Mrs. Faye S. Pyrtle
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Faye Sechrest Pyrtle, 76, of 214 Springwood Drive, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham after several years of failing health.
A native of Forsyth County, she was the wife of Mr. Carl M. "Lefty" Pyrtle, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Samuel Sechrest and Mrs. Neva Davis Sechrest, both deceased. She was retired from Baker Cammack Hosiery and was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Kernersville.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include two sons, Mr. Ronald Lee Pyrtle of Mebane and Mr. C. Wayne Pyrtle of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Irma Bowman of Oak Ridge and Mrs. Betty Baker of Kernersville; two brothers, Mr. Ralph Sechrest and Mr. Lee Sechrest, both of Kernersville; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Craig Sechrest.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Davis Street United Methodist Church by Dr. Michael Hobbs and the Rev. Suzanne Cloyd-Hultman. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mrs. Mary T. Mason
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Mrs. Mary Thelma Mason, 78, formerly of Memphis, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, in Pinebluff.
She was the wife of the late Mr. William T. Mason. She was a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Connie Gilbert of Bartlett, Tenn.; two sons, the Rev. Robert T. Mason of Pinebluff and Dr. James M. Mason of Gibsonville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Germantown Parkway Chapel, Memphis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memory Hill Gardens.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to Hospice.

Mrs. Ruth B. McIntyre
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Ruth Blalock McIntyre of 2304 Hyde St., died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, after three weeks of critical illness.
Lowe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

Mrs. Ruth B. Mauney
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Ruth Barrier Mauney, a resident of Twin Lakes Center, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at the center.
Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

BURLINGTON - Mr. Rudy Lee Allison, 83, of 1727 Melody Lane, died Wednesday afternoon, July 8, 1998, at his home.
Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

Mr. G.F. Richmond Sr.
MEBANE - Mr. Guy Forrest "Buck" Richmond Sr., 83, of 305 E. Jackson St., died at 6:40 p.m. Monday, July 6, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health, two months critical. He was formerly of 3673 Mebane Rogers Road.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Cora Vincent Sykes Richmond, who survives, and the late Mrs. Norine Bowland Richmond. He was the son of Mr. Thomas Bethel Richmond and Mrs. Margaret Murray Richmond, both deceased. He was a retired truck driver of Associated Transport in Burlington. He was a member of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church where he was an elder for 30 years.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn R. Turner of Roxboro; a sister, Mrs. Mary R. Stainback of Graham; two brothers, Mr. William F. Richmond and Mr. Ernest C. Richmond, both of Mebane; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Barbara R. Bell; a son, Mr. Guy Forrest Richmond Jr.; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth R. Rascoe, Mrs. Frances R. McPherson, Mrs. Irene McPherson and Mrs. Polly Covington; and a brother, Mr. Tom Richmond.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Allen Huff, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, P.O. Box 2122, Burlington, N.C. 27216-2122.

Mrs. Mae B. Cheek
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Mae Freddie Brooks Cheek, 93, of 600 Rascoe Road, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
A native of Person County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Ivory Johnson and the late Mr. Norman C. Cheek, and was the daughter of the late Mrs. Emma Brooks. She was a homemaker and a member of Hester's Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Addie Mae Love of Burlington; four sons, Mr. Jerry Johnson, Mr. John Willis Johnson, Mr. Aubrey C. Johnson and Mr. James Earl Gilbert, all of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Leola Pearl Pulliam of Philadelphia; a brother, Mr. Raymond Snipes of Burlington; 49 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Hester's Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe Clayton, pastor, the Rev. Bobby Miles. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Jesse C. Campbell
SNOW CAMP - Mr. Jesse Clyde Campbell, 73, of 8144 Old Switchboard Road, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after six months of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of Mrs. Mary Lee Love Campbell, who died Oct. 23, 1995, and the son of Mr. Abner Bennett Campbell and Mrs. Rosa Straughn Campbell, both deceased. He was the retired owner and operator of Campbell Real Estate Co. and was a former employee of Alamance Breeders Association for 15 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Sandra C. Warren of Graham; a son, Mr. Mike Campbell of the home; and a sister, Mrs. Juanita C. Johnson of Christiansburg, Va.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Cara C. Perry; and three brothers, Mr. Henry Campbell, Mr. Wade Campbell and Mr. Grady Campbell.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Bennie Smith, pastor of Staley Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Pauline Newton
VASS - Mrs. Pauline Stephens Newton, 88, of 201 Sarason Place, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Born Jan. 9, 1910, in Edmeston, N.Y., she was the daughter of Mr. Dwayne Stephens and Mrs. Mabel Thayer Stephens, both deceased. She was a retired administrative assistant with the American Red Cross.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Patricia Newton Smith; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and relatives in the Burlington area.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant Christian Church by the Dr. Winifred Bray and the Rev. Ken Pritchard. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Benjamin Morris
CHAPEL HILL - Mr. Benjamin Guy Morris, 77, of 2615 Millikan Road, died at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after one year of failing health, four days critical.
A native of Orange County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ava Gray Thompson Morris, who survives, and the late Mrs. Lula Cheek Morris. He was the son of Issac Morris and Josie Crawford Morris, both deceased. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was retired from the University of North Carolina, maintenance department. He attended Clover Garden United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Mr. Jerry Wayne Morris of Chapel Hill; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Brenda Phelps of Durham; a sister, Mrs. Thelma Tapp of Chapel Hill; a grandchild; three step grandchildren; and three great-step grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Clover Garden United Methodist Church by the Rev. Frank Garton, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Clover Garden United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 1634 Orange Chapel-Clover Garden Church Road, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514.

Mrs. Arlene St. John
DURHAM - Mrs. Arlene Kann St. John, 77, of 2527 Glendale Ave., died Saturday night, July 4, 1998, at her home after a long illness.
A native of Guttenburg, Iowa, she was the wife for 55 years to Mr. Raymond T. St. John, who survives. She and her husband moved to Durham in 1986. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors other than her husband include two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Susan) Prosperi of Skokie, Ill., and Mrs. Mark (Barbara) Atkinson of Charlotte; a sister; four brothers; two grandchildren; and relatives in the Burlington area.
A funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by the Rev. John Heffernan. Burial rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn cemetery in Blowing Rock by the Rev. Conrad Hoover.
The family will be at the home.
Memorials may be made to Triangle Hospice, 1804 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, Suite 112, Durham, N.C. 27707.

Mr. Udis Williamson
BURLINGTON - Mr. Udis Lee Williamson, 75, of 1562 Morgantown Road, died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Durham after an illness of several months.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Margie Miles Williamson, who survives, and the son of Mr. Walter Williamson and Mrs. Ora Willis Williamson, both deceased. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Morgantown Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Senior Choir.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three daughters, Miss Brenda F. Williamson of Scotland Neck, Mrs. Schelia W. Rucker of Arlington, Texas, and Mrs. Hilda W. Brown of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Littleton L. Williamson of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miles Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Bruce Hurst, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the church one hour before the service.
Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Roy L. Spainhour
SANFORD - Mr. Roy Lee Spainhour, 66, of 433 Windy Beach Court, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at Central Carolina Hospital.
He was the husband of Mrs. Jenny Hall Spainhour, who survives.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Ms. Julie S. Fleming of Raleigh; a sister, Ms. Martha Erlene Sykes of Broadway; a brother, Mr. Walter Lee Spainhour of Graham; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Chapel by Mr. Ken Bennett and Ms. Sandy Thomas. Burial will be in the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
