Mrs. Rose D. Allred
YANCEYVILLE - Mrs. Rose Ella Dixon Allred, 72, of 176 Staley-Boswell Road, died at 7:37 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Murphy Bruce Allred and the daughter of Mr. Ben Dixon and Mrs. Bert Griffin Dixon, both deceased. She was retired.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Penny of Wilmington and Mrs. Rosemary Allred Breashears of Burlington; two sons, Mr. Victor Bruce Allred of Snow Camp and Mr. Lewis Dixon Allred of Yanceyville; four sisters, Mrs. Becky Councilman of Alamance, Mrs. Pat Qualls of Burlington, Mrs. Jean Kennedy of Florida and Mrs. Mary Strickland of Richmond, Va.; one brother, Mr. Paul Dixon of Burlington; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Neal Bennett Allred; two sisters, Mrs. Violet Wilson and Miss Tiny Dixon; and a brother, Mr. Jim Dixon.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Bennie Smith, pastor of Staley Memorial Baptist Church, and the Rev. Danny Miles, pastor of Friendly Lane Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cane Creek Friends Meeting House Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of Mr. Lewis Allred, 170 Staley-Boswell Road, Yanceyville.

Mrs. Elaine B. Apple
CHAPEL HILL - Mrs. Rebecca Elaine Bumgarner Apple, 49, of 1419 Ford Road, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Mrs. Mary Arrwood Bumgarner, who survives, and the late Mr. James Oliver Bumgarner. She was employed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a member of Shamrock Evangelical Methodist Church.
Survivors other than her mother of Burlington include a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Tracy) Beaddles of Burlington; a son, Mr. Dennis Lee Apple of Efland; a brother, Mr. Jerry Lee Bumgarner of Burlington; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Robert James Bumgarner.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Lester Haney, pastor of Shamrock Evangelical Methodist Church. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 4 to 6 this afternoon, and at other times at the home of the mother, 108 Harrell St., Burlington.
Mr. Henry L. Lowe
SILER CITY - Mr. Henry Lee Lowe, 88, of 779 Woody Drive, Graham, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Graham. He was formerly of Old 421 North, Siler City.
He was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Ms. Muriel Moody of Waynesboro, Va., Ms. Helen Barrett of Charlotte and Ms. Dorothy Dunn of Lenoir City, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Siler City by the Rev. Duane Partin.
Smith and Buckner Funeral Home of Siler City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Luke W. Trollinger
GRAHAM - Mr. Luke Watkins Trollinger, 85, of 928 W. Main St., died at 3:52 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern after a short illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Maxine Childrey Trollinger, who survives, and the son of Mr. James Henry Trollinger and Mrs. Roxie Watkins Trollinger, both deceased. He operated Childrey Hosiery in Haw River for 32 years and retired in 1975. He helped organize the Haw River Civic Association, where he served as a member and officer for many years. He served on the Haw River Town Council for eight years and was a member of Modern Woodmen of the World. He was a member of Haw River United Methodist Church, where he was a deacon.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Linda T. May of Oriental and Mrs. Irene T. Dailey of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Haw River United Methodist Church by Dr. Roderic Mullen, pastor. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Dorothy Thompson
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Dorothy Webb Thompson, 73, of 1518 Hanover Road, died at 3:25 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham after a critical illness of two months.
A native of Edgecombe County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Louis Madison Thompson, and the daughter of Mr. Walter J. Webb and Mrs. Eva Bridges Webb, both deceased. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church of Rocky Mount.
Survivors include three sons, Mr. Danny Thompson of Denver, N.C., Mr. Mike Thompson of Graham and Mr. Scott Thompson of Mebane; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Finch of Bailey and Mrs. Bertha Skinner of Wilson; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bunting and Mrs. Annie Carr; and two brothers, Mr. Rufus Webb and Mr. Robert Webb.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Alvin M. Horne, pastor of Friendship United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. Thomas C. Brooks
GRAHAM - Mr. Thomas Calvin Brooks, 81, of 3636 Preacher Holmes Road, died at 8:55 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Alamance after three months of failing health, four days critical.
A native of Union County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Mary Cole Brooks and the late Mrs. Mary Holt Brooks. He was the son of Mr. Zeb Baxter Brooks and Mrs. Lue Creasey Simpson Brooks, both deceased. He was a retired textile employee and a member of Swepsonville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Clara Mildred Walls of Graham.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; one stepson, Bobby Davis; four sisters; and six brothers.
A graveside service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. today at Graham Memorial Park by the Rev. Norman M. Whitney, pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 3:30 to 4:15 this afternoon.

Mr. Sam Baldwin
BURLINGTON - Mr. Sam Baldwin, 72, of 207 E. Kimes St., died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a critical illness of two weeks.
A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Willie Pearl Tate Baldwin, and the son of Mr. Walker Baldwin and Mrs. Ethel Fearrington Baldwin, both deceased. He was a member of Gant Town Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Mr. Bruce Baldwin of Graham and Mr. Junior “June” Baldwin of Mebane; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mildred Ann Elliott and Ms. Linda Jean Tate, both of Burlington; three stepsons, Mr. Harry Lee Tate and Mr. Clarence Tate Jr., both of Burlington, and Mr. Curtis Neal Tate of New Jersey; seven step grandchildren; and six great-step grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bobby Miles, pastor of Gant Town Baptist Church. Burial will be in Sweet Gum Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home one hour before the service and at other times at the home of Ms. Barbara Elliott, 1717 Durham St., Lot 160, Burlington.
Mrs. Mary Fincannon
REIDSVILLE - Mrs. Mary Jane Culley Fincannon, 75, of 1130 N. Scales St., died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at her home.
A native of Chesterfield, S.C., she was the wife of Mr. William Frank Fincannon Sr., who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Calvin C. Culley and Mrs. Mary Jane Hildreth Culley, both deceased. She had lived in Reidsville most of her life. She retired from Creighton Inc. after 39˝ years of service. She was a member of Calvary’s Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Shelby Christine F. Pruitt of Eden; two sons, Mr. Ronnie Wayne Fincannon of Eden and Mr. William Frank Fincannon Jr. of Gibsonville; two sisters, Ms. Elsie Mae C. Fincannon of Roxboro and Ms. Grace Beatrice C. Watts of Sanford; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary’s Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Talton. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Erma Truelove
SILER CITY - Mrs. Erma Stutts Truelove, 88, of 4135 Bellemont-Mt. Hermon Road, Burlington, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at Sunrise Care Facilities in Siler City.
A native of Chatham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. John G. Truelove, and the stepdaughter of Ms. Thelma Stutts of Siler City. She was retired from A.J. Schneirson. She was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church, the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and the Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors other than her stepmother of Siler City include two daughters, Ms. Faye T. Moore of Burlington and Ms. Janice T. Ream of Winston-Salem; a sister, Ms. Alice S. Frazier of Siler City; three half-sisters, Ms. Mary Helen Stutts and Ms. Blanche S. Burchett, both of Siler City, and Ms. Virginia S. Birchett of Mebane; a stepsister, Ms. Mildred Hart of Siler City; a stepbrother, Mr. Ralph Gaines of Asheboro; two grandchildren; four step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-step grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Cullum Stutts.
