Mrs. Mary G. Fuller
MEBANE - Mrs. Mary G. Fuller, 89, of Mebane, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at her home.
Born Sept. 12, 1918, in Orange County, she was the wife of Mr. Joe Fuller, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Al Graves and Mrs. Ressie Whitfield Graves, both deceased. She was a member of Sweet Gum Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include four sisters, Ms. Gracie Vincent, Ms. Vialee Nichols and Ms. Pauline Pool, all of Mebane, and Ms. Helen Fuller of Burlington; and three brothers, Mr. Al McKinley Graves of Mebane, and Mr. Yousely Graves and Mr. Junious Graves, both of Burlington.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Chavis-Parker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Charlie Miles. Burial will be in Buleah Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5:30 to 6:30 this evening.
Mrs. Gladys Wright
EFLAND - Mrs. Gladys H. Wright, 69, of 3102 Gym Road, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A native of Orange County, she was the wife of 51 years of Mr. David Wright, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Oscar Hopkins and Mrs. Mary Clayton Hopkins, both deceased. She was a retired employee of Efland Hosiery Mills and a member of Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Beverly W.) Haynie of Hillsborough and Mrs. Marie W. Mace of Hurdle Mills; a son, Mr. Frankie Wright of Hillsborough; a sister, Ms. Louise Veasey of Raleigh; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Clements Funeral Chapel in Hillsborough by the Rev. Jay Bissett. Burial will be in Walnut Grove United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mr. Rufus Cotton Jr.
HILLSBOROUGH - Mr. Rufus 'Bro' Cotton Jr., 37, of Hillsborough, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Veterans Hospital in Durham.
Born Nov. 11, 1950, in Durham County, he was the son of Mr. Rufus Cotton Sr. and Mrs. Addie Terrell Cotton, who both survive. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors other than his parents of the home include a daughter, Ms. Danielle Cotton of Durham; two sons, Mr. Travis Cotton and Mr. Jonathan Cotton, both of Temberlake; three sisters, Mrs. Earl (Elaine) Vincent of Temple Hills, Md., and Mrs. Efland (Carolyn) Cotton and Mrs. William (Jeannie) Knight, both of Hillsborough; a brother, Mr. Bobby Cotton of Hillsborough; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Orange Cross Road Baptist Church by the Rev. Rainey Enoch and the Rev. Calvin E. Miller, pastor.
The family will be at Chavis-Parker Funeral Home Chapel from 7 to 8 this evening.
Mrs. Edith Pierce
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Edith Catherine Pierce of Twin Lakes Retirement Center died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at the center after several months of failing health. She was formerly of Cary.
A native of Louisville, Ky., she was the wife of the late Mr. B.P. Whitehouse and Mr. James W. Pierce, who survives. She was the daughter of Mr. H.G. Knadler and Mrs. Lydia Struntz Knadler, both deceased. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a sister, Mrs. Florence K. Nordyke of Fort Myers, Fla.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter by the Rev. David Williams, rector.

Mr. Glenn Womble Sr.
Glenn F. Womble Sr., 90, of 117 Knellworth Ave., died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Riverside Health Care Center.
Born April 10, 1908, in Moncure, he was the husband of Mrs. Pearle Turner Womble, who survives, and the son of Mr. John L. Womble and Mrs. Carrie Mae Farrell Womble, both deceased. He earned a degree in chemistry from Elon College and was a retired research chemist from Dan River Mills, where he developed and patented a napthol dyeing process which revolutionized the dyeing process for WWII uniforms.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Mr. Glen F. Womble Jr. of Mebane and Mr. Wayne Womble of Danville; and one grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Mountain View cemetery by the Rev. Jack Heinsohn.
The family will be at the home.

Mr. Harry Brotherton
SNOW CAMP - Mr. Harry Merill 'Sonny' Brotherton, 71, of 1402 Quakenbush Road, died at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at his home after an illness of eight months.
A native of Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of Mr. Harry Charles Brotherton and Mrs. Madge Tennis Wilson Brotherton, both deceased. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer of the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service. He was a member of the V.F.W., the Moose Lodge, the National Rifle Association and the N.C. Sheriff's Association. He was a member of Burlington Assembly of God.
Suvivors include a son, Mr. Larry Brotherton of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Peter Sherman of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Pat Kruger of Azusa Calif., and Mrs. Shirley Richlmayer of West Seneca, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by Dr. Howard Thompson.
The family will be at the funeral home in Graham one hour before the service.
Miss Effie Massey
BURLINGTON - Miss Effie Naomi Massey, 83, of 2362 Carolina Road, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Rehabilitation Center of Alamance after six months of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of Mr. Nathan Thomas Massey and Mrs. Nancy Jane Cobb Massey, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Mr. Hubert Massey of Liberty.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Miss Exie Solina Massey and Ms. Ethel Merida Brooks; and two brothers, Mr. Claude Massey and Mr. Leon Massey.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church cemetery by Elder Wallis Smith, pastor.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening.
Mrs. Florenda Sands
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Mrs. Florenda Augusta Sands of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, after an illness of several months.
She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Cornerstone Baptist Church by Dr. Harry S. Wright. Burial will be in The Evergreens Cemetery.<

BURLINGTON - Mr. Charles W. Tingen Sr., 67, of 2339 Carolina Road died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at Vencor Hospital in Greensboro.

Mr. Thomas Langone
WILMINGTON - Mr. Thomas Eugene Langone of Wilmington, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 1, 1925, in Utica, N.Y., he was the husband of Mrs. Kathleen M. Langone, who survives, and the son of Mr. Gaetano Thomas and Mrs. Catherine Anna Beneventano Langone, both deceased. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as an electrical engineer, first with General Electric in Lynchburg, Va., and then at Norfolk and Southern Railway in Roanoke, Va., as the assistant manager of communications. He was also active with the Autism Society of North Carolina and the Wilmington TEACCH Center.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Ms. Katherine T. Langone of Wilmington; three sons, Mr. Michael T. Langone of Graham, and Mr. Thomas F. Langone and Mr. John E. Langone, both of Wilmington; a sister, Ms. Nancy West of New Bethel, Conn.; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel by the Rev. Robert J. Kus. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Salisbury National cemetery in Salisbury.
The family will be at the Andrews Mortuary one hour before the service.

Mrs. Maude Pickard
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Maude Hurlocker Pickard, 81, of Burlington died at 5:03 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a long period of failing health.
A native of Cabarrus County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Charlie Pickard, and the daughter of Mr. A.M. Hurlocker and Mrs. Mary Jane Stallings Hurlocker, both deceased. She was retired from Western Electric Company and was a member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Ann Webster of Burlington; three sons, Mr. Thomas Edward Pickard of Burlington, Mr. Stephen Alexander Pickard of the home and Mr. Carlton Wayne Pickard of Florida; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-step grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Charles Larry Pickard.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pine Hill cemetery by the Rev. Don Pegg, pastor of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church.
