GREENSBORO - Ms. Geneva A. Terry, 79, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Moses H. Cone Hospice.
She worked with Otto Zanky and was retired from Belk's Department Store.
Survivors include a son, Mr. James L. Terry of Greensboro; a sister, Ms. Ellen Terrell of Mebane; two brothers, Mr. Joe Allred of Graham and Mr. Thado Allred of Burlington; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. John Terry; and a brother, Mr. Marcus Allred.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Proximity United Methodist Church.

GRAHAM - Mrs. Helen Cheek Farrell of 1003 Camelot Lane died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Currie Campbell
HAMBURG, N.Y. - Mr. Currie Banks 'Sailor' Campbell of Boston Highway died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997.
He was the husband of Ms. Felicia Zrodlowski Campbell, and the son of Mr. Thomas A. Campbell and Mrs. Ora Mae Arnold Campbell, both deceased. He was a member of Hamburg Moose Lodge No. 992 and the American Legion Hamburg Post No. 527.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Campbell Wade of Mebane; and three brothers, Mr. Julius Campbell and Mr. Howard Campbell, both of Mebane, and Mr. Herbert Campbell of Reidsville.
Services will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Hamburg Chapel of the John J. Zaczor Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. Monday at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Entombment will be in Lakeside Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will be at the John J. Zaczor Funeral Home from 2 to 4 this afternoon and from 7 to 9 this evening.

Mr. John L. Keene
BURLINGTON - Mr. John Luther Keene, 94, of 2484 Hoskins Road, formerly of Jewel Ridge, Va., died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dace (Edna) Ingold.
A native of Buchanan County, Va., he was the husband of the late Mrs. Eula Agnes White Keene, and the son of Mr. Peter Cleveland Keene and Mrs. Louemma Lowe Keene, both deceased. He was a retired coal-mine inspector for the state of Virginia. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and attended Temple Baptist Church in Burlington for three years.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Dace (Edna) Ingold of Burlington, Mrs. Mildred Hall of Pensacola, Fla., and Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) Berrier of Gibsonville; three sons, the Rev. William P. Keene and Mr. Jack S. Keene, both of Jewel Ridge and Mr. Frank R. Keene of Cedar Bluff, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Elbert (Minnie) Hess and Mrs. Ken (Juanita) Street, both of Asheboro, and Mrs. Burke (Esther) West of Saxapahaw; a brother, Mr. Edward Keene of Rowe, Va.; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Mr. Elbert M. Keene, Mr. Harold L. Keene and Mr. Lloyd B. Keene; three brothers, Mr. Robert Keene, Mr. Harrison Keene and Mr. Albert Keene; four sisters, Ms. Lucy Street, Ms. Ocie Hall, Ms. Anna McGlothin and Ms. Ruby Shortridge; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hurst-Scott Richlands Chapel in Richlands, Va., by Mr. Bill Keene, Mr. Ancil Childress and Mr. Ken Mitchell. Burial will be in Green Hill Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Blonda W. Hall
GIBSONVILLE - Mrs. Blonda Whitesell Hall, 83, of 704 Burlington Ave., died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Charlie Edward Hall, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Henry C. Whitesell and Mrs. Laura Walls Whitesell, both deceased. She was retired from Baker Cammack Hosiery Mill and a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a son, Mr. Elmer O. Hall of Hot Springs; a sister, Mrs. Mary Welborn of Haw River; and a brother, Mr. Charlie Whitesell of Gibsonville.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Larry Eugene Hall.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Robert M. Smith, pastor of Gibsonville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Gibsonville City Cemetery.

Ms. Mary M. Graves
GIBSONVILLE - Ms. Mary Maxine Graves, 48, of 3445 Huffine Mill Road died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Born April 24, 1949, in Caswell County, she was the daughter of Mr. David Graves and Mrs. Parthenia Watlington Graves, who survive. She was a member of Blackwell Baptist Church, where she was treasurer of the Pastor's Aid and Missionary Auxiliary. She served on the kitchen committee and the West Yanceyville Missionary Group. She was an employee of Cone Mills corporate office in Greensboro as an account technician.
Survivors other than her parents of Gibsonville include a daughter, Ms. Chandra Graves of Greensboro; four brothers, Mr. Glenn Watlington of Randlestown, Md., Mr. Robert Graves of Greensboro, Mr. Michael Graves of Browns Summit and Mr. Donald Graves of Gibsonville; and five sisters, Mrs. Patricia G. Clack of Elon College, Mrs. Cathy G. Noble of Greensboro, Mrs. Richetta G. Slade of Gibsonville, Mrs. Debra G. Foust of Browns Summit and Ms. Barbara E. Graves of Graham.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Everett Dickerson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Blackwell Baptist Church from 7 to 8 Monday evening, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Jamie B. Baker
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Jamie Best Baker, 38, of 3947 Pond Road died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center of injuries sustained in an auto accident.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Dennis L. Baker, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. James E. Best Jr. and Mrs. Betty Crenshaw Best, who both survive. She was director of operations at Roto-Plate. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the adult choir, the handbell choir, the Friendship Sunday School Class, the mission committee, and was a vacation Bible school director.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and father and mother of Haw River include a daughter, Miss Betty Baker of the home; a son, Mr. Jim Baker of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Debbie Best Womack of Burlington and Mrs. Tammy Best Ferettino of Graham; and a brother, Mr. Sammy Best of Burlington.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Skip Williams, pastor. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Lucille L. Tate
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Lucille Lanning Tate, 86, of 1234 Franklin St. died at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
A native of Denton, she was the wife of the late Mr. Arthur Pinckney Tate and the daughter of Mr. Arthur Lanning and Mrs. Bessie Peacock Lanning, both deceased. She graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia, where she majored in music and drama. She taught music in the Alamance County schools and taught voice and piano lessons in her home. She was a director of church choirs; a published poet; a composer of Christian music and active in Burlington drama groups. She was a member of the Burlington Writers Club. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Burlington.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jean Tate Davis of Greensboro; two sons, Mr. James E. Tate of Burlington and Dr. John L. Tate of Spartanburg, S.C.; a brother, Mr. Max G. Lanning of Denton; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by Dr. Charles Williams, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, and the Rev. Genie Martin, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Burlington. Burial will be in Cross Roads Presbyterian Church cemetery.

BURLINGTON - Mr. Thelbert A. Barbour, 91, of 446 Parkview Drive, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, at his home after four months of failing health.
A native of Johnston County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Verdie Hay Barbour and the son of Mr. O.P. Barbour and Mrs. Lelia Parker Barbour, both deceased. He was the retired owner of Davis Street Pharmacy and a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Carolyn B. Lowder of Gibsonville, Mrs. Linda B. Kerns of Elon College and Mrs. Elizabeth Watkins of Burlington; a son, Mr. Frank F. Barbour of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Mr. A.F. 'Pete' Barbour of Burlington, Mr. O.P. Barbour Jr. of Raleigh and Mr. Raeford Barbour of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Buena Talton of Raleigh and Mrs. Julia Slayton of Florence, S.C.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

SANFORD - Mrs. Juanita Day Hazell, 91, formerly of 212 Shaw St., Greensboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, at Laurels of Chatham Nursing Home.
She taught at Pleasant Grove Elementary School for 35 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Edith H. Cox of Sanford.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at United Institutional Baptist Church, 802 E. Market St., Greensboro by the Rev. Johnny R. Freeman, pastor, and the Rev. William Hill. Burial will be in Piedmont Memorial Park in Greensboro.
