of First Christian United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home.

Mr. Robert L. Haskell
MADISON, Ind. - Mr. Robert L. 'Bobby' Haskell, 59, of 5869 W. 500 N., died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, after an illness of one year. He was a former resident of Spartanburg, S.C.
Born March 24, 1939, in Switzerland County, Ind., he was the son of Mr. Herbert 'Hosie' Haskell, who survives, and the late Mrs. Geraldine Lauderbaugh Haskell, and the stepson of Mrs. Florence Haskell, who survives. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, serving from 1956 to 1975, and during the Vietnam War. He also retired as a heating and air conditioning maintenance man with Central Heating and Air Conditioning at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Spartanburg, where he worked for 15 years. He grew up in Switzerland County and had lived in Madison since 1992. He was a member of Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion, Madison Moose Lodge 765 and Spartanburg Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his father and stepmother of Madison include two daughters, Ms. Kimberly M. Haskell of Goose Creek, S.C., Mrs. Lisa R. Haskell-Tupper of Summerville, S.C.; a son, Mr. Robert L. Haskell Jr. of Graham; a sister, Ms. Shirley Peddie of Madison; two brothers, Mr. Jerry W. Haskell of Columbus, Ind., and Mr. Larry W. Haskell of Scipio, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home in Madison by the Rev. A. Franklyn Brooks. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison, with full military rites conducted by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.

Mr. Dewey Allison
BURLINGTON - Mr. Dewey Allison, 75, of 1224 Cedar Crest Drive, died at 3:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Eloise Cook Allison, who survives, and the son of Mr. Lewis J. Allison and Mrs. Roxie Everett Allison, both deceased. He was the owner of Allison's Service Station. He was a Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Miss Kay Karen Allison of the home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. W.D. Allison.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening.
Mrs. Eva Mae S. Neal
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Eva Mae Self Neal, 84, of 328 N. Sellars Mill Road, died at 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at White Oak Manor after a critical illness of four weeks.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Robert T. Neal, and the daughter of Mr. Silas Royal Self and Mrs. Minnie Bryant Self, both deceased. She was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. David (Barbara) Moore of Burlington; two sons, Mr. Robert S. 'Ted' Neal of Burlington and Mr. Michael Lee Neal of Graham; two sisters, Ms. Louise Self Frederick and Mrs. Katherine Self Broadwell, both of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Mr. Robert Lee Self of Burlington and Mr. John Walter Self of Eden; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. James Frank Self.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Powell Sykes, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Rev. Edsel Caviness, pastor of Solid Rock Baptist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

HAW RIVER - Mr. James C. 'Tink' Sawyer, 77, of 3873 Dodson Lane, died at 10:38 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after one year of failing health, two weeks critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Roberta Dodson Sawyer, and the son of Mr. Samuel Elwood Sawyer and Mrs. Jennie Gray Sawyer, both deceased. He was retired from textile manufacturing and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Mr. Larry James Sawyer of Fairburn, Ga.; a brother, Mr. Arthur Sawyer of Graham; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Salem United Methodist Church by the Rev. Benji Kelley, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Lora Elizabeth Prince Weaver 'Libby' Garner, 50, of 407 Chestnut St., died Monday afternoon, Aug. 31, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Mr. Arthur B. Smith
MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Mr. Arthur Benjamin Smith, 63, of 1016 Covington Road, died Sunday evening, Aug. 30, 1998, at Vencor Hospital, Greensboro.
A native of Rockingham County, he was the husband of Mrs. Hazel Smith, who survives. He was employed by the state of Virginia at the Department of Transportation.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two stepdaughters, Ms. Linda Campbell of Bear Creek and Ms. Sherry Vogtsberger of Hampton, Va.; two stepsons, Mr. Johnny Hughes of Elizabeth City and Mr. Danny Hughes of Graham; two sisters, Ms. Ruth Smith of Atlanta and Ms. Frances Webb of Mayodan; four brothers, Mr. Johnny Smith of Mayodan, and Mr. Carlton Smith, Mr. Billy Smith and Mr. Irving Smith, all of Eden; a half brother, Mr. Howard Jenkins of Atlanta; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
