Mrs. Nancy Johnston
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Nancy Sue Meadows Johnston, 76, formerly of 203 Albany St., died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at Skilled Nursing Division of Alamance Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Edward Ray Johnston, and the daughter of Mr. Roy Arnold Meadows and Mrs. Delphia Lee Meadows, both deceased. She was a retired seamstress. She was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church and the Worker’s Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Susan) Cates of Mebane and Mrs. D. Gail George of Rock Hill, S.C.; three sons, Mr. H. Wayne Johnston of Graham, Mr. Thomas E. Johnston of Lake Worth, Fla., and Mr. Arnold R. Johnston of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Odessa Taylor and Mrs. Elsie Mullis, both of Eden, and Mrs. Preston James of Stoneville; a brother, Mr. Roy A. Meadows Jr. of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pine Hill cemetery by Dr. William C. Simpson Jr., senior pastor of Front Street United Methodist Church.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the service.

Mrs. Ina C. Madison
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Ina Cooper Madison of 2431 N. Church St., Lot 155, died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at the Hospice Home of Burlington after three months of failing health.
A native of Wilkes County, she was the wife of the late Mr. William H. Madison, and the daughter of Mr. Charles Cooper and Mrs. Maude DeBorde Cooper, both deceased. She was the retired owner and operator of Hubs Bee Line. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Burlington.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Vestal of Goldvein, Va.; a son, Mr. William “Bill” Madison Jr. of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Russell of Sanford and Mrs. Emmaree Satterfield of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Stone Cooper of Elkin; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held in Elkin Saturday.

Mr. Terry R. Boggs
SNOW CAMP - Mr. Terry Ray Boggs, 43, of 1651 Major Hill Road, died at 7:24 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, at his home after several months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Fred Columbus Boggs and Mrs. Beatrice King Boggs, who both survive. He was a self employed carpenter and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors other than his parents of Graham include a daughter, Ms. Ashley Boggs of Graham; three brothers, Mr. Doug Boggs of Burlington, Mr. Dennis Boggs and Mr. Tim Boggs, both of Graham; and a grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Denny Wall, pastor of Hico Baptist Church, the Rev. Ralph Rivers, retired Baptist minister.
The family will be at the funeral home following the service.
Mrs. Mary K. Dodson
GRAHAM - Mrs. Mary Frances Kelley Dodson, 75, of 114 Kay Drive, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Durham County, she was the wife of Mr. Herman Hugh Dodson who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Wesley E. Kelley and Mrs. Sabrina Chappell Kelley, both deceased. She was a retired baker in the cafeteria at Turrentine Middle School and was a Baptist.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Patsy Lee Crawford of Burlington; a son, Mr. Stony Allen Dodson of Burlington; three brothers, Mr. Elmer Kelley of Elon College, Mr. Buck Kelley of Mebane and Mr. Victor Kelley of Burlington; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other time at the home of the son, 1844 Huffman Mill Road, Burlington.
Mr. Bruce W. Strickland
CRYSTAL CITY, Va. - Mr. Bruce Warren Strickland, 34, of Crystal City, formerly of 104 White Drive, Mebane, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Lewis W. Strickland and Mrs. Rachel B. Strickland, both deceased.
Survivors include two brothers, Mr. J. David Strickland of Fayetteville and Mr. Norman L. Strickland of Mebane.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Mrs. Mabel B. Bradsher
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Mabel Marie Bradshaw Bradsher, 62, of 512 Morgan Terrace, died at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Willie Edgar Bradsher, and the daughter of Mr. Willard Bradshaw and Mrs. Mabel Baynes Bradshaw, both deceased. She was a 1955 graduate of Jordan Sellars High School. She was a member of Union Chapel United Church of Christ.
Survivors include a brother, Mr. Joseph V. Bradshaw of Burlington; and a granddaughter, with whom she made her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Morgantown Baptist Church by the Rev. Steven Clay, pastor, and the Rev. Ervin Milton, pastor of Union Chapel United Church of Christ. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home from 7 to 8 Friday evening, and at other times at the home.
Mrs. Viola J. Smith
HAW RIVER - Mrs. Viola Jackson Smith, 83, of 3751 Hampton Oaks Lane, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Alamance in Graham after a critical illness of six weeks.
A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Wade Hampton Smith, and the daughter of Mr. Fletcher Odell Jackson and Ms. Della Cates Garrard, both deceased. She was retired from Collins and Aikman, and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Truby (Frances) Crutchfield of Mebane, Mrs. Wiley (Shirley) Fuller of Graham and Ms. Carolyn Smith of the home; a son, Mr. Fletcher E. Smith of Graham; three sisters, Mrs. Lorena Estes and Mrs. Janet Dodson, both of Durham, and Mrs. Lois Harder of Hillsborough; a brother, Mr. Victor Garrard of Durham; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Salem United Methodist Church by the Rev. Benji Kelley, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Miss Elma Sharpe
MEBANE - Miss Elma Sharpe, 98, of 2502 N.C. 119 South, died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at Presbyterian Home of Hawfields. She was a former resident of 2023 Bellemont-Alamance Road, Burlington.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Mr. Thomas E. Sharpe and Mrs. Mary Frances Nicholson Sharpe, both deceased. She was retired from Kayser-Roth Hosiery. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and the Friendship Fellowship Group and was a member of the Bellemont Golden Agers at Bellemont United Methodist Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Lois Sharpe Patterson and a brother, Mr. Clifton S. Sharpe.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Friendship United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Alvin M. Horne, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. James A. Fiorenzo
BURLINGTON - Mr. James Albert Fiorenzo, 28, of 1004 Bellevue St., died at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a critical illness of 12 days.
A native of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., he was the husband of Mrs. LaDonna Beasley Fiorenzo who survives, and the son of Mr. Joseph Anthony Fiorenzo and Mrs. Paula Harward Barber, who both survive. He was a machine operator.
Survivors other than his wife of the home, mother of Lincoln, Neb., and father of Ashtabula, Ohio, include four sisters, Mrs. Barbara Ross of Largo, Fla., Miss Kathleen Fiorenzo of Seminole, Fla., Miss Jennifer Neal of Lincoln and Miss Rebecca Neal of Clearwater, Fla.; and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Rose Fiorenzo of Ashtabula.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Roger Ross.

Mr. Guy T. Wilkinson
FAYETTEVILLE - Mr. Guy Thompson Wilkinson, 66, of 5707 Five Sisters Court, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at his home.
Born April 3, 1932, in Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Andrews who survives, and the son of Mr. William Currie Wilkinson and Mrs. Hattie Newman Wilkinson, both deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a banker. He was a member of Hayes Street Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Ms. Guyla Beth Wilkinson of Fayetteville; and a brother, Mr. Melford Wilkinson of Lady Lake, Fla.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Oakwood cemetery by Chaplain Julius Jernigan.

Mrs. Grace B. Moody
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Grace Brewer Moody, 62, of 5513 Pagetown Road, died at 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center after a short illness.
A native of Chatham County, she was the wife of Mr. Clyde T. Moody who survives, and the daughter of Mrs. Esta Stout Brewer who survives and the late Mr. Wrenn Brewer. She was retired from Lucent Technologies and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church for 42 years, where she served as WMU Director, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School director, on the Bicentennial Committee, Hospitality Committee and was the organizer of the History Room of the church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and mother of Siler City include a daughter, Mrs. Larry (June) Long of Burlington; two sons, Mr. Ricky Moody and Mr. Ronnie Moody, both of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Maxine Nunn of Snow Camp, Mrs. Faye Brooks of Siler City and Mrs. Sylvia Moore of Bear Creek; a brother, Mr. Claude Brewer of Allen, Texas; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Glencoe Baptist Church by the Rev. Darrell Massey, pastor, and the Rev. Felton Massey. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
